Through The Lens is a standalone romance from the Delightful KK Allen. She certainly knows how to write all things steamy romance y'all!!
Desmond and Maggie are full blown enemies!! When her modelling career comes crashing to an end, Maggie moves from LA to Seattle to be with her sister, Monica, and try and figure out where she goes from here after modelling and catwalks and photographers are all she has known. Desmond has a passion for cooking and his culinary classes are some of the best in Seattle. Monica and Maggie sign up- of course to Desmond's frustration. Maggie seems to be completely disinterested in anything Desmond says in his classes. But then of course, their hatred for each other turns into something more. A longing and a desire to be something other then enemies!! They work out a way to help each other find their paths in life- and best of all, they can do this together!!
There are so many elements to both Maggie and Desmond. I loved these guys together!! I loved KK's Waterfall Effect and remains my favourite of KK's, however TTL is DEFINITELY a close second fave of hers!!
Any romance reader will love this one!! Can't wait for what comes next!!

‘Through the lens, she’s the woman with no faults, no worries, and no fears. But on the other side of it, there’s much, much more...’
Through the Lens by K. K. Allen is a slow burn enemies to lovers romance that is funny, sweet and emotional. It is also the third book in the BelleCurve series, however can be read as a stand-alone.
After living the life of the glitz and glam, Maggie has decide to leave the city of LA and start a fresh in Seattle with help of her sister - Monica.
Whilst Maggie is trying to figure out her next move, Monica convinces here to take a cooking class and this is where she meets Desmond. At first she thinks he’s hot and charming until she realises he flirts with every female, and has a great relationship with her estranged father.
But what happens when Maggie can no longer stay with her sister and is offered to rent one of Desmond’s condos for free, as long as she works for him? Will they cross that fine line between love and hate?
I loved the chemistry and the banter that Desmond and Maggie had, I did however find Maggie a little whingey at times. I also loved that this can be read as a stand alone, however gives you enough of a glimpse into the supporting characters lives, that it makes you want to read the previous books. This is my second read from K. K. Allen and I look forward to reading more of her work.

A cocky chef (Desmond), a feisty ex-model (Maggie), lots of flirty banter, a bit of a love/hate relationship and a heap ton of sizzling chemistry made for a fantastic read.
There was so much more to both of these characters than first meets the eye and I really enjoyed the slow burn romance that develops between them. It felt very natural and full of so many raw emotions. My heart ached for them both so many times 😭
A beautifully written story and a must read.
Another 5 star read from the amazingly talented K.K. Allen. The way she writes is completely captivating and I loved everything about this slow-burn romance.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Through The Lens by K.K. Allen
A steamy slow burn romance, where the main characters start out hating each other before being thrust together in the workplace.
Maggie has left her big modelling career and the glitz of LA behind to move in with her sister so she can try and figure out what she wants to do with her life.
Desmond is a successful chef who loves capturing his dishes in his photographs. He has dreams of expanding his business and a chance encounter paves the way for him to take a leap into a new venture.
There's lots of steamy scenes between our enemies turned lovers. This was a very enjoyable read!

This was an interesting book. I loved the setting, and got a real feel of Seattle. I also loved Monica.
I’m a little unsure about Maggie, but Desmond was a solid character.
I think where it was a little strange for me was the fact a lot of this book revolves around things explained in other books, which I haven’t read. It made for a bit of a disconnect which thankfully was solved just as it got too much to handle.
I did think this did detract from the story a bit, as well as the fact you don’t initially see Desmond and Maggie meeting.
Still, this was a solid book. I would suggest reading the associated books first, but do give it a go!

What a beautiful story.
I loved it all.
The loss and reconnection, pain and pleasures, dreams and fears
We all deal differently and it’s how we come together to deal that solidifies our place in peoples lives.

