From the Publisher

C.G. Drews lives in Australia with her dog, a piano, and the goal of reading every book in existence. Consequently, her brain has overflowed with words and she spends her days writing novel after novel. She blogs at paperfury.com, never sleeps, and believes in cake for breakfast. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Review

...a read that will make you think and leave you wanting more.--Fabulous Book Fiend

...it is hard-hitting at times, but it is also full of hope, possibility and determination and it will have you flinching, crying, holding your breath and rushing to turn the page.--Rachael at Waterstones Altrincham

...it's heartbreaking and everything I never knew I needed.--Ilsa - Whisper of Ink

...shocking, but ultimately hopeful, tale.--EVENT (Mail on Sunday)

...this was just flawless. It really outlined so many issues; physical and mental abuse, but the themes of hope balanced it perfectly.--Sammy's Shelf (blog)

A quick YA with plenty of punch.--Read by Jess (blog)

A Thousand Perfect Notes can only be described as utterly disheartening and powerful. [...] I can't wait to read more of what C.G. Drews has up her sleeve.--Bex Clare, Autumn Frost

A Thousand Perfect Notes takes a searingly powerful look at the theme of parental obsession... The book's final notes will linger in the air long after the last page has been turned.--Crime Review

I would recommend this book to pretty much anyone who wants a hard-hitting contemporary read...--Book Browsing Blog

Moving and hopeful and completely brilliant - this is a fantastic debut and I can't wait to see more from C. G. Drews.--Rachel Meier - Canterbury Waterstones

Music and its transformative power. First love and its intense sweetness. Domestic violence and its pernicious enforcing of secrets. How does one create a magical and powerful story from such disparate ingredients? Well, read on. A Thousand Perfect Notes is a read of great intensity on multiple levels.--The Book Bag

This is a gripping story [...] Please go out and buy this if you can. It is so heartbreakingly wonderful.--Steph Elliott, A Little But a Lot

Viscerally violent from the opening sentence, authentically raw, and painful to read at times, this is a superbly told, emotionally charged story of obsession, abuse and the wonderful, terrible power of music both to destroy and, ultimately, to redeem.--Teach Secondary (online)

What an incredible book, truly magnificent - and it's fantastic to see YA discussing issues it seems to have shied away from in recent years.--No Safer Place --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!
By Amazon Customer on 4 September 2018
All Beck has ever known is the piano. Ever since his mother had a stroke and can no longer perform, she has been living through him. Day in, day out, all his spare time is spent practicing. Learning the notes. Perfecting the pieces. All for her. Until he meets August. And she changes everything.

Can she save the music that he has hidden away?

As a musician and a music teacher, this book made me angry. The way his mother treats him. Forces him to practice, it made me so angry. I felt so sorry for Beck. But I was hooked. I had to know if he managed to get his music out. I had to know what happened. It was so well written and made you fall in love with Beck.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can’t recommend this enough!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 May 2019
I can’t even begin to express my deep - and somewhat painful - love for this book. I’m crying. It’s going to take me some time to find the right words for it, but for now... my heart is torn and ripped to shreds.
I completely devoured this book. I felt it. I don’t know how else to put it other than I felt it. It brought me back to certain painful parts of my past that my brain has done an incredible job of letting me block out and forget. I loved this book, but also hated it.
I can’t recommend it enough.

It’s been about month since I read this book and I forgot to post a review and I’m still so emotional whenever I think of it.

I’ve started reading the authors other book (The Boy Who Steals Houses) and I’m already loving it!!
