my fist amazon review, and only because there was a polynesian (samoan) character in the book. it's a vary rare occurrence with the only other I can immediately recall is mazer rackham (half maori with a ''ta moko') from enders game (sadly, couldn't get my son into the book, though he loved the movie). nicely done including describing the authenticity of the 3 meals. yummy.
anyways, 3 stars because I love the series, the books an easy read and offered bit of escapism on a quiet weekend.

Product description
About the Author
John Ringo began writing for Baen in 2000 with his first release A Hymn Before Battle--the first novel in his Posleen Wars--which has become a New York Times best-selling series with over one million copies in print. The series continued with Gust Front, When the Devil Dances, Hell's Faire and Eye of the Storm. In addition, Ringo has penned the Council War series: There Will be Dragons, Emerald Sea, Against the Tide, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Adding another dimension to his skills, Ringo created nationally best-selling techno-thriller novels about Mike Harmon (Ghost, Kildar, Choosers of the Slain, Unto the Breach, and A Deeper Blue). His latest techno-thriller, The Last Centurion, was also a national best seller. A more playful twist on the future is found in novels of the Looking-Glass series: Into the Looking Glass, Vorpal Blade, Manxome Foe and Claws That Catch, the last three in collaboration with Travis S. Taylor. His audience was further enhanced with four collaborations with fellow New York Times best-selling author David Weber: March Upcountry, March to the Sea, March to the Stars and We Few. There are an additional five collaborative spinoffs from the Posleen series: The Hero, written with Michael Z. Williamson, Watch on the Rhine, Yellow Eyes and The Tuloriad, all written with Tom Kratman, and the New York Times best seller Cally's War and its sequels Sister Time and Honor of the Clan, both with Julie Cochrane. A veteran of the 82nd Airborne, he brings first-hand knowledge of military operations to his fiction.

Lurve the Kildar storyline but it needs more than two plotlines in it. Bringing the Gurkha's in was a bit cool too. I'm keen to see what's next.

Great read again

Another great read in the series. Again a great book filled with action, comedy, pitched battles and a little bedroom action. Looking forward to the next instalment in the adventures of the Kildar and hopefully and answer to class 201.

Too contrived and superficial. Reads a bit like a pre-teen novel with added sex of a rather odd kind. Ringo might have lent his name to the title but had very little other input

A great sequel, I am glad the story continues.

Mike Jenkins is not a nice guy... he says so all the time. The Keldara are on a 'Training Mission', but knowing the Kildar, this is not what it stays. For this to make any sense one needs to read the previous books. If you like military fiction, you will love them. If not so much, you will learn more about sniper rifles and scopes than you ever wanted to know.
Tiger by the Tail may seem a bit more brutal that the other books, but it really isn't. The violence is evident, but not too descriptive, which makes it easier to digest. It is just a side-line to advance the story anyway.
My verdict: it is good sequel to the other books and I am glad it has been written. I hope there will be more. The Kildar still has places to go and adventures to survive... and I'd love to read about them.

Gut!
