Product Description

Pain isn’t new to me.

I’ve been to hell only to find it never really leaves when you get back. It haunts me through nightmares, unrequited love, lies, broken hearts, and now death.

A monster almost took my life.
My best friend carries half my soul a world away.
My boyfriend broke my heart but refuses to let me go.
And my father is dead.

I don’t believe in fate and I don’t believe in happily-ever-afters, but for some reason, I still hope.

Live, even with a tainted spirit.
Long for my other half to come back to me.
Risk another broken heart, just to feel loved again.
And refuse to let another horror break me.

In the face of my most recent tragedy, I have to decide whether forgiveness is something I can give. But even if that’s an option, can I be forgiven?

He is the last person I need to be talking to, and the second person I've wanted to talk to since this happened. I know exactly who is standing before me, and I know without a doubt that if I let him back in, I will be hurt and betrayed all over again.

Josie Sommers has been through more than her fair share of heartache over the past several years, and while she has gotten through it, she has been left with some deep rooted scars. In the wake of her most recent tragedy, the passing of her Daddy, she is confronted by more pain from her past in the form of ex-boyfriend Blake. He betrayed her like no other and he is the last person she wants to see, but he is determined to get Josie to give him a second chance, an opportunity to make things right and possibly fall in love with him again. Josie is lonely, depressed, and broken; what she really wants is the comfort of her life-long best friend and the man she fell in love with long ago, but Seth abandoned her and is half way across the country living his life without her, so she decides to maybe give Blake a chance. She doesn't know if she'll ever be able to forgive him, but whats more is, she doesn't know if he will ever be able to forgive her once he finds out what she has been hiding from him. Relationships cannot be built on lies, but what happens when the truth may be more than they can handle; is forgiveness really possible?

Seth had saved me. He'd saved me from Michael. He'd saved me from my fear of intimacy. He'd saved me from everything. Seth is more than half my soul. Without him, I'm barely living.

To put it simply I loved it. Thanks to Victoria for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I connected with Josie on a level that I often do not have the chance to experience with other characters in books- and I thank you for that. The topics explored in this book are explored with sensitivity. I applaud you for exploring topics people often avoid speaking about as they can evoke strong feelings.
Can I also just say I am totally torn between team Seth, and team Blake. Honestly, I have just decided that I will have both :P
I have written a more in depth review of this book on my blog, please feel free to read and comment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super frustrating but oh so good! 31 July 2016
By Amy Crull - Published on

Here are my thoughts on this book.....
First off, this book is so frustrating. Josie is a character I love to hate. She is hiding so many secrets and lying at same time. She has a guy who she loves but refuses tell him how she really feels about him. She knows who she wants but keeps pushing him away. She continues to stay with a guy who treats her good but has secrets of his own. I really want to like Josie but at the same time punch her in the face for being so stupid.
Seth is saint for putting up with what he has. He's madly in love with Josie but has to keep his feelings bottle up. He pretends to be interested in other girls but they aren't what he wants. He finally has enough and leaves her alone. I feel awful for him.
Blake is good guy at heart I think but doesn't know to handle certain situations. He keeps things buried and doesn't let people in. Honestly with what I read in this book, I'm not sure who I want with Josie. There's so many secrets and lies in this book. I swear the only normal ones are Brandon and Brooke. I really hope book #2 is better and less frustrating. I also hope Josie pulls her head out of her butt and tells the truth for once. She deserves to be happy with the right man, one who will love unconditionally.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's a Promise was such a great book! Theirs not much I can say without ... 22 October 2014

That's a Promise was such a great book!

Theirs not much I can say without ruining it for anyone who hasn't read it. I feel like the tiniest little detail could give away a huge part of the story.

That's a Promise is the story pain and betrayal.

Josie is a girl who has been through a lot. Because of traumatic experiences she doesn't like to be touched by anyone. Josie didn't want to let her past control her, so she decides to finish off college away, with her best friend since forever, Seth.

