The book is called, They Both Die at the End. All the way through the book, despite having read the reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, I expected a 'love will save the day,' miracle. What happened was, They Both Died at the End and I read the last 10% of this book through tear-smudged glasses.
I loved every minute of my time with Mateo and Rufus on their last day. The characters genuinely develop as the book progresses and for it all to have happened in 1 last day is impressive. Interspersed with their stories were the stories of others who would die that day and those who wouldn't.
Ultimately, the book left me feeling inspired and ready to kick off my fears and go out there and live a life of adventure. It's a beautiful, sad, empowering, heart-wrenching tale of the power of love over fear.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a book you can dive deep into and lose yourself amongst the well-drawn characters.
