The suspense that was in this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Katie Rydale works as a make-up artist for a studio in the small town of Enchantment. She's retreated from the glitz and glamour of LA, but hasn't left the industry completely. It's a compromise that works for her until she has to do make-up for one Keifer Rogan. MMA champion and rising star in Hollywood. She expects him to be attracted to her blond goddess friend, but his eyes lock on hers and hold her captive. She has a feeling that her quiet little world is about to be shaken up.
Rogan knows his time as an MMA champ is limited. When his agent suggests doing a cable series, he agrees. Meeting shy Katie is a definite perk of the job. He's had his fill of Barbie dolls, he wants some spice, now. She's not impressed by him, but he is mesmerized by her. He recognizes something in her that he sees in the mirror every day. Rogan makes it his mission to get her to open up, but what he uncovers may put their future in jeopardy and inflict more pain on the woman who’s had enough to last a few lifetimes.
Keifer Rogan had me at, “Mornin', ladies.” He spots Katie after overhearing her bad mouthing him and he's hooked. I love it! The smouldering looks and the determined chase, it's so irresistible. Couple that with the fact that he’s ex Black Ops and embroiled in a race to find a killer before another of his team can be targeted, and you have a stunning page turner.
I found myself wondering about the other characters we met and the loose ends from Strong Enough. The suspense in the story doesn't factor in until the last few chapters, and then a whole lot of things happen in quick succession. The love story had to develop independent of this for it to work, so it all came together beautifully. I loved the unexpected twists, they're always a draw card in an M. Leighton book.
Once again, I'm left begging for the next instalment, Brave Enough, out in April, 2016. Could Tag be the most compelling of them all?

Tough Enough is the second book in the Tall, Dark and Dangerous Trilogy and we first meet Keifer Rogan in book #1, Strong Enough. Even though it was just a teasing glimpse I knew he would be special and I wasn't wrong. If you haven't read Strong Enough, I strongly recommend you read it first to avoid possible spoilers.
As always M. Leighton has spun a heart wrenching and heart warming story with a plot to keep you in gripped in suspense until the very end and created such well developed and believable characters who stay with you long after you finish their story. You can't help the strong reactions ripping through you at her clever and jaw dropping plot twists. She has a knack of wringing out every last drop of emotion from the reader, so much so that you feel like you've just gone ten rounds in the ring - which is pretty apt in this case.
I love Rogan, he makes my heart soar, he is so adorable and hot! He always put others well-being before his own. He is always there when needed, laying his life down for those he loves...his brother, his Special Ops 'family' and Katie.
When it comes to Katie, there is nothing he won't do for her. Katie is a make-up artist on the set of a television studio, Rogan has just joined the cast and Katie is assigned to do his make-up. Rogan takes one look at her and goes all out to attract her attention and, eventually, win her heart. Rogan is so thoughtful and endearing in the way he always tries to make her feel comfortable and at ease, he recognises a kindred soul and knows her secrets and fears run deep. He has a huge romantic streak where Katie is involved, he treats her like the precious jewel he sees her as. Oh, he melted my heart *sighs*And maan did I mention he is H.O.T?!!!
Katie suffered an horrific ordeal at the hands of her brutal ex and it nearly killed her, literally and mentally. She spends her days, like every other since her ordeal, keeping her head down and blending into the shadows, not making waves, just trying to be invisible. It takes Rogan to see her as she really is and bring the 'real Katie' into the light and out of the shadows. Katie just wants a quiet life but she doesn't reckon on Rogan and her scheming, but funny, best friend.
My heart hurt so much for Katie and what she endured. But for all her scars, flaws and fears she has a quiet inner strength waiting to burst through, she just needs something or someone to give her a reason to fight. To live.
Rogan and Katie were perfect for each other, they had such a sweet but passionate chemistry that burned up my kindle. I think they could be my new favourite couple, I loved them so much.
Every time I pick up a new M. Leighton novel I find myself saying, "Michelle, you've done it again. This is better than your last book." And yes, I have said the same about Tough Enough, I love, love, LOVED it!!
I smiled, panted, sighed, laughed out loud, gasped in shock and yelled my way through this book, I loved it!
I can't recommend this book highly enough and can't wait to get to grips with Tag in the third instalment of the Tall, Dark and Dangerous Trilogy, Brave Enough. Go 1-click Tough Enough now and meet your next book boyfriend.
I was so excited to read this because the characters are very intriguing as we got a little glimpse of Rogan from Strong Enough. I was hooked after reading the Prologue. The story captivates me from the start.
Kiefer Rogan is the handsome actor who’s known to be a playboy and a fighter and Katie Rydale is a very shy but beautiful makeup artist that was assigned to Rogan during his contract as an actor for a cable series they are making.
It was really entertaining how Katie fought to show her attraction to Rogan because of her past that really affected her relationship towards others in her present life. A dark past that she tried to hide even to Rogan because she’s afraid of getting hurt and receive pity once she open up herself to trust again. But Rogan managed to impress her not knowing that slowly he's getting close to Katie's heart.
I love how M. Leighton writes a very heartwarming story that will make you laugh, cry and fall in love all over again. She never fails to give her readers something to look forward to, an unpredictable twist in the story that leave me aching for just a matter of time. Tough Enough is an inspiring story. Two people who survived from a tragic and horrible past that found their reasons to fight and live. They are both tough enough to fight for each other and to savor a beautiful life ahead of them.
This is such a great read! I highly recommend this book.
Kiefer Rogan is the best MMA fighter that’s now becoming a Hollywood star. Being a celebrity is his best cover as a part of Delta 5. And being the best fighter, showing the world how tough he is hides his vulnerability that he too has some skeletons hidden for the love of family.
Katie Rydale has been burned literally & figuratively in the past. Learning the hard way that fame isn’t everything, she’s now content in hiding behind the shadows. That is until Rogan shows up at her makeup chair and tilts her world upside down. Making her believe more in herself, giving her the confidence she lost, making her tough enough and learning that there is someone who will love her for who she really is.
I love their story, how Rogan patiently woos Katie. Taking his time to know her, make her come out of her shell. Both struggling on their past which unfortunately is intertwined. How they overcame the curveball that was thrown on them. I love Rogan, how he also makes me laugh, he’s the total opposite of brooding Jasper. I love seeing Tag & Jasper in the story, having Reid & Jasper’s mom’s death brought to light. Though i didn’t expect that kind of ending for the Delta 5 problem but this is an M Leighton book, she must be planning to drop a bomb on the last book - Brave Enough.
