About the Author
Rachel Wells is a mother, writer and cat lover. She lives in Devon with her family and her pets and believes in the magic of animals. Rachel grew up in Devon but lived in London in her twenties working in marketing and living in a tiny flat with an elderly rescued cat, Albert. After having a child she moved back to Devon and decided to take the plunge and juggle motherhood with writing.
She has always wanted to write and found her voice in her first novel, 'Alfie the Doorstep Cat'. She has always had cats as pets, ever since a young child. Rachel is delighted to have been able to combine her two main passions at last. 'Alfie the Holiday Cat' is her fourth book.

There is 6 textures, 2 are very similar (almost no difference), one is very distinctive, and the other three are just the same just differ in colour.
We have another two books quite old (I think since 2013) and all 6 textures and colours were pretty different so we could tell between smooth, soft, bumpy etc.
These new books (we have purchased two and other two were gifts) are really lacking in delivering the promised sensory satisfaction.
Stay away from The Fairy one and the kitten. Very, very disappointed.
The touchy-feely bits are all rather samey and some of them are the same texture as the actual page itself, i.e. Shiny. I can't see how that will stimulate a baby to look for the area of the page that's different. The fabric/textured panels all seem really small on this book too. They need to be bigger.
There are other ones in the range that are better. 3 stars.
The wording is short enough for our bedtime routine for her not to be bored. We also ask her to point out the other things on the pages, such as flowers, bugs and of course the mouse! Always spot the mouse!!
Good quality, well made books with interesting textures for them to explore and have lasted plenty of knocks and handling!
