Product Description

It is 2217. Civil War rages in London, England. The Pearson family in the East set their might against the Renzo stronghold in the West. Blood, destruction, death and toil. Many face the storm; few emerge in one piece.

Raphael Renzo, Morpher and youngest son of the famed Lord Renzo, leads his warriors into battle against the blood-thirsty, malevolent forces of thugs and hooligans who threaten to destroy everything he seeks to protect and all he holds dear. There can only be one outcome: victory. But Raphael must be careful; for the road to victory is rife with snares and not all is what it seems...

A tale of honour, love and betrayal, this is the thrilling sequel to Sarah Brownlee’s ‘How the Wolf Lost Her Heart’ and shows the depths both villain and hero will plunge to, one for supremacy, the other to defend those he loves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sequel! Can't wait for the next! 9 December 2015

Great sequel! Love how this starts right where How the Wolf Lost Her Heart stopped. We are back in this dystopian world where war is imminent. Raphael and Skye are officially an item and both are very protective of one another. Things are going back to “normal” but with added security...everwhere. While Skye is at work she encounters another morpher but something about this particular morpher is not quite right. She feels the incredible urge to protect it and doesn’t understand why. This one event spirals into a crazy twist of events that you won’t see coming. In an effort to not give away too much I am going to be very brief. The Chinese Empire has agreed to help the House of Renzo in their effort to keep the thugs at bay. We meet a new character that aides in the kidnapping of Skye (huge plot twist here!) and the war begins (another huge plot twist!). Absolutely a page turner!

“All people knew now was fear. Fear of thugs. Fear of losing their lives to criminals and their vile vices. And, more recently, fear of all-out war. What was there to be proud of now? A broken city, terrorized by hooligans and lowlifes? Pride was alien; fear was a way of life.”

“To acknowledge and accept that to defeat a greater evil meant to go through all manners of evil yourself. For the noble, honourable individual who sacrificed mind, body and soul for the greater good, there was no way out; and for the villain who thrived on misery and prolonging suffering as long as possible, they, too, were trapped, albeit in a different sort of cage.”

“Love was the only dominant force in that magical moment, so powerful that it stopped Time and ordained that war, blood and destruction be nothing more than a forgotten nightmare. This was how it remained, brief in reality yet infinite in memory, until the two fell asleep in each other’s arms.”

I am loving this series! All of the events fall in line perfectly but at the same time keep your own thoughts moving trying to figure out the twists. A must read! The end will make you gasp and make you NEED to know what happens next! Can’t wait for the next book!
5.0 out of 5 stars She did it again! 13 August 2016

HOLY BOOK READ! Sarah Brownlee did it again! Just when i thought i couldn't fall in love anymore....i did ;) Now i am a little uneasy at the fact this is only a trilogy and not a series because i need a whole lot more of the Renzo's and Skye in my life.

So this book takes place in 2217, London, on brink of a civil war between East (The Pearson family) and West London (The Renzo family). The Renzo family is trying to get back to London's roots and uphold the law and protect its innocent citizens, while the Pearson's family feed upon murder, bloodlust, and all that is evil in this world. There are people called morphers who can morph into their spirit animals which is something that is held in high esteem to some, very frightening by others, and then completely disgust a few. The second instalment of the trilogy takes us to the beginning of the war and the alliances made on both sides, and what is to happen when they finally meet, who will be victorious and who will meet there end......

Loved the description and history of how London came to be over ran and couldn't help but point out so many similarities between society now and start of society in 2017 in the book and where it went wrong with not punishing and not segregating the thugs.
Also i did NOT see the Kai betrayal coming but when it did i semi though cliche` and was mentally saying oh who is going to come save Trey in the knick of time......and when Trey didn't get saved i was mentally bitch smacked and punched in the gut and left breathless. I DID NOT see THAT coming. The good guys always get saved, not usually killed off, great twist but so sad :( excited for the next reads.
Amazing work Sarah yet again you deliver such suspense with your captivating writing skills and now i am having a hang over.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to a fantastic series 10 January 2016

Wow. Once I started reading 'How the Tiger Faced His Challenge' I could not put this book down. After I read book one, 'How the Wolf Lost Her Heart', I knew I had to read this book. A great series. The storyline was fantastic. It was full of action, betrayal, awesome Morphers, love, mystery and a pretty creative backstory about the characters and London itself. Set in the future, the descriptive nature that Sarah Brownlee uses to bring her story to life was unique and believable. The war itself brought devastation, terror, lives lost and it left destruction in its wake. The characters were awesome. Skye was a great lead. She's a headstrong woman and a badass wolf. Rafael was also a badass character. Loved his spirit animal the tiger. Plus he's hot as all get out. I look forward to reading more. The cliffhanger left me wanting to pull my hair out... So be warned. A great add to your tbr list. Definitely recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does Good Always Win? 8 February 2016
By Chessy The Cat - Published on
Good vs. Evil. Spies. Kidnapping. Mad Scientist. Love. History. Honor. Friends. Betrayal. War. What more could you ask for? This books seems to have it all. It is the year 2217 and Raphael Renzo’s family is on the brink of civil war in the heart of London against Lord Pearson and his gangs of thugs.

Brownlee’s second book, How the Tiger Faced His Challenge continues the dystopian fantasy of Skye Archer and Raphael Renzo. Both are among the few who have the ability to morph into their spirit animal. She a wolf, he a Bengal tiger. Skye’s impulsiveness sets off a series of events that escalates an already explosive tension between the two factions fighting for control of London. Will Good win against Evil, especially when things are not as they seem?

The pace of the book starts off rather slowly, but when it takes off it goes full speed ahead. The plot twists were well placed and unexpected. There was a great deal of immaturity exhibited among the younger characters in the book given their ages. A lot of the thought process was separated out by parenthesis which I found annoying. And, there were a number of timeline inconsistencies.

It was an interesting book, but not such that I could not put it down. While you did not need to read the first book in the series to enjoy this one, you will have to read the next to complete the storyline.
4.0 out of 5 stars You will fall in love with him even more 28 April 2016

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

In this one we get to know Raphael a little more and also his background. At a young age he had some hard choices to make and it showed how brave and strong he was. You will fall in love with him even more. We are introduced to new charcaters and enemies and the twists that are this one will throw you for a loop. I really enjoyed this book. The writing is well done and will be kept intrigued for the whole book. The ending will definitely shock you and I can't wait for the next part.
