I used to read Block's books, many years ago. I like his turn of phrase and his humor, even though there was a lot of padding in the stories, describing roads, shops, food and anything he could think of with incredible (and unnecessary) detail. Then I stumbled on one of his books, that was so crude and vulgar I didn't finish it, and I stopped reading his work. Recently I saw this novella and decided to give it a chance.
I could not believe what I was reading. Totally banal, ridiculous details and gratuitously rude dialogue, ridiculous story. At least it was short. Thank God for Scandinavian authors
