I was mortified at the malicious actions of humans against their own kind. The chapter where the description of 57 kinds of torture, was terrifying. A must read for those who expect good things from ideologies that are steeped in power.
A detailed but shocking account of mans inhumanity to man.The perpetrators of these crimes are/were devoid of any human decency .Is it possible that this state of affairs is still continuing on in this "enlightened"age?
Unless lessons are learned from history they are bound to repeat themselves.
Bro, just started it. About 4 chapters in and mind is blown. Learnt about this stuff in school but no one explains these times in the Soviet Union as insightful and relatable, even to a western millennial like me, as this great author. One minute my blood boils in anger over some of the atrocities described, while next minute I can somehow relate to those committing said crimes. Highly recommend!
