Product Description

“We’re locked in a building, trapped underground, surrounded by things that want to kill us … and you want to turn out the lights?!”

What can you do when the only thing more terrifying than being trapped in the dark is to be caught in the light?

After a covert project goes horrifically wrong, a group of survivors struggle to escape an office building before it becomes their tomb. In an environment where death waits behind every door, not all will make it out. As survival becomes less and less certain, the only way out is to face the greatest terror of all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read 2 October 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Sometimes I like to read a book without having read the synopsis. That’s what I did here. And I’m glad as the synopsis doesn’t do this justice. Cawthorne takes what is, by now, a well-known concept and puts a new spin on it, a somewhat disturbing new spin. Not afraid to take us to dark places, both literally and metaphorically, he leads us through the harrowing escape from hell for the survivors of an accident. The story moves along at a steady clip and you’ll be wishing you hadn’t started reading it just before going to bed – trust me. And don’t relax, never relax. Even to the last sentence.
4.0 out of 5 stars A truly brilliant work of horror fiction. 1 October 2015

Excellent. Gently ambling prose and a keen eye for description really highlight the tension and atmosphere in this story. Cawthorne creates such vivid imagery, particularly in scenes of darkness where he paints with all the characters' senses in his efforts to draw you in, and force you to experience the horrors for yourself. The characters themselves have genuine depth, and I found myself sympathising with, rooting for, and hating with equal measure; sometimes shifting between said reactions fluidly, as the nuances of each persona brought themselves to light.

Read it over two days. Couldn't resist its call. It is not a long ride, but it is a great one. Well worth the astonishingly low price.
