Product Description

Three friends, three wishes—one Christmas!

When three friends visit a shopping-mall Santa on a lark, the jolly old elf is full of mysterious predictions about the thing they're all wishing for: the perfect man. Or at least men who are perfect for them

Riley Erickson's fiancé turned out to be a dud, dumping her for her bridesmaid three weeks before the wedding. But Santa says that she's soon going to meet her ideal man in a memorable way.

And he predicts that a new man is about to come into Jo's life. What on earth does that mean? She's pregnant and already has her hands full with the perfectly stubborn husband she's got.

Noel has given up completely on ever finding her perfect match. But apparently Noel is going to get a good man to go with that house she's trying desperately to buy.

These friends are about to discover that Christmas wishes can come true, because in spite of romantic setbacks and derailed dreams, this truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

5.0 out of 5 stars *** Things happen for a reason.....*** 6 November 2016

This is a really sweet holiday story. Sometimes things really do happen for a reason. That is what Riley Ericson needs to remember. Three weeks before the wedding her fiancee called it off because he was now in love with Riley's maid of honor.

Then there is Riley's sister, Jo. Jo's husband is in the Navy and and she is due to have her first baby any day. Mike, her husband, is not due home for another three months and he wants to re-up but Jo is vehemently opposed. Jo doesn't want to raise her family alone.

Then there is Noel, Jo and Riley's friend. She is the author and illustrator of children's books. She also loves the house she is renting but her landlady is going to sell it. Noel wants to buy it but just doesn't have the money.

Find out how Santa works his magic for these three ladies. You really must pick up this one and read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a FUN Christmas read. 1 December 2016

What a skilled story teller - Roberts had me from the moment i read the back cover. Jo, Riley and Noel were such rich characters that they drew me right in to their world. I'm a Washington girl so I loved all the local references (and we Washingtonians do long for an occasional white Christmas.)

I won't give any spoilers, but each gals wish and Santa's promise had this girl ready to write her letter to santa. Each ending was perfect. I am glad Sheila Roberts was a special guest at Brenda Novak's Book Club or I might not have found her = i'm shopping now and will definitely be checking out more of her books.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'll never pick up a Sheila Roberts book again 8 January 2017

How this book has so many positive reviews, I will never understand! My expectations were for a cute, holiday novel that didn't require any thought. Trust me, I love a good cheesy romance novel, so I was not expecting Pulitzer Prize writing by any means.....This wasn't even kind of close. It just was not good. It was not cute. It was not Christmas. It was silly, childish, and beyond trite.

The story is about these 3 women (Riley, Jo, Noel) but I never felt like any of the girls were developed enough, especially the pregnant sister (all she did was whine and complain, ugh). And there was ZERO development of the guys they liked/loved at all! One guy is gone most of the novel and another guy doesn't show up at all until the last few chapters; there is more development of Riley's ex than of her new love....how weird is that??? Noel has continual conversations (in her head) with her children's book character.....what?! Riley does these weird math, story problems in her head during awkward situations....again, I ask you, what?! In your real life, do you do 4th grade math in your head??? And these weird, other random characters show up with no reasonable explanation (Roberts wanted more characters, maybe??)....for instance, one of the main girls "best friends" shows up for a few lines, even though the story is supposed to be about these three best friends.

And although the title CLEARLY states "Christmas" as a theme............it's not. There are a few mentions of Santa, putting up decorations, baking, etc., but truly, I'd be shocked if all the mentions/phrases/sentences took up more than a few pages of the entire book, which is supposed to be a Christmas book! I expected way more holiday spirit. I mean, one of the character's names is NOEL and that isn't explained or even "played with" at all during the story. It seemed so forced...a way to "mention" Christmas without having to actually deal with Christmas.

Finally, and a possible **Spoiler** here.............
the whole military reenlistment issue with Jo and her husband....I was VERY disappointed in how that turned out and truly, shocked that a character (Jo) who married a military man would act that way. Different if he'd gone in after they'd married, but come on........no way. I could go on about this issue (did Roberts research anything about the Navy and sailors and life on a sub before writing this???), but I think ya'll get my point.....

Don't read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommend HIGHLY! 9 December 2016

Omigosh, I SO enjoyed this book! It was the selected book of the month for Brenda Novak's Book Club, and I already have so many holiday books I haven't read, I almost didn't buy it. I really would have missed out on a good time! The writing was hilarious (loved the witty sarcasm, for example), and busy as I was when it arrived, I couldn't quit reading till I was on the last page! This could be a sell-out movie! Highly recommend it!

This was a cute Christmas story, and the first book I think I have read by this author. Sisters Riley and Jo and their friend Noel decide to make a trip to see Santa at the mall like they did as children. When Santa grants each of them a wish they take it in stride and continue on with their lives. Riley is a school teacher who was just dumped by her fiance 3 weeks before their wedding....for her bridesmaid and fellow teacher Emily. Jo is a Navy wife who is 9 months pregnant, wants her husband home, and he wants to reenlist. Noel is a children's book illustrator who is moderately successful and does not have the money to buy her house (that she loves!) that her landlady wants to sell in a big hurry. Things get real interesting when a house flipper steps in to buy it and Noel sets out to stop him. It really does not hurt that he is easy on the eyes! What each of them go through to get what they want makes for a very entertaining read! I got what I was looking for in this story, a feel good, lighthearted Christmas tale!
