A Throne for Sisters (Book One) Kindle Edition
--Books and Movie Reviews (Roberto Mattos)
From #1 Bestseller Morgan Rice comes an unforgettable new fantasy series.
In A THRONE FOR SISTERS (Book one), Sophia, 17, and her younger sister Kate, 15, are desperate to leave their horrific orphanage. Orphans, unwanted and unloved, they nonetheless dream of coming of age elsewhere, of finding a better life, even if that means living on the streets of the brutal city of Ashton.
Sophia and Kate, also best friends, have each other’s backs—and yet they want different things from life. Sophia, a romantic, more elegant, dreams of entering court and finding a noble to fall in love with. Kate, a fighter, dreams of mastering the sword, of battling dragons, and becoming a warrior. They are both united, though, by their secret, paranormal power to read other’s minds, their only saving grace in a world that seems bent to destroy them.
As they each embark on a quest and adventure their own ways, they struggle to survive. Faced with choices neither can imagine, their choices may propel them to the highest power—or plunge them to the lowest depths.
A THRONE FOR SISTERS is the first book in a dazzling new fantasy series rife with love, heartbreak, tragedy, action, magic, sorcery, fate and heart-pounding suspense. A page turner, it is filled with characters that will make you fall in love, and a world you will never forget.
Book #2—A COURT FOR THIEVES—is also now available!
“[A THRONE FOR SISTERS is a] powerful opener to a series [that] will produce a combination of feisty protagonists and challenging circumstances to thoroughly involve not just young adults, but adult fantasy fans who seek epic stories fueled by powerful friendships and adversaries.”

I got this first book as a free download, and also the second free, which encouraged me to start reading the series. Whilst never getting delving too deep on its characters, it also doesnt suffer from other fantasy stories of getting mired in pointless side stories or information . I found the characters likeable, if a bit predictable. The setting and magic backstory, a bit by the numbers but still well written and integrated with the story well. The villains feel especially well thought out and done from the standard nasty to the magical.
At the end of each story I have wanted to read the next one which is always a good tell on how well written it has been, however I do find the books very short for fantasy novels. I usually expect these to be at least twice as long if not 3 times, and have felt that some of these books could have been placed into one, rather than separate books.
This series does reuse a lot of fantasy standards (but then so do most) but compared to a lot of self published authors (and some normal published authors) I found this series to be of higher quality than the normal...with slight undertones of Brandon Sanderson threaded through out. It has been an enjoyable read so far and has made me want to try some of the other series available .
I did like the idea of the sisters' talents and the good v evil concept. The writing style was easy to read and the world-building good.
It's a harsh world and we are left with two cliff-hangers.
I did like it, though.
