Product Description

Seth is back.

When he walked back into my life, it almost felt like the pieces of my broken heart could be fixed. I thought we could go back to being best friends, but then I started to feel what I had been blocking out for years. I tried. Boy, did I try! But once I started to let him in, I wanted nothing more than to cross that line from friendship into something more…

Just when I think I can move on and let myself be happy, an ugly reminder from my past comes storming in and threatens to destroy the sliver of hope that's been growing since Seth came back.

Do I even deserve to be loved?

“I’m not asking to fix your heart. I’m not asking to mend you. I love each and every shattered piece of you. I’m asking that you let me love you. Let me love each piece of your broken heart, and I swear to you I will make up for every heartache you have ever experienced.”

I came back for Josie.

I knew I'd have to fight for her, but with the loss of her dad and the truth about what happened with her and Blake, I quickly realized that making her mine was going to be a lot harder than I first thought. The problem is, I can’t pretend like she’s just my best friend. I can’t pretend I don’t want more.

I'm willing to do anything to get her to admit she has the same passionate feelings for me, because I know once she opens up and stops lying to herself, I can show her what it really means to be loved. It's a battle of wills, but my love for her is stronger than her will to stop me.

So I fight for her. I fight because I know she deserves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing heartfelt book! 31 July 2016

I'll start by saying you should read these books in order. In the first book I wasn't the biggest fan of Josie but after reading this one, she has changed my mind. She actually opens up and tells the truth. It isn't a easy road for her though, she still has things she has to work thru. She does find peace and finds forgiveness for all the wrong she did. You do have a little Blake in this book. He isn't the nicest, he's a straight up prick but redeems himself in the end. Josie was able to find her happy ever after. It isn't all wine and roses with her and Seth. They fight like crazy but they make up so so good! Seth is incredible. He's by far my favorite character. He does have a temper but in his defense he is defending his girl. He says he isn't romantic but I'd beg to differ. He loves with his whole heart and shows that everyday. He is a total sweetheart. Josie is a lucky lady for sure! This book has swoon worthy moments along with moments you just want to smack someone. I so enjoyed reading this book, it kept my attention from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down!

3.0 out of 5 stars After losing her best friend, her boyfriend and her daddy all in ... 25 July 2015

After losing her best friend, her boyfriend and her daddy all in one year, Josie manages to pick up the broken pieces of her heart and keep moving. She has to keep herself together and stay strong so her dad won't fall apart. But when Seth returns and professes his love for her, Josie feels unworthy of his love and pushes him away again. This time Seth won't take no for an answer and vows to fight for Josie no matter how hard the battle will be. With Blake still hanging in the shadows, and another secret that will soon be revealed, Seth will have to choose between fight or flight.

This book was a little slow and definitely not as good as the first one. Again, Josie's indecision was annoying. As a plus, Seth is back and there were a lot of steamy scenes between them. I think this series should have ended with this book and although there was another cliffhanger ending, I don't think that I'll move on to book 3.

THAT'S A LIE by Victoria Klahr, what a great read, for me it was so much better than book one.

The story in this book is very well developed and well written, the plot is very fast paced and will keep you hooked till the very last page. The characters in this book grow a little in this book and the right people finally get together, not without any bumps in the road though. The author made it very easy to fell what the characters are feeling when they are going through things, my heart really breaks for Josie when the decisions she made come back to haunt her.

This is the second book in the series and picks up right where book one left off, Seth is back to rescue Josie from her hurt once again. Josie though has walls erected so tall after what Blake has put her through (twice), but Seth has been her best friend since they were six years old, so it doesn't take long for her to let Seth in. It takes a long time but Seth and Josie finally tell the world how they feel about each other, but when Blake shares Josie's secrets with a room full of family and friends it shatters Josie's world again. Will it be too much this time, will Josie ever recover from what Blake did and the decisions she made???

THAT'S A LIE by Victoria Klahr is the second book in the series and I highly recommend that book one be read first, this book will pull at your heart strings and the epilogue will leave you wanting more. I would give THAT'S A LIE 4/5 stars.

Favorite Quotes:

We'll go slowly. Keep coming back to me. Let me show you that you're my other half... Let me prove to you that I can love you the way you deserve.

And please for the love of baby Santa, fix your damn hair and makeup. You look like you've been attacked by bears all night.

I've been yours since I was six years old... I've just been too scared to admit it.

I'll love you forever, Pussycat. I'll love you when I'm dead and gone. I'll love you when through every life I live after this one. I'll love you every second I have left to live, and I won't regret one single moment of loving you. I'll choose you over and over again, because I can't and won't get over this feeling.

My Review:

While not as angsty as the first book in the series, Ms. Klahr's writing for That's a Lie remained emotive, evocative, alluring, and seductive. The story was insightfully penned in my favorite form with a dual POV. Even when I became frustrated with her characters, I was reluctant to put my kindle down. I adore Seth Montgomery! I reveled in the second half of this book, which more than atoned for the uneasiness and irritation I experienced during Josie's self-destructive, vile, and cruel behavior toward Seth during the first half. Josie was heinous toward sweet Seth in her efforts to push him away, and I grew increasingly annoyed with her stubborn and churlish behavior. The storyline finally turned to a more positive and nurturing bond for the two and I couldn't have been more relieved, and then the writing took on a heady and salacious sensuality that had me gasping and my beloved kindle steaming over. Oh my, if the characters in this book were actual people, they would be in a constant state of exhaustion and dehydration.

Trying to keep up with the lies- Josie, finally gets up the nerve for the truth to come out. Though it seems some truths are hiding...

Josie has had a difficult journey. She has been in love. She has rejected love. She has been frightened of love. Will she learn to allow herself to be loved...

With a tragic goodbye, Josie is forced to open her eyes. Her life is not living, she needs to change that.

With all the lies she has told herself, she realizes a little truth will set her free. It has nothing to do with the return of her best friend...right?

That's a Lie is book 2 in the Promises, Promises series. I think it's my favorite because she finally starts being true to herself. Plus she embarks on a relationship that is long overdue...sorry, I tried to be vague but I'm just too excited.

With the final piece of the puzzle in place, you assume it will only get better. But sadly, life isn't always easy or fair.

I really enjoyed seeing Josie grow. I love her final choice. I hope that That's a Relief is everything we wish for them.
