Disclaimer: I gave up at 20%.

I loved Venomous and have been waiting for ThunderClaw for quite a while. Perhaps that's why I'm so disappointed? The 20% that I did read seemed as if it was the first draft. I found myself confused by the disjointed storyline and couldn't connect with the characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars I tried to like this.... 19 February 2017

I tried very hard to like this book but I just couldn't. The hero came off as weak and the heroine as narsasistic. Poor guy comes to Earth to find his One and ends up with up with a poor excuse for a human that couldn't see past her own wants, needs, and fantasies for 5 mins for the sake of someone else. Her one redeeming quality is that she does care about her child and family. Unfortunately, that's not enough to make for a great read. Oh I do get the writer's attempt to wrap this all up into a nice three piece ménage àt what (you get what i'm saying) package, but it just comes off as forced. Painfully so.

The third wheel, the Commander, becomes first wheel, and Thunderclaw's spark just fizzles. Add one selfish subhuman and the whole thing becomes a hot mess. The writer tried to fix it, but the damage was done. She would have had to rewrite the whole book. So there is a lot of excuses as to why the little human is so broken.

There were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. So much so that it makes for a jerky read. But like you, I waited two years for this book. No way am I telling you to skip this one. Just hold on for the ride. And hope the next book makes up for this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh, I'm not totally disappointed... 30 April 2017

It was a good read, I don't regret it. But I feel like the long wait made the fact that it was not on par with Venemous, caused me to not enjoy it as much as I might have. When one gets so invested in a series and in the characters, the author really has a tall order to fill in terms of fan expectations. I am very happy Lumen and the guys were involved in the story. I was bummed at the fact that Venemous ended before a momentous occasion, but thankfully it happens here in Thunderclaw. I am very annoyed that Lumen magically gets an eye color change though. Her eyes are BLUE! Not freaking HAZEL! WTH?! The first book makes a big deal of this feature Lumen possesses. Venom is enamored of the color, it reminds him of a precious stone even. So how the heck does Ms. Fletcher forget such an important detail pray tell? Sorry, it may seem like a nit pick, but I am one of those who got really invested in the characters, and to have such a intrinsic detail messed up by the very one who created it, kinda chaps my booty. But I digress, if I read Thunderclaw again, it will only be to prepare for the third book. I say again, because I have read Venemous probably four or five times by now, I enjoyed it that much. Here's hoping the third book pulls the series back together eh?

So enjoyed this book and Eorik is my favorite character. I fell in love with him in the first book. Such a powerful dynamic and loving character. The love scene with he and Sine was fantastic writing. Thank you Penelope for all your hard work. In the next book, I want to see Beowyn doing a diaper change.

It was worth the wait. I was spellbound. Truly engrossed. Touching; sad moments. Humor. A three way relationship that doesn't kill the story's flow. I will totally pre order the next story.
Big fan. 😄

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 years and worth it ! 4 February 2017

Update : So I've read the book a second time and I think my initial is a reaction based on excitement. While I love Fletcher's writing style . I think some parts were written right after Venemous and others are drafts that weren't quite flushed out . There's a lot of grammatical errors in the book . While I can and did auto correct in my mind ...this book isn't nearly as good as venemous. I find that I want to read the parts where Lumen and crew are concerned. I just love them! But I can't wait for the next one hope it's better than ThunderClaw.

Omg where do I start ! First let me say I was disappointed she didn't continue with a Black female lead ...very disappointed if I'm honest . We are so under represented in SciFy romance it's crazy . BUT I do appreciate her being abale to diversify her heroines. Most authors like Celia Kyle/Erin Tate, S.E Smith,& M.K Ediem to name a few refuse to do this and write as if women of European descent are all Earth has to give . I do wishe Sine would have been another woman of color but I enjoyed her for who she was and how she shaped the story .

If you have problems with MMF relationship this book is not for you . While not comfortable with it either I find it did not take away from the book but the complexities of their love was greatly written . I can say Sine was a bit annoying living in the past as she did and being a hypocrite but as a woman whose been hurt before I can see how and why she dug her heels in . The fact she was a single mom struggling was such a heartwarming thing to me as usually women are unattached in these stories. The love of her family and its complexities was great too !

The length of this novel is superb ! I know I have to reread it as I have done venemous but like venemous this is an instant fave. I do want to know why want venemous able to fight them successfully as they were said to be the best warriors (Ra) and why didn't his anima shield him?
