Rachel Wesson has done it to me again! Once more I found myself unable to put her book down from start to finish. Each book in this particular series, for me, gets better and better. There were moments I wanted to laugh and then I would want to cry. Each of the characters have their own story, dream, pain etc. and the reader is able to see a piece of themselves in at least one, if not all, of the characters. I love the way Ms. Wesson brings various cultures into play whether it be black vs white, native vs white, American vs Irish etc. She makes you not only feel the strength or weakness of each person; but, she makes you think about life as it was so many years ago. I personally have never had a problem with native remedies or cultures etc; but, I can imagine, thanks in part to the author, what life was like then vs now, gender vs gender, or culture vs culture. I absolutely LOVED this particular story and admire all the strong characters. I totally enjoyed both the anger and love that radiated between Little Beaver and Asha. This is a definite must read for all age groups and the author is certainly worth following!
I have just finished reading all seven books in this series so far..I loved every one of them. Each story had its own set of problems.. Its own set of obstacles to overcome..its own group of out of the ordinary people. Men. Women and children. Yet all intermingled making this a fantastic series. If I had any complaint to put forth it would be the cost. I do not remember ever spending eighteen dollars on a book before. It did help that the the first one was free but once I got started I could not resist purchasing each of the next books as I finished one. I did feel that spending $2.99 for each was very acceptable. If only i had the patience to wait awhile before ordering each successive one but... Woe is me.. I didn't. Get them and enjoy them.
This book centers on Little Beaver and Asha, a pregnant Indian girl from a rape by a white soldier. It has very little to do with Thanksgiving which was only right at the end of the book! Some Indian customs and life on an Indian reservation are revealed. Little Beaver is a great character so I enjoyed this book about him.
This was a fast reading story with Indians and white settlers learning to get along together. The characters were interesting and likeable.Could use some editing, but was still a good book.
This story has cowboys, Indians, fire, snow love and orphans. What could be better, wait how about love. I will recommend this Author and this series to all my friends and family. Very good from the first chapter. Thank you
