Seth is back.

When he walked back into my life, it almost felt like the pieces of my broken heart could be fixed. I thought we could go back to being best friends, but then I started to feel what I had been blocking out for years. I tried. Boy, did I try! But once I started to let him in, I wanted nothing more than to cross that line from friendship into something more…

Just when I think I can move on and let myself be happy, an ugly reminder from my past comes storming in and threatens to destroy the sliver of hope that's been growing since Seth came back.

Do I even deserve to be loved?

“I’m not asking to fix your heart. I’m not asking to mend you. I love each and every shattered piece of you. I’m asking that you let me love you. Let me love each piece of your broken heart, and I swear to you I will make up for every heartache you have ever experienced.”

I came back for Josie.

I knew I'd have to fight for her, but with the loss of her dad and the truth about what happened with her and Blake, I quickly realized that making her mine was going to be a lot harder than I first thought. The problem is, I can’t pretend like she’s just my best friend. I can’t pretend I don’t want more.

I'm willing to do anything to get her to admit she has the same passionate feelings for me, because I know once she opens up and stops lying to herself, I can show her what it really means to be loved. It's a battle of wills, but my love for her is stronger than her will to stop me.

So I fight for her. I fight because I know she deserves it.

HASH(0xa98928c4) out of 5 stars SUCH A GREAT STORY filled with emotions and steam !! 27 March 2015
By amie - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I specifically remember jumping for joy at the end of book 1 , Seth was back and now I can say he has had my heart from the start !! I was so thrilled when he walked in but I knew I had to push it back and forget about it since I had to wait months for this book !! It didn't take more than a minute for me to get back into the story and just swoon over Seth !! I am a sucker for the boy next door , the childhood best friend , the high school sweetheart , second chance love and this relationship with Seth and Josie kind of falls into every one of those categories !! So here we are , Josie has lost a father , Blake & a baby BUT Seth is back to save her again and finally stake his claim for real , or so I HOPE !! Come on Seth get your sh** together !!

This part of the story is all about Seth and Josie's journey back to one another. They both have doubts and fears to get over. They both have feelings and desires they need to share. Most of all they both need to quit being so darn stubborn and just let the feelings flow. There is so much emotion in this book. The struggles Josie has been through are all so real and although she does annoy me at times I feel for her and I connect with that pain having similar struggles. When it comes to Seth it seems he is more ready to put it all out there. He has nothing to hide anymore and quite honestly both families and their friends have always been able to see what these two have denied. It is a little rough with Blake and Seth sharing in some major moments of Brandon and Brooke's lives and of course for Josie and Blake to be near each other. Blake has some serious hate brewing and he seems to be a loose cannon and he made me nervous. He really knows how to wound Josie and despite feeling for his loss I no longer felt any attraction to him because of his nastiness. I am wondering if after this cliffhanger he will have a chance to redeem himself but I honestly won't hold my breath and I don't care because I just want Seth and Josie to have that happy ending , that fairytale story to tell their kids !!

The sex is PHENOMENAL !! Ok so they do it A LOT but I was so fine with that because it was never not HOT and Seth can dirty talk or sweet talk the panties off a nun !! I adore him at all times and I really enjoyed him staking his claim and taking charge !! The stories about his tats OMG hysterical !! The ways he would get under Josie's skin , priceless. The fact that he has these secret relationships with her dads , just so sweet OMG he really is the whole package !! Tattoos , piercings and he knows how to work it !! OMG I am so in love. This is a must read just because of SETH !! Ok so really it is a must read for so many reasons so GO BUY READ NOW !! Cannot wait for more , the heartache has barely been touched upon , the next book may just rip me to shreds.......I am so scared !!

HASH(0xa9892978) out of 5 stars My favorite book of 2014 so far! 25 March 2014

I loved That's a Promise (book 1) but the feelings that I have for That's a Lie are so much more than love!!

This book continues where That's a Promise left off and also includes some flashbacks and more details of things that happened in book one. Please, before you read That's a Lie, read That's a Promise!

Okay so onto the book.

I've never had such love/hate feelings toward a book character as I do with Josie. One second I commend her for finally getting her stuff together and the next, I want to slap her for slipping back into her old ways.

Seth - oh good God do I love Seth. How he falls even more in love with Josie and sticks by her through all of her ups and downs is just amazing. He's there for her no matter what and is always there to help her be the best that she can be. He helps her fight her demons, fight her past, and accept that she can overcome what she's been through.

I loved this book - is there something more than love? Because if there is, that's what I feel about this book. The second that I finished it, I told Victoria that I almost didn't want to read the next book. To me, I'd like to think that this is how it ends. That this happily ever after is it. However, the epilogue tells me that Josie has a lot more to overcome in book 3.

I can't wait to see how she handles it. Will she go back to her old ways of pushing Seth away or will she allow him to help her cope with what is going to be one of the hardest things she's ever going to have to face?

I know I'll be waiting for book 3 on pins and needles - I need to know what happens next!

Thank you Victoria for writing this one the way that you did - it's PERFECT!

If it's not obvious, I give this one 5 stars!

HASH(0xa9892e40) out of 5 stars This story just gets better! 2 June 2014

That's a Lie is book two in the Promises, Promises series by Victoria Klahr. After reading That's a Promise I was in awe of the awesomenesss that is Victoria Khlar. Her debut novel seriously impressed me and I didn't know that she would top it. I thought I loved TAP but I loved TAL even more. I will tell you that from page one of TAP i was TeamBlake. And even after that ending, I was still TeamBlake.

