Abby discovers that she has always been a witch, and just didn't know it, after her mother dies. She initially rejects the idea as nonsense, but when strange things start to happen around her, she learns the hard truth about her life, and her town.
This is a good start to a new series. A short read, but a lot happens and it holds your interest. The characters are fun to read, and I always love a talking pet - especially a sassy one! I hope there'll be a book two, I would love to read more.

If you're a fan of Carolyn Aspenson, this has her story only with Witches and Warlocks and Shapeshifters who become Wolves Oh My!Reviewed in the United States on 18 April 2020
Seriously, I forgot I ordered this book before it came out until I heard Carolyn Ridder Aspenson mention it in a Facebook Live she did this week. I admitted to her I had to set an alarm to get up to attend her Live by 10 AM. The next day, after finishing the latest Mark Dawson book, I began There's a New Witch in Town. At 3 AM I told myself I really needed to turn in! Reminiscent of ReGina Welling and Erin Lynn's Fate Weaver series, this story has a daughter learning she's a witch on her mother's death bed! Mom had bound her powers to allow her to have a life as a 'normal,' then make her decision of she wanted to embrace her powers. It seems the Odell family comes from a long line of very powerful witches. With Abby having a powerful Warlock for a father and an Odell witch as a mother, the whole town wanted TO know how she would turn out. So Abby thinks everyone knows imma witch but me? Well, maybe not the normals like her best friend Stella. Now an Aunt and Uncle she never knew she even had seen to want her dead to take away her powers! This isn't your typical Cozy story at all! Enjoy reading it and if you want people who talk to the Dead and no witches, see her Angela Panther murder !mystery stories with a great deal of mother daughter sass. Except mother is a ghost!
What would you do if you found out you were a witch?Reviewed in the United States on 19 February 2020
This author is fantastic. The book was witty, funny and a light read. The characters are great and the plot as most cozies that I have read is easy to follow. She gets a divorce, her mother dies, she finds out she is witch and someone is out to get her, she performs a spell and her cat talks, every time she touches her swipes her nose something happens, I would love to have her powers. This book is great, I would recommend it to anybody who wants a light read. Thank you!!

This is about Abigail and The Enchanted bookstore.Reviewed in the United States on 21 November 2020
This story starts with the death of Abigail's mother. Who surprises her by telling Abigail that she is a witch then passes away in the night. After the funeral, Abby goes to the Enchanted bookstore where Bessie was. Bessie acted more like a mother to Abby than her own mother did. When Abby goes to visit her mother she finds a dead woman under her mother's name. She is an aunt Abby never knew about. Shot dead. Now an uncle she never about is after Abby for her "powers", not only does Abby write about a witch in books ... she IS a witch. She needs a crash course in learning her newfound powers to stay alive! Lots of things that are hard for Abby to understand is going on in this book. But will she be able to survive her uncle? Enjoy this wonderfully delightful story to find out.
Excellent first in series read!Reviewed in the United States on 16 July 2020
There's a New Witch in Town (Holiday Hills Witch #1), my eighth highly enjoyable read from author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Well-written & enjoyable, I was only familiar with this author from the Lily Sprayberry Realtor mysteries. I was given a copy of Witch This Way (Holiday Hills Witch #2) & hadn't read this book yet so I went out & bought it to read first. An excellent read, I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
