I first started reading this story back in the 80's, lost my books over time and am now in the process of re-aquiring them.....Great story !

A Sci-Fi ClassicReviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2013
The book starts like a fantasy, then slowly it dawns that we are in post-apocalypse USA. Very much of the time, the nuclear holocaust we used to half expect happened. We meet some of the key characters in this world and follow the Horseclans as they follow the prophesy given to them by their now returned undying god. Written for enjoyment, it succeeds at this level; a graphic romp without any moral or political correctness. Very much of its time but fun for all that.
Robert Adams Horseclan books are a wonderful window into my past for meReviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2014
Robert Adams Horseclan books are a wonderful window into my past for me, Coming of the Horseclans was the first book I remember reading (that didn't have cats, balls and ducks that is) and I have read it and his other work hundreds of times over the years, it's well written, fun and offers a wonderfully exciting take on the future of mankind post nuclear holocaust
The Coming Of The Horse ClanReviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 February 2014
Read this years ago, its a quick read with simple black and white characters simple plot although probable not politically correct these days.
Rugged and entertaining.Reviewed in Germany on 30 May 2011
After the apocalypse America is a feudal world where two groups vie for power: the horseclans, led by mutants, try to reorganize along ethical lines, while the remaining and hidden scientists work towards a brutal dictatorship. This novel is the first of the horseclan series which has 18 novels and it introduces some of the main characters of the series. The author is a former career soldier and the story is rugged and entertaining, with a strong ethical yearning. Some torture scenes seemed unnecessarily detailed to my taste. Overall impression good.