“We’re just two souls who had to get lost to finally find their way home.”
Reviewed in the United States on 1 May 2020Verified Purchase
This talented wordsmith is still fairly new to me, but with each new book of hers I read, I fall more deeply under her spell. Bordering on poetic, her words paint a masterpiece full of every colorful emotion, sentiment and feeling that surround and infuse me, making me happily drown in them. I can’t get enough!
“The slow and sweet lyrics fill the space around us, lifting us above my already foggy state, high above the clouds, until I’m merely floating in dangerous proximity to the rain shower sure to drown us both. But I don’t care, not when his breath hits mine in one final warning, like a crack of thunder before the sky lights up the night.”
Gah! See what I mean? Poetry.
Maggie Stevens and Desmond Blake are both complicated. If they had their way, they would stay out of each others' orbits, but Maggie's sister is engaged to Desmond's best friend. Then there's the to-close-for-comfort relationship between Maggie's estranged father and Desmond, who he treats like the son he never had. It’s one thorny, tangled situation that Maggie rightfully resents.
Maggie and Desmond will forever live in my heart as two of my most favorite characters. Their flaws, baggage and vulnerabilities make them relatable to every reader. Their struggles and transparency have a way of drawing you in to their story, making you an integral part, so you’re left with no choice but to feel every one of their emotions as they navigate the road to forever. The push and pull is strong between these two, and the tension is deliciously electric.
This book is impossible to put down. It gives so much insight into the challenges of a realistic relationship and the beauty that happens when a person changes and grows, taking control of their destiny. As heartfelt as it is inspiring, this exquisitely penned, phenomenal story is sure to captivate every reader!

A deliciously emotional love story with a valuable message
Reviewed in the United States on 5 May 2020Verified Purchase
Through The Lens is a super slow-burn, witty, emotional, enemies to lovers story that is equal parts humor and heat.
Maggie Stevens is a model who has become completely disenchanted by the life she has lived. Desperate for a new start, any start, she heads to Seattle to stay with her sister.
Desmond Blake is a charming, hard-working chef, who runs a culinary school, and has a passion for food photography.
Maggie and Desmond each have deep-seated and unresolved parental issues that have resulted in emotional scars. Bound together by their past, and even more so by present circumstances, these two end up needing each other in more ways than one.
The chemistry between Desmond and Maggie is palpable. And their interactions, when not emotionally charged, are pretty darn funny. The push and pull between them amps up the heat...and the humor.
I only had two real issues while reading TTL. I would have loved to have seen just a little bit more interaction with Maggie's parents, and I would have liked it if more of Faye's facial expressions matched her words and actions. She gave me a headache.
I love so many things about this book. K.K. is extremely talented at using descriptive language. The dishes and photos are so beautifully described that I could picture it all so clearly. But what I loved the most about this book? Its message.
For Maggie, life in front of the camera has always been a lie. The images are crafted to tell a story. For Desmond, the lens captures a moment in time. There is nothing artificial about it. In TTL, these two learn that perception - of a moment, a person, or even the self - is impacted, and maybe even skewed, by the lens it is being viewed through. And sometimes, in order to change our focus, we just need someone to show us a different lens.
Overall, Through the Lens is a deliciously emotional love story with a valuable message, and I definitely recommend it!

Oo baby!
I’ve been waiting for this book and it was so worth it!
We’re back in Belview and Seattle, Washington once more revisiting old friends and getting to know new ones in a, ahem, personal way.
This was a keep me up all night read. The only reason I had to stop at 1:30 in the morning is because I have little people in the house that would tear the place apart if I fell asleep on the couch in the morning.
We get a little Zach and Monica from Under the Bleachers, a moment of Chloe and Gavin from Up in the Treehouse, and now we get Desmond and Maggie!
I absolutely loved reading more about the cooking school, getting to know Desmond, and learning more about Maggie. This is an enemies to lovers, so expect fireworks! Opposites attract, for sure.
So Bree yourself a pot of coffee and get comfortable, because I can guarantee you’re not gonna move from that spot once you open this one up!

When Two lost souls became One...so good
Reviewed in the United States on 2 May 2020Verified Purchase
I love a good-feeling romance and KK Allen had written one hellion story. I wasnt expect the sassiness banter between Maggie and Desmond. These two lovebirds were the perfect enemies to lovers! They had the chemistry since the beginning and how they fell inlove with each other. Lost souls.. new confidence.. Through the lens really was an oh so good romance story. The angst between the feelings..
