Time Square: UFO: Team ELMR, (Eva,Lewis,Max&Razor) The kids are off on their first mission, to find displaced Time Square traveler, Wilber Force. They arrive in Roswell, 1947 to find that some rather bizarre UFO activity has just been reported. Their mission, to rescue Wilber from an eccentric inventor named Professor Melvin Finkelstein , who seems to have abducted Wilber, for reasons, the team does not know.
Melvin, a brilliant but long since forgotten inventor, had been hiding away in an abandoned mansion until the Roswell incident. With his trusty, albeit silent assistant Neil, ( Neil is a Rhino beetle, yes, I laughed out loud too) the two had been on the verge of a brilliant invention, when the stories of flying disc's hit the news. Melvin, knew he had to investigate. Upon his arrival in Roswell, he finds an abandoned dental surgery to set up shop. He and Neil set about getting the lay of the land, finding out anything they can about the incident, when they happen upon Wilber, the moment he is displaced from Time square. They of course, abduct Wilber, taking him to their new digs to get the skinny on the incredible flying discs, but Wilber of course has no idea what They are talking about.
Meanwhile, James Blonde, is honing in on the mysterious Sultan Peppercorn, whom Blonde believes has stolen the Obelisk. Sultan has decided that freezing the obelisk and then trying to smash it will unlock it secrets, which of course sends the whole of Time Square into a mini ice age.
With a lot of guts, gadgets and Razor turned into a miniature, team ELMR manage to outsmart the brilliant Melvin, and escape back to time square with Wilber, only to find a rather icy reception upon their arrival.
The kids may have won this round, but Time Square and time itself, are still in great peril.
This was a super fun read, with some fantastic new characters. I personally loved the antics of Melvin and Neil, and James Blonde had some great laugh out loud moments too. The kids are starting to work out each other strengths and weaknesses and I certainly look forward to their next time traveling adventure. I think kids 8-12 will find this a hilarious and exciting read.