TAL picks up right where TAP left off, and after the whopper of a cliffhanger I was eager to dive in. I kept waiting for Blake to come back and realize that he made a mistake. But during all that waiting, it was Seth who started to take residence in my heart. For that I have to commend Victoria. I am pretty stubborn, and i don't want to say that I completely switched teams, but for the author to make me feel for someone other than "my" team says a lot about her writing ability. I found myself growing more disgusted by Blake's actions and swooning harder for Seth than I thought possible. Don't get me wrong, I am still hanging on to smidge of hope that Blake will resurface and have his HEA with Josie, but by the end of the book I found myself realizing that Seth was really her soulmate.

Josie and Seth have both been through so much. My emotions were all over the place with this book. I hurt for the them and i laughed with them. Again, another testament to the writing ability of Klahr. She has a way with words that makes you feel like you are right there with them. While Josie still grated on my nerves a few times, I was pleasantly surprised with her character development in this book. I think she has come a long way.

Klahr left me with me a smile on my face and a happy heart with the last chapter. I might have even gone back and read it a few more times. Just when I thought my emotions were in check, Klahr slaps us in the face with that epilogue that will leave you craving book 3! I can only hope that Josie, Seth, and even Blake get the HEA that they all deserve. Knowing Victoria, it will be one hell of a ride!

HASH(0xa988da98) out of 5 stars It's never too late to fix the wrong 16 May 2014
By Cassie H. - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition

After losing it all, Can Josie get what she really yearns for? He's back, back to help her, back to fix their friendship and back to hopefully get what is his... his Pussy Cat. But is he too late, and is she to broken to be put back together?

Having Seth back in her life is all she has wanted for the past few years. He was her first love, but before all that, her best friends. She can put everything behind her, as long as he is with her. As long as she has her best friend back in her life.

"I'm scared to let anyone in."- Josie

Seth will do anything for Josie, even waiting for her. He can tell she is broken, that Blake screwed her up. And he will do everything in his power to help her heal.

"So run and hide, Pussy Cat, but I'll keep coming back. I'll always fight for you."- Seth

Truths will be revealed, secrets unearth and feelings finally spoken. They are good together, they are meant for each other, but she keeps pushing him away. She'll let him in, but once again insecurities rise. She's just scared to let anyone in. She has to work through her past. Fight for her future and forgive her self.

Can Seth and Josie finally get what they both want... each other and the relationship they have been secretly wanting for years?

"I will never regret falling in love with you, Josie. How can I regret the best thing I've ever felt?"- Seth

That's A Lie is an up and down book. You never know what is coming with the next page. During That's A Promise, I really loved Josie. She's been through so much and I just wanted to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. In That's A Lie, she has totally become a needy person. She wants Seth, but is constantly pushing him away. She feels like she never deserves to be happy, that Seth will leave her. She has become one of those girls that obsess and is always back and forth. She feels like she deserves all the bad and none of the good in life. Once the good comes, she tries to ruin it in some way. Her back and forth gave me whiplash. She's so insecure, worrisome and it's annoying. This Josie is a totally different one from the previous book we came to know her from and I do understand why, but it totally put me off. Her and Seth, you can feel the love and I was so rooting for them, I wanted her to be happy and I wanted him to get his girl. I'm one for a good sex scene, but I have to admit, this book had so much, and it went on forever. It got tiresome. Sometimes too much is hurtful to a book, in my opinion. And that turned me off a little bit. With that being said, I did enjoy the book. The fact of these two fighting for what they want and not giving up for what they believed in, I loved. I wanted to bitch slap Blake, we see the true guy he really is. UGH! He had us fooled. We get to finally see who Seth is, how he has felt and does feel and what he's been doing while he was away. Questions are answered for us. I really LOVE him! I give That's A Lie 3.5 stars

HASH(0xa9892eb8) out of 5 stars No More Lies 24 April 2014

It doesn't matter if you are #TeamBlake or #TeamSeth you will love this book. You will not want to put it down. Well at times you will want to slap Josie, she is still a pain in the ass. LOL! But her attitude coincides with the lessons of the story. This book is about forgiveness and growth. Being able to turn a bad situation into one you can live with. It's about losing love twice and being able to find it again.

One of my favorite parts...was finding out that even though Seth was out of town working, he was still in contact with Josie's dad. Seth was seeking his advice on how to win Josie back. He had not given up on love with her and it softened my heart for Seth. "I needed to know about you, but I was trying so hard to stop loving you. I couldn't tell you how miserable I was, so I talked to your dad." So what if I may have been crying when I was reading this part. So freaking what!!!

If you haven't guessed by now, I had put on my #TeamSeth shirt. Geez I felt bipolar going back and forth between Seth and Blake. I still loved Blake. I totally felt sorry for him. He was dealt a bad hand and it wasn't his fault. Darn poor Blake. I admit it was harsh but I still thought he had every right to be mad at her. She killed his baby because of who Blake's father is and that wasn't fair to him. And yes I had on my #TeamBlake shirt once again. You have NO right to judge me.

The best scene ever...when Josie and Seth are going through their problems and they decide to make each other jealous, but Seth has had enough of her games. 'He keeps walking, backing me up against the tree with the force of his body, but also with the intensity noticeably discernible in his eyes. Once he has me pinned with nowhere to escape...' Oh you thought I was going to give away the entire scene. Chile boo! It only gets better from here. The way Seth has her pinned against the tree making her beg him to touch her - to love her. Crank up the AC because the room will get hot quick! While waving my #TeamSeth flag.

Victoria had me drinking trying to keep up with who team I was on! LOL! But it was so worth it!
