Our story continues on from ACOHAA, where Underhill has been sealed from the Fae, and as a result they are slowly going mad. Or are they?
Oh how I love the world building in this series- the attention to detail brings realms to life in the mind of the reader. Combine that with a quest with twists and turns that keep you on the edge- and creates wonderful pace and tension within the novel. The ending of this book is epic!!!!
Allie and Lan’s relationship strengthens in book 2- these two smoulder with chemistry and desire- I am so looking forward to their bond growing in book 3.
Our memorable cast of characters add depth, humour and tension within this world. I really enjoyed the character development of the Oracle in this book. I loved the ancient kelpie with his dry derogatory sense of humour.
A fabulous read- am hanging out for the final.
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You can't stop reading unless adult things interupt you or you finish it.
Needless to say almost all of my adulting and paternal duties were mostly ignored until I devoured this.
The slow burn and romantic tension was great. It gave hints and teasers when I wanted them and gave just enough that I wasn't left with blue balls, but still wanting more.
The pace in this was most satisfactory and as I've come to expect with both St Clare and Mayer, they don't drag things out unnecessarily.
I found a couple of the plot reveals predictable but it didn't detract from my enjoyment.
There are quite a few YA Tropes in this and it did read more older YA than New Adult to me but that may be because I read a lot of Adult Fantasy. But I was living for the one bed trope *Squeals with glee*
Over all, this is a guilty pleasure series for me. It's not my favourite of either author but it's definitely a good time and so easy to read. I read this in 1.2 sittings. Could not put it down.
Kallik and Faolan continue their journey to find Underhill but it is plagued with obstacles.
We see more of the connection between Kallik and Faolan in this book even though their barriers go up and down.
The storyline is a little bit chaotic but Kallik is trying to unravel all the pieces so that fits with the mystery of the whole book.
Some secrets are revealed, some that are heartbreaking but Kallik soldiers through it all and ends up with some surprising information towards the end.
This is definitely quite the adventure so if you like epic fantasy with a bit of a modern day twist, pick up this series!
Can’t wait for the next one! It was so good. Thank you Shannon & Kelly! Amazing!

In this second installment of the Honey and ice trilogy Alli, as always, has a tough task ahead of her on her hunt to find the door to underhill.
We learn more about the backstories of our characters in this book, and Alli grows so much!
The relationship between Alli and Lan is also getting stronger, I love their banter and the romance is definitely kicked up a notch or two!
Its so hard to write a review without any spoilers, but If you like enemies to friend/lovers then you will love this.
I want to see more of Kelly and Shannon I seriously hope they team up for lots more books after this series because the writing is seamless and fits together so well.
I cant wait for the next book to be released as I think I will be suffering a serious book hangover untill then. The only thing I hate is that it will be the last one!
A Throne of Feathers and Bone (Honey and Ice Trilogy #2)
This was a more convoluted read than book #1. The tale was far more twisty & turny, it took us down what amounted to dead ends that then veered the story in other directions, with each new path adding more questions & revealing few answers.🙈😕
After their escape from Alli's execution, they go to the Unseelie castle. She meets the Queen for the first time. She is everything the Seelie Queen Consort isn't. After fleeing the Fae island Alli & Lan spend more time together, looking for the entry to Underhill. With diversions & near death experiences they're drawn closer constantly. After an explosion of their mixed magic causes devastation, Alli loses hope that she's worthy or that they'll ever be able to be together.💔
Truth lies in Underhill for them both, especially Alli, but is she ready to hear it?😲 What has become of Cinth?😔 Can Ruby calm the outcasts fury?🙏 Will war ruin them all?💥
This was a frustrating & captivating read. These Authors have a great writing chemistry, it's seamless.👍 Now the agonising wait begins for book #3.🙈 Enjoy the ride.🌟
