Product Description

Can a dedicated top really learn to bottom? Tony wants to find out but he’s scared another die-hard top will just plow through him, instead of taking it nice and slow on a newbie.

Enter Butch, a bear who’ll try anything, and Ford, a guy whose curiosity is tempting him to cheat on his boyfriend. Like Tony, both are dedicated tops wanting to try something new, and on this journey of physical self discovery, all will find that being open means more than taking it doggie-style.

Warnings: cheating, use of party drugs, joints etc and lots of sex, including threesomes and orgies.

If you want an unadulterated dive into the world of sexual freedom then this is a great little short story for you to sink your teeth into. Exploring themes of friendship, family and relationships along the way, we follow Tony into a quest to discover just why the partners he Tops enjoy it so much. In attempting to Bottom for the first time, he sets up an experiment with like-minded Tops who are interested in sharing the experience: outgoing Butch and shy Ford.

I loved Tony and Ford right from the start. I longed for them to get a little sweet moment together, even something small, but at the same time, the more the story went on and Tony and Butch became friends as well as friends-with-benefits, I wanted them to hook up too, in a more permanent fashion.

The way the story progressed was great. The plot itself had depth and intrigue, moments where I cringed (Tony's dad!) and moments that were too hot to handle. The characters were nicely explored and true to who they were.

Overall, a brilliantly hawt read.
3.0 out of 5 stars Odd, funny short 21 March 2017

Hmm, I’m not entirely sure how to rate this one. From Top to Bottom was a little all over the place, lacking structure and minimally developed conflicts- and yet it sort of worked. Though there was a specific plot in which men who have previously only topped explore bottoming together, it was loosely organized in general. However, that ended up working for the entire tone of this short story.

The relaxed manner was reinforced by the first person narration in which the main character, Tony, often talks directly to the reader. As is common with someone telling a story, the subjects jumped around a little, including insignificant details at times but consistently laced with humorous moments. There were odd moments and strange timing, but it was funny if not slightly ridiculous. I laughed a lot. Sometimes in incredulity at the storyline, sometimes along with the characters. There isn’t a lot of character development or depth which isn’t surprising considering the length, but there were plot developments that led to significant changes for the three characters. Although these developments forced Tony to mature a bit, it felt a little glazed over. The writing was solid. At times, I found the narrative oddly descriptive with romantic imagery which contrasted awkwardly with Tony’s projected personality and the pervasive causal tone throughout the short story. Those moments were a bit too jarring, and decreased my overall enjoyment. However, the humor always reengaged me. The jokes made it easy to like the characters even when they were coming a little out of left field.

I think I’d classify this short as erotica with a silly streak. It’s fast paced and filled with sex, orgies, clubs, and includes some recreational drug use. However, it was funny and different enough that it kept my attention even if I wondered what exactly it was that I was reading.

~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~
Book about tops wanting to bottom. Short book with mostly sex and it wasn’t even good sex. Some of the descriptions for things were from one end of the spectrum to another. Sometimes they were cheesy descriptions and other times the author tried to be hardcore porn. There wasn’t a good balance and the story didn’t really have a point, yeah they all wanted to try bottoming. What came of it? What came of “Ford” and his boyfriend, what happened with Tony or Butch and his made baking skills?
Characters: didn’t connect with any of them
Sex: yes
Religious: no
Would I recommend to others: maybe?
More than one book in the series: not sure
Genre: M/M
Would I read more by this author: yes

5.0 out of 5 stars he decides that he wants to explore his sexuality a little more and has become curious about what it would be like to bottom 8 April 2017
By Fiona Lyle - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
First of all, before I go any further, I want to start by saying that this book, for being under 60 pages long, was an unexpected little gem of a read and I didn’t want it to end.

The main character of the story is Tony, who sexually has always been a top. At 29 years old, he decides that he wants to explore his sexuality a little more and has become curious about what it would be like to bottom. The only thing holding him back is the fear of another top hurting him. Tony has a very close relationship with his father, and no topic is off limits between them, especially Tony’s sex life. When Tony mentions to his dad that he wants to try being a bottom his dad plays it off like a joke by making fun of Tony, saying that he’ll now be like the girl in bed. He thinks that Tony needs to grow up and settle down and take a bit more responsibility with his life as he’s too much of free spirit. Not to be deterred by his dad’s skepticism, Tony updates his social media profiles to say that he’s a top, looking for another top who would be interested in exploring bottoming. This is where he meets Butch and Ford. When the three men meet at Tony’s apartment for the first time, Butch tells Tony that he’s in an open relationship with his long-term partner. Ford announces he’s also in a relationship, but his partner doesn’t know that he’s meeting up with the men. From this first meeting, the three men discover that they are very sexually compatible, can get completely comfortable with each other and are able to let go. This new experience has awakened something in each of them that has been dying to get out.

This author has done a fantastic job with this story. It really has everything you can ask for in a book, it’s smutty, but also incredibly funny in parts and then it’s also emotionally deep. We follow these three men on their journey through finding themselves and what happiness is for them, and it isn’t what you’d expect from where it all begins. The story is written in first-person so we get to see the whole experience from Tony’s point of view. The way the author tells the story and how it’s written has you completely immersed, and I really felt like I was part of the little bubble that was created.

From the author bio at the end of the book, we discover that he lives in Australia. This really comes across in the writing as some of the language used makes you aware straight away that it’s not set in the USA. At first, I thought it was British as some words are similar, but this did not affect the story in any way, in actual fact it makes the funny parts funnier, reading it with an Australian accent in your head (I’m sure I’m not the only one who does this *giggles*) just adds to the overall enjoyment.

As I’ve already said, this book was a little gem, I loved every bit of it, and I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. I literally can’t stop the smile that’s on my face.

***I would like to thank the author for the privilege and opportunity of reading this ARC. My review is an honest opinion of the book***
