It's not that hard to clean either, I just follow what other posters mentioned, where I wash it with hot water right after I'm done with it, and a little scrubbing the top part. If you leave it for the night it could be a little bit harder to clean.
It's a little hard to open after filling it up for the first time, requires a little bit of muscle force.
Update: After a few months of use it stopped holding drinks hot, it'd get warm in less than an hour. Never washed it in the dishwasher, always handled it with care.
Rewind to a few nights ago. I laid down for a nap, and I was immediate called to work (I'm fairly certain they have a sensor in my pillow) so no nap for me. I fired up the microwave, which contained water I had waiting in a Pyrex measuring cup, and my coffee pot, almost simultaneously, before hopping in the shower. After my shower, I filled the thermos with the piping hot water while I finished packing my lunch, and my grip (which is railroader slang for an overnight bag)... Right before I left for work, I swapped the hot water out, and the coffee into the thermos.
By the time I made it to the hotel, I'd been awake for just shy of thirty hours. That was at noon, yesterday. I'm still in the hotel the following morning (0800), so I figured I'd see if my coffee was still at least warm...
Much to my surprise, it was actually still hot. Not scalding, but appropriate drinking temperature. Mind you, it's been in the thermos for 35 hours now.
Color me impressed. Well worth the price of admission.
The cup is double sided and works great for hot soups or cold drinks. You can pour from the spout just by twisting it one and a quarter turns without having to remove it completely and lose heat (or cold). 40 ounces is plenty big to hold a day's worth of homemade lime and stevia water. You gotta drink a lot of something, water in my case, when you're going low carb. The handle is sturdy as you would expect and the whole thing feels bulletproof. If I gace products 5 stars, this would probably be on the list but I'm saving the 5 star for something that really blows me away.
I finally got fed up with the traffic and lack of competing products to choose from when shopping at the local big-box stores so now I do almost all my shopping on Amazon. I recently read "Cyber Fraud: The Web of Lies" by Brian Seely, about Google Map frauds and have taken to heart that the best way to counter fake reviews is for legitimate customers to post more real reviews. Currently, 100% of my reviews are for products that I paid full price for. In the future, if I some how manage to convince a company to send me something for free, you can rest assured that I won't be changing my opinion of a product based on what I paid for it. I want the best products available and we should all be able to know what they are. If you find this review helpful, witty, charming, absurd, let me know by clicking on one of those buttons right there...no, a little lower, now right...there!
