Product description

Little change, more comfortable
The tail designed with U shape , more comfortable and more effortless to turn on/off or change mode

Redesigned for Higher Quality
C8 model is very popular and it's branded by many xxxFire brands. But this one is not like the cheap made one. Refering to the second pic on the detail page, you will know we redesigned the C8, making it a much better light which deserves higher price.

Ultra Bright LED Flashlight
Driven by 2.8A high current, the ThorFire C8s flashlight gives out max 900 lumens on High. You might know other xxFires C8 lights claims to be 1000LM or even higher than 1300LM. But this led gives out max 1198 lumens at 3A, 25°C which is tested in lab. When installed in flashlight, it's really hard to reach 1198 lumens. Hence ThorFire C8s is brighter than the cheap made C8 lights in the market.

Simple 5 Modes
ThorFire C8s 5 modes: Moonlight/Low/Mid/High/Strobe. High(900LM)is really bright to outdoor activities or riding and range is about 600 meters. Low (30LM) and Mid(280LM)can be met the general daily use. Moonlight (0.5LM) is really low to protect your night vision, check babies, find keys, check machines etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pocket rocket - great bang for buck and bright, powerful light. Most power single cell XLM C-2 LED flashlight!
Reviewed in Australia on 3 January 2018
WOW!

Weighing in at 113 grams and only 16cm long, you could excuse this ThorFire C8s flashlight for being underpowered.
It fits easily in one hand - even a small hand.

The design is pretty standard but it looks nice and solid. IPX-8 waterproofing is a nice bonus.

The C8s uses an XLM C-2 LED which is the same LED used in literally hundreds of similar sized lights including the Nitecore P12, Nitecore HC30, Convoy S2+ and Convoy S8 - all of which I own. The C8s costs less than 30% of what a Nitecore P12 does and is superior in every way!

I was very pleasantly surprised when I fired up my C8s. It casts a reasonably focused beam a long way!

You can easily highlight trees more than 160m away with this light. It makes the P12 look like a cheap toy as it struggles to adequately light the same trees up. That is despite the fact that the nominal light output of the ThorFire at 900 lumens is less than Nitecore's claimed 1000 lumens.

The way ThorFire extract the most from this light is by drawing 2.8 amps to power the LED - meaning you want decent 18650 batteries to run it (my suggestion Panasonic 18650B or better). Most of the other XLM C-2 powered flashlights draw less amps - yet claim higher lumens - you do the maths....

ThorFire claim this is the most powerful single battery powered, single XLM C-2 LED flashlight in the market. My experience suggests ThorFire are correct. I am very impressed, particularly given the price!

The C8s offers 5 modes:
Moonlight/Low/Mid/High/Strobe.

A single light click of the rear mounted on/off button changes between the 4 normal modes. Double light click the on/off for strobe mode.

Other than the modes, there are no beam adjustments that can be made with this flashlight. It throws a reasonably narrow, bright beam a long way.

If you are considering buying this light, just do it. At less than $20 AUD delivered you won't get better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good easy to carry thrower flashlight (sample provided thanks Thorfire)
Reviewed in Australia on 7 January 2018
Good sized small thrower- I'm in a built up area but it goes at least 200 meters - I like the LED used as well (CREE XM-L2) as the hot spot is a little bigger then a XPL - hi.
Pretty good ergonomics - the cut out in the tail cap and the size makes it comfortable to use and it's small enough to fit in my work pants.
Good for using at work (I'm a conductor on a night train and using it on moonlight works pretty good so I don't wake people up or trip or someones legs) and walking home at 4 am the low mode is good for not tripping on things. Would be great for when the train breaks down to have a pocket spotlight (yes it breaks down rarely).
Good modes (High/Mid/Low/Moonlight) with hidden strobe (double click to access) that might come in handy at work if I get assaulted by someone. Testing it out by shining in my own eyes it is a pretty distracting and really not recommended.
It would work well as a bike light (haven't tried it yet but will soon) and I imagine would work as a hunting light (bring spare batteries if you do using it on high all the time)
I'm using it with 18650 protected batteries which are longer then unprotected ones and they fit just fine (2 x CR123A work as well but I didn't try them).
I have the Convoy C8 as well (probably better throw and warmer tint) and I prefer the Thorfire (larger hot spot so you can see more at night)with its simple mode choices and I much prefer it's tail cap.
Tint is a cool white
Lumen levels aren't mentioned in the manual but are apparently .05, 30, 280 and 900 lumen's. Moonlight mode on mine seems a little brighter in is probably closer to 3 lumen's.
Run times?? No idea not mentioned in the manual.
Seems waterproof and still works after sitting in my sink.
Threads fairly dry when received and need lubrication and the light can be locked out by unscrewing the tail cap a little for storage.
A little big for an EDC light maybe but small enough to cart around in a bag (or if you have bigger pockets)
As mentioned in the title sample provided by Thorfire for review - I'd still like it even if I paid full price

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent version of a classic form factor
Reviewed in Australia on 11 January 2018
ThorFire has delivered an excellent execution of the C8 light. The C8s is covered in a smooth, matte anodisation, in comparison to the glossy, shiny finish of the Ultrafire and Convoy variants. The light is slightly longer than other C8, although this and the U shaped tailcap does not affect its ability to tailstand. There is knurling on the tailcap which is improves grip, generally the knurling is excellent, along with well cut square threads and smooth joins. However there was a small mark on the anodisation near the heat fins (shown in the picture), this does not detract from the overall package. The glass lens is not AR coated, however both the lens and reflector arrived flawless. C8s runs a XM-L2 mounted on a copper board, the led is slightly rotated from the centering disc and there is some over spill of thermal paste, these are minor concerns though. To drive the led, a single sided buck driver is attached, soldering is clean and spring mounted is of reasonable thickness.

On to the light performance, there are 4 modes, spaced well (see attached images), with a 5th mode of Strobe available with double tap when on. The available modes Moonlight, low, med, high appear accurate to manufacture description (pictures taken w/ locked Apt and ISO), running on a fresh LG HE2. Beam profile is good as expected of the C8 head, great for mid to long range use. Heat dissipates along the body well, although no extensive rundowns have been completed, no issues have arisen in the week of testing nor expected in the future.

Overall ThorFire delivered an upgraded version of the C8 form, which presents as a well priced, premium feeling light.
The modes are well spaced, anodisation is excellent, and construction is of a premium product. Although mine arrived with a slight mark of the anodisation there is no reason to expect other lights will.
