"[Bornikova's] characters, human and supernatural alike, possess complexity and depth, and her heroine is tough and immediately likable. Strong storytelling, appealing characters, and an intriguing setting make this urban fantasy series opener likely to have great appeal to the genre's many fans." --Library Journal (Starred Review; Debut of the Month for August 2012)

"Linnet's modus operandi--using the law instead of magical weapons against supernatural peril--is a refreshing change of pace. . . . The clever, active protagonist makes this a lively and enjoyable read." --Publishers Weekly
"Phillipa Bornikova is perhaps not the first person to compare attorneys to vampires, but her exciting debut, This Case is Gonna Kill Me, is a fresh take on both urban fantasy and the classic legal thriller. Linnet Ellery is a smart heroine who tackles the cutthroat world of vampire law with both wit and bravery. An intelligent, gripping debut!" --Jaye Wells, author of the Sabina Kane series
"A refreshing new take on an old idea, with a strong, intelligent and independent protagonist: a highly promising debut." --Kirkus Reviews

This is a fun, fast-paced romp, with an interesting background, and a protagonist who uses her lawyer smarts, and her surprising luck, to cut a swathe through werewolf antagonists and office politics. The case is closed by the end, but there are enough loose ends back in in the office that there’s sure to be more need for Linnet’s luck in future.
Awesome debut novel. While I'm not disappointed that the book ended, I'm ready for another already. I've never met this author or heard of her before, but I love the way she words things. I want to know more about her world, and the way to learn about that is to read another book. Full of unanswered questions, she has a new fan in me. The book is rich in information without ever feeling "info-dumpy."
Many reviews seem to think the protagonist isn't someone they can relate to, but I sure did!

Congratulations to the author.
This book can stand with the best books I've encountered this year.
Several reviewers objected to the character of the heroine. I thought it was a strength that the author wrote her as a complete character, with positive and negative characteristics. I even didn't mind that there was a lot of technical information about different horse breeds. I learned some new stuff. Since I plan to read the next book in the series, I'm hoping we don't go over the same info about horse breeds again though.
