About the Author
Annie Grace has had a unique life from the very beginning. She grew up in a one-room cabin without running water or electricity in the mountains of Colorado and then, at age 26, became the youngest vice president in a multinational corporation. Success, however, led to excessive drinking and the possibility that she might lose everything. Annie recognized her problem but chose to approach it in an entirely new way. Annie's program has been featured in Forbes, the New York Daily News, and the Chicago Tribune. Annie is successful, happy, and alcohol-free and lives with her husband and three children in the Colorado mountains.

It does a great job of constantly questioning your assumptions, conscious or subconscious, about drinking.
I used it to also get a better handle on sugar consumption.
What it does not do is help you unpack your emotions if you drink to numb pain associated with trauma. Well it sort of does but the author recommends you get professional help.
There are a lot of sources referenced which support the arguements presented. My only minor pet peeve is that sometimes the source that was referenced was a webpage which cited statistics or something similar but that page wasn't the source of the original research.
My main take aways were:
The book on Liminal Thinking - the author was great to reference and provide thanks to that author.
The research that shows denial of something is actually more draining on the brain (and unsustainable) than changing your subconscious attitudes so you can make your decision to not drink a clear and definitive one (even if that changes in the future).
If you're struggling with alcohol, may you have the strength and wisdom to say the course - try this book as a start.

I gave up the idea within a week and went back to my usual weekend wine time.
Then in April 2018on a very boozy holiday, I started to read the kindle version of the book. Something clicked and I knew that I didn’t want to carry on treating myself so badly, regretting drinking, feeling fed up etc. Through reading this books and dispelling the myths that I had grown to believe about “what alcohol gives me” I was able to see that there were actually zero positives to drinking. I knew that my life was going to change completely, and it has. I’m now 7 months free of alcohol. I credit this book as being the catalyst for that change. Ending the cognitive dissonance I felt around drinking was the key. Annie Grace goes into great detail about this in the book and takes the reader through ‘liminal points’ each of which dispels one of the the drinking culture myths that we are all brainwashed to believe.
If you want to stop, or are questioning the role that alcohol plays in your life, please buy this book. It’s awesome in the truest sense of the word.
It has really been life changing.
Maybe I will continue to read it despite not enjoying its strange 'liminal moments'.