Blake is delish. He has the look of the bad southern boy, but he's as sweet as he is sexy. It doesn't take long before they are both completely head over heels for each other.

Blake discovers that him and Josie have a lot more in common than they thought. But what he found out is something that could ruin them forever.

Victoria's writing held me captive from page one. That's a promise was filled with heartache, love, lies, and betrayal. Their are so many aspects to this story. Once you find out what you thought would be the OMG factor to the story, you get hit with an even bigger WTF moment.

That's a Promise leaves you wanting so much more! It was a well deserved 5 stars!

I cant wait to read the next book in the series, to see what happens next.

If you love a good story with a lot of twists, turns, and a bunch of sexiness; That's a Promise is the book for you.

Victoria, you created a forever fan in me!

********************MATURE RATED DUE TO SEXY SMUT AND LANGUAGE ********************

"That's a Promise" is the first book in a three part series. I give this book 3 1/2 stars!

I downloaded this book free and was so excited to read it. I love the story plot but I don't like books with a lot of sexy smut and talk. I know I am probably the only one out there that prefers to stick with romances with less sex and bad language. There was also some moral issues in this book that was hard to read so expect the unexpected with this series!

This story is about Josie Sommers, her best friend since she was six-Seth Montgomery and someone whom she met in college-Blake J Porter. The plot goes back and forth from the past and present to help catch you up on the memories between the three characters.

This love triangle will be full of betrayal and learning how to forgive and coming clean with one another. Josie doesn't live a fairytale life but a life to cope and trying to heal from a terrible traumatic attack that happened to her a few years ago.

Will Josie find her strength to survive the betrayal or will her our dishonesty risk her losing her soulmate? This book does end in a cliffhanger but the next book is out soon and trust me, it is worth the wait.

"I will always love you, Josie. I will spend the rest of my life trying to show you and making it up to you. I promise."

"I have never met a woman as strong as you, Josie. I knew when I first met you that I didn't want to ever let you go, but it was in that moment that I knew for sure you would be the only girl for me. I wanted to protect you and take care of you for the rest of my life."

"One week, Jo. Then you can decide if we can't try to make this work. YOu can decide if we were meant to be nothing but a memory."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Emotional Read. 3 November 2014

From the very beginning I was hooked, and even after I finished I'm still feeling it. It's a wonderful emotional roller coaster. There are twists and turns at every corner.

Josie is a young woman that's experienced more than the average person. She has experienced loss, betrayal, love, hate, and demons. It's all shaped her into the woman she is today. An elementary school teacher. Who loves 2 men.

Seth is her tatted up sexy bad boy best friend. He has a play boy side, but when it comes to Josie he is always all in. He'd do anything for her, and for that I love him dearly.

Then you have Blake, who while being cute, fun, sweet, and all the wonderful characteristics in a guy he is hiding a secret. A secret in which tears him and Josie apart.

I had a love hate relationship with Josie.

That's a Promise is a wonderful read. I highly recommend. So #1click away. :)
3.0 out of 5 stars Emotional Rollercoaster 2 March 2014

This was a great story, but I found it complicated at times. The story goes from Present to Past throughout the whole book. You really need to pay attention to that so you can follow the details easier.

There is a lot going on in this story. It's an emotional roller coaster of a read. How much heartache can one person handle? Once you think you have it all figured out BAM she throws in another shocker.

Lots of sex! Almost too much. *gasp* I know, lol. I love to read erotic books but the reason I say there was too much is because the story wasn't based off of a sex scene(s) such as a BDSM based novel. Yes, I know college peeps love to get their freak on, but still. Make it more about the actual story and what will happen between the characters and the trials and tribulations they will go through not just about the sex. Maybe it's just me, but I wanted to know what was happening next! I knew they'd be getting it on, but it felt like it was every other chapter.

Don't expect your fairytale happily ever after.

This is the first of a series and I am very interested to see what happens in the 2nd and 3rd books!
