*Amazon Top 100 Bestselling Novel*
"A richly nuanced -- and smolderingly clever -- book about letting love shine in places where the past feels bigger than it needs to be. The cast of side characters range from quirky to mysterious, lending tremendous authenticity and depth to a romantic story that is so much more. A one-click must read!" Julia Kent, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

"A heartbreaking tale of letting go and learning to love again. A jaw-dropping debut novel you have to read.” - Helena Newbury, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author.

How do you start over when you gave everything to one life, one plan, and lost it all?

Althea refuses to allow herself to love again. Imprisoned in grief at twenty-four after her husband’s sudden death, she’s convinced her heart died along with him. She spends her days honoring his memory by clinging to the legal career he helped her to build and to the remaining pieces linking them together.

Griffen’s been running from his past. Despite success as an author and investigative journalist, he’s been traveling through life on autopilot. For a decade, he’s chosen perilous adventures and meaningless sex over the danger of any attachments. When he finally returns home to Pittsburgh, he’s slammed by the awakened memories and regret he’s spent years trying to escape.

A chance encounter brings them together. Their instant desire for each other – and the bond they discover between them – shocks them both. Despite her best efforts, Althea can’t resist Griffen’s charm or his intriguing proposition – if she agrees to a no-strings affair with him for the two weeks he’s in town, he swears he’ll walk away when their time is up. Assured she can test the waters of a new life while keeping her vow never to betray her husband’s memory by opening her heart to another, Althea throws herself into the escape Griffen provides her.

Their perfect plans go awry when the intensity of their connection overwhelms them. Will they risk it all on the chance of something great together…or will the power of their secrets and guilt tear them apart?

I was lucky enough to have won this book on facebook. I had read about it and wanted to read it, but my TBR is so huge. However, something about it just called to me and I had to drop everything and read it. This is a story of love, loss, pain, guilt, regret, forgiveness, angst, friendship and suspense. Chloe somehow gets all these emotions into the book with out being overwhelming or pushy. The writing is brilliant and the story is unique. Althea tragically loses her husband and she can't seem to let go of the loss and guilt she feels. She has amazing friends who are supportive of her but get her to see that it's time she moves on. She meets a handsome stranger and feels a connection with him that she hasn't had since her late husband. Griffen returns to Pittsburgh and sees Althea and knows that he has to have her. Their initial meeting is funny and very steamy. I love Griffen! He has a way with words that had me sighing through the entire book. Griffen and Tea have such amazing chemistry both in and out of bed. Their conversations are deep and meaning and fun and flirty. I love the nicknames they have for each other and the sex is HOT! I loved that this story was different. Not only the plot, but the characters, the feelings and even the sex scenes. I didn't feel like I was reading "another romance" story at all. The secondary characters were such a huge part of the story that I felt like I was there with them. Tea and her friends make me miss my girls! And Trey? Hello!
Can Griffen and Tea move past their regret and guilt and find happiness in each other's arms? Will the past come back and put a wedge between them? Do not miss this amazing story!

"Do I make you nervous? He asked.
"A little," she muttered in a voice she barely recognized.

Three Rivers was definitely a solid 4 stars for me! I love the fact that the story takes place in my hometown of Pittsburgh. The book starts off with a young Althea losing her husband. The love of her life. She quickly learns to step up and take care of responsibilities. Althea is basically living on auto pilot for years after her husbands death. Until she meets Griffen!

Griffen is a handsome and very successful writer. He has a very troubled past that he can't seem to move on from. Griffen has allowed his past to interfere with ever wanting a normal relationship. And then in walks Althea.

Without giving away the story, Griffen and Althea have an amazing chemistry and sexual attraction. They soon find out they are connected from their past. Will this new discovery impact their new arrangement? Three Rivers has heart ache, lust, love, suspense and a very satisfying ending. I highly recommend picking up this book and enjoying all of the emotions it will bring you!

This started out a bit heavy & sad with the loss of Altheas husband & how she handles the tragedy, taking her sometime to get back into dating etc. Her mother in law doesn't help matters.

Griffen has drifted & ends up being her first liasion. They meet again I suppose in some ways fate has a hand in this. Lots of drama & suspense ensue but I won't go into any detail so not to spoil it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it including the rapport she has with her 2 friends, who no doubt will be in future books of their own. Of course a HEA & could be read as a standalone however you will probably hear more of these 2 in the next few stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic. 28 June 2014
By Ramona Kekstadt - Published on Amazon.com

Tragic strikes Althea Taylor. She is left with something beautiful, but at the same time heartache for what she has lost. Her two best friends try to get her back in the land of the living. Brey and Jenna decide she has to get back out there. When she meets Griffen Tate it's only for one night, and she'll never see him again. The night they spend is intense. They have some kind of connection.

Althea and Griffen see each other again they can't believe it. They're both dumbstruck. She's not sure what to do. How can this be happening? When she finds how it's all related confused doesn't being to cover it.
When Griffen comes across something of Jack's he isn't sure of what to do. He turns to his good friend Trey, and what they find out is not good. It might put Althea in danger without more digging he can't tell her.

