Product Description

From New York Times & USA Today Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a steamy new romance novel.

The rules:

No dating.
No sex outside of the game.
No disclosing the terms of the contract.

Rules were made to be broken, right?

Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. One that seemed like a good idea at the time. A handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules though. Lots of them actually. Follow the script, no dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal. After my self-imposed moratorium on men the last year, it wouldn’t be hard to live up to my end of the bargain…so I thought. Until I realized the deal I’d made was with the devil…and I was in love with his dirty-talking brother.

Author's note – Throb is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I received an arc of this for an honest review

I was a little unsure going into this book as I'm not a fan of reality TV and a reality TV show is the backdrop for this book. I'm glad to say that my initial judgement was so far off the mark... This book was really good... Funny, well thought out and realistic.

Kate applies for the reality TV show; Throb. The show is kinda like 'The Bachelor'... a group of girls competing for the attention of an up and coming rockstar. Most of the girls competing are doing so for the fame but Kate is doing it in the hopes of winning the prize money to help her family who are drowning in debt.

Whilst on set, she is invited to a poker game where she meets Cooper, A sexy, dirty talking God of a man. Kate and Cooper hit it off but there is a problem... whilst the show is being filmed, Kate isn't allowed to date, it's in the contract she signed and breaking the rules would end in a lawsuit that Kate cannot possibly afford.

From the moment he first see's her, Cooper wants Kate and will do anything to have her. Finding out that Kate is one of the participants in his brothers show, Cooper implants himself into the production of the show, pursuing Kate relentlessly.

Will Kate be able to withstand Coopers advances or will she succumb to the sizzling attraction between them?

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and portrayed the reality TV industry in a true to life fashion.

This was the first book I had read by this author and I will definitely be reading more of her work.

~this review may contain minor spoilers~

~Smoldering eyes staring intently into mine, mixed with a hard, muscular body just inches away, make it easy to forget that he's off limits. Banned. Forbidden. A complete violation of the rules of my contract. It only makes me want him more.~

When she signed the contract, all she was thinking about was how much her family needed the prize money. There were rules that HAD to be followed, quite a few actually but it all boiled down to -no relationships or sex outside of the game, and no discussing the contents of the contract. Seemed simple enough, especially considering she has been on a self-imposed hiatus for more than a year now. But that was before she met him. She wasn't counting on the dirty-talking tycoon that was about to flip her world on end or how hard it would be to say no to him... and she definitely wasn't counting on him not taking no for an answer or learning about the devil she made a deal with.

~Deep down I think I do blame her, maybe not for how the words were delivered tonight, but for not being able to give us a clean start. It's selfish, I know it is, I've seen the reason she's doing what she's doing, but I want her without qualifiers. Sneaking around, hiding something I feel the urge to publicly claim as mine, isn't in me.~

In the words of Cooper himself-Who can resist watching a car accident waiting to happen? That pretty much sums up this book-you know it's going to be messy, you know your gonna get ticked, you know it won't be pretty, but you just can't look away.

THROB is the first storyline in Vi Keeland’s adult, contemporary, new erotic romance series. This is movie executive Cooper Montgomery and poker player/ card dealer Kate Monroe’s storyline.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Kate and Cooper) the storyline focuses on THROB-a ‘reality’ television program akin to The Bachelor with a little bit of Survivor thrown in for good measure, where twenty young women vie for the attention of one man and a chance at $250,000. Kate Monroe will make it to the final four but not before falling in love with someone else-a man who is closely connected to the production company but a man whose need for Kate will completely pull her in another direction.

Cooper Montgomery is the man who will promise Kate the future. When Kate’s contract specifies no outside love interests, no dating and no sex, Cooper Montgomery will be forced to do something he doesn’t want to do in order to protect Kate from the media and potential ramifications of breaking the rules-Cooper will walk away from Kate leaving a heartbroken woman to pick up the pieces of her shattered soul..

The relationship between Cooper and Kate is one of immediate attraction. Introduced while playing a high end game of poker, Cooper is drawn to Kate like no other woman before. Their relationship begins to unfold and in this Kate risks everything to be with the man she is growing to love. The $ex scenes are intimate, arousing and hot. Cooper knows that for Kate to become involved outside of the show, is professional suicide when it comes to the final flower ceremony. But Kate is desperate to win the $250,000, and her reasons are personal and rest heavily at home.
