For most of my life, I've used the TI 89 Titanium, and although the CX II is easy to learn, there was a learning curve as the function keys are all moved to the menu button. But to be honest, I don't mind it because it organizes everything into a little menu.
This calculator is easier to operate, especially when it comes to graphing functions. Also, it graphs functions a lot quicker than any other Texas Instrument calculator and looks really good with its multi-colour display. However, I have an issue with its touchpad. While the touchpad is "modern", it is straightforward to accidentally swipe your finger on the pad and select the wrong action. There have been times when I would quickly click on the arrow keys to have the touchpad functionality enabled and cause an incorrect selection. This isn't very pleasant, especially if you plan to use this for hours. I wish there were a way to disable the touchpad.
Although the battery is conveniently rechargeable, if you plan on using this for hours per session, the battery will not last long. I have to recharge the device every day basically, which is much less than the months I got out of my TI 89 Titanium.
So, overall, it's a fantastic calculator. However, be warned that the touchpad irritably exists and the battery life may be too short.