As things go on Althea and Griffen grow more fond of each other. He wants to be there, protect her if she needs it. The more and more he finds out it just builds his worry. The moments of true openings of there hearts and moments of epic passion are beyond amazing. It's has if two souls have found each other. She is so scared. Can she let somone else into her heart? Griffen has never belonged to anyone but he wants to take a chance. He's afraid she won't give them a chance. They both understand loss so maybe together they can help each other.

One of my favorite lines after Althea and Griffen leave the bar-
Is our girl safe with you?
You aren't a serial killer are you?
Don't lie to me, I can sniff out a liar."
"No, She's completely safe with me."
"Hmm, that is what a serial killer would say, but you seem honest. Here, let me take you picture. If anything happens to
her-you're toast," Aubrey snapped a shot, looked at and said, "hmm, can't see you butt in this one. I'm gonna need you to stand up and turn around.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book That Will Touch Your Heart 15 March 2014

When people ask for ideas on what to read, this book is now my #1 recommendation!

Althea, a young widow, has determined she will never find love again. Her friends and family are the only ones she allows close after the loss of her husband shattered her heart.

Griffen, a man running from the demons of his past, trying only to live in the present, finds himself back in his hometown, much to his displeasure.

How can two weary, emotionally scarred people learn to move beyond their past and grab hold of the happiness the other can bring them? While this book deals with heavy emotions, it’s also full of hope and laughter. The relationship between Althea and her two best friends is one of the top supporting character plots I have read in a romance book, ever. There are no superfluous characters in this book; each one is part of the story and holds their own. Each one is relatable, allowing me to immerse myself and get lost in the story.

There is sex in this book. Great, super-hot, makes you swoon sex. It’s not gratuitous, and it only adds to the story, building on the relationship between Griffen and Althea. And Griffen…oh my…what a beautiful, vulnerable, sexy character he is; I love Griffen! The strong, possessive and steadfast emotions he feels for Althea make him all that I look for and love in a character.

Three Rivers made me feel like I was in a river, in rapids, being carried away by the current of emotions the author expertly guided with her amazing writing. And what a ride it was! I can’t recommend this book enough, and it will definitely be a future re-read 

5.0 out of 5 stars Really turned out to be a good read... 22 November 2014
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I downloaded this book, but for some reason I procrastinated actually reading. ok, I had a lot of other projects going on, but that's really no excuse...for putting off a really good read.

the characters were really good. even though the female protagonist did irritate me at times it wasn't to the point of really disliking her. the male lead however was awesome. well written. the secondary characters were really great too.

the story was a good one as well. the aspect I couldn't grasp was the grieving widow to the extent she takes it or the guilt she feels for her husband's death. that was just difficult for me to grasp, and I'm a widow married for 22 years. ok, every one handles grief differently I get that, but it just felt OTT for me. that being said I guess it blended itself to the story.

the angst was kept to a minimum, but there was always the underlying tone of drama hanging in the background, including the suspense side plot. in just never got the chance of experiencing them as a couple free and clear. after everything cleared up the book was over.

all that being said, the writing was good. really no editing issues. dual POV was used which was a bonus for helping connect with the characters which is always a bonus for me.

in I encourage giving this book a read. there will be no real disappointment. in fact, you'll be like me and ready for the second in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection... Love Chloe Barlow... 1 April 2014

“Three Rivers is “Simply Spellbinding” from the prologue to the epilogue you will be hypnotized. I can’t even begin to express the author’s brilliance writing this book. Chloe Barlow writing is beautiful and addicting, she makes you fall in love with each of her characters throughout the story. Althea and Griffen captured my heart from the beginning. Althea story was heart breaking, but it made her stronger through her trials and tribulations dealing with her grief. Griffen is the perfect alpha male, with a sweet side to swoon over. The connection between Griffen and Althea was perfection, to love someone so unconditionally and completely is the true meaning of love and second chances. What started out as “Baby Steps” turned into hope, love and hot romance. Three Rivers is a book full of emotion, passion and angst that will leave you wanting more. Author Chloe Barlow your writing is flawless and truly amazing. The story of “Three Rivers” whispered to my heart and soul. You have a new fan, cannot wait for book two. . Five stars guaranteed, don’t hesitate just one click you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of relatable emotions! 27 April 2014
By JustJenn - Published on Amazon.com

I've lost immediate family members in the past, although never a husband or best friend, but the emotions of moving on are the same.
The guilt of loving someone else while another is in your heart is a difficult thing to do. This is also relatable to me. I came together with this book on many levels. I couldn't stop reading it.
This book is highly erotic at times leaving you searching for new undergarments. However, it's not too much that you wonder when she will continue with the sorry of their lives and what's going on with the main theme of the book. Some books, although a fantastic read, I would flip pages without reading them to get to part of the story that wasn't sex. Sex on very page is too much. I have a happy sex life so that may be why. Other readers may enjoy it on every page, not judgement here!
This was by far one of the best novels I've read to date. I'm looking forward to many other novels by Chloe Barlow.
