Top Customer Reviews

By Karen's Book Haven TOP 100 REVIEWER on 30 April 2015
Format: Kindle Edition
I’m really surprised by this book. It has an interesting hook, lots of heavy, sexy sex and a hero that deserves much more of the book than he was given. Once again, KS has given me a character that I absolutely hate. (Anyone who has read my review of Hourglass knows my hatred for Luke!)
There is nothing bad about this book for the pacing, the style or the way it’s written – it’s the characters. No – I need to correct that – it’s the character. The heroine.
KS can certainly write a heroine that confuses me. Brianna demands that she wants space, want her own life but it comes via daddy’s dime. Way to go there Princess – you really showed how you stand on your own two feet! She really has no integrity and for the majority of the story – she pissed me off and almost made me give up on the book. What a gift for this author to give me a character that I pretty much hate. It’s only because of KS’s writing that I didn’t. She has been known to create confusing characters (Luke!) but they eventually start to show some redeemable feature. Any time I would get a glimmer of me possibly changing my mind (the moving out) she blows it (Daddy’s dime). Really, she’s a manipulator.
Duke Thrasher is intense. He is a man who goes after what he wants and makes things go his way. Why he is besotted with a girl like Brianna is beyond me. She seems so immature in comparison.
There’s sex. Lots of sex. Again, Brie doesn’t really shine through any of that either. If anything, she shows how unhinged she really is. I wished there was more content on how Duke was coping through all her escapades. Seeing his side of the story would have lifted my opinion a lot.
I want to make this very clear. There is nothing wrong about this book for the writing.
