Product Description

The content of this book is intended for mature audiences.
When it is time for souls to meet, there is nothing on earth that can prevent it from happening. That’s what Emma Finch realizes after her first encounter with Luke Myers. A confirmed bachelor and undercover cop, Luke has made his job his life. Since his first love died tragically in a car accident, Luke hasn’t been seriously interested in anyone … until he meets Emma.
Emma is navigating life after her husband of 24 years dies suddenly. Her days as a middle school guidance counselor are filled with hormonal teenagers, while her nights are interrupted by a dream stuck on repeat. A chance meeting with the mystifying detective at a Memorial Day barbeque leaves Emma staring into the same grey eyes that haunt her slumber night after night. She knows her dream will unlock a mystery, and that it’s somehow tied to the tattooed, pierced law-enforcer.
As Emma and Luke’s beautiful love story develops, Emma’s dreams become more frequent and frightening. She’s completely convinced that the enigmatic couple she dreams about each night shares an undeniable connection to Luke and his current undercover assignment. Emma and Luke’s bond is so powerful, they both wonder if maybe they’ve met before. What they learn is that time has a wonderful way of showing them what really matters, and that the universe works in mysterious ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes it only takes one encounter... 6 June 2014

Let’s face it, romance novels have been overdone and usually are regurgitated story lines with different characters. However, Dillon’s book offers a realistic approach to love. It is not a fantasy where a girl gets swept off her feet; rather it is a story about finding love again. This book is all about second chances and healing oneself. Tethered Through Time has something for everyone; it weaves a tale that is sprinkled with romance, morsels of mystery, and caresses of sensuality. It is a page turner because with every detail, another clue to Emma and Luke’s connection is revealed. The most refreshing thing about this love story is that it is written in both Emma and Luke’s perspective. Fall in love with a story of two ordinary people who share an extraordinary love. I highly recommend this book to hopeless romantics, to thrill seekers, and lastly to those who believe it is never too old to fall in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great love story with a truly interesting plot! 24 May 2014

Finally… characters I understand, with a twist that’s sure to blow your mind. The best part – they are all grown up. They’re out of high school, and they’re out of college. They’re established adults in the real world and they seem like real people. Emma Finch is starting over. Her husband of 24 years has died, her kids are on their own, and she’s learning how to live life completely alone. While busy each day as a middle school guidance counselor, her nights are interrupted by a dream that repeats night after night. Luke Myers, a confirmed bachelor and undercover cop, lost his first love in a tragic car accident years earlier. His life is all about work and catching the bad guys. A chance meeting at a Memorial Day barbeque leaves both Emma and Luke wondering if maybe they’ve met before. The story develops through dialogue and alternating points of view. The author has done a great job developing two voices for two very different characters and has rooted the story in the relationships they have with their families and friends. Both Luke and Emma have great friends that keep them real – although it was a little difficult to keep track of all of them. Here’s what I loved: I appreciated that the main characters were adults – not kids. The pace at which their love story developed was realistic and believable. While I always love a great hero (and Luke Myers is exactly that), I loved Emma’s strength and belief in her convictions. While her character is strong, she shows a great deal of vulnerability as well. She’s the epitome of today’s woman because she does it all. She has a career and family she’s proud of, and is someone I would want as a best friend. While Luke is a tough, a no nonsense cop, it’s nice to see his vulnerable side. I LOVE his relationship with his dad. I’ve never been a fan of a ton of pet names, and that’s one thing that drove me a tad crazy. What impressed me the most about Dillon’s debut novel is the unique plot. I’ve never read anything quite like it. There’s a bonus section at the end that left me with a smile. Overall, a great story with engaging fast-paced dialogue and a unique plot twist that sure to leave you wanting more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Let's call it a 3.5 3 July 2014

I bought this title and read it much sooner than I read many of my Kindle purchases because of the great reviews and the enticing story synopsis. For wackos like me who both love romance and need no convincing that reincarnation is real and that we encounter the same souls through many lifetimes, it was an irresistible offering. But . . . . it wasn't a fantastic read. The writing wasn't bad, but it wasn't the smooth, seamless writing that lets you forget that you're reading individual words, and I found the use of present tense distracting. The dialog was not quite natural, and while it is heartening for an old lady like myself to read about wild passion and beautiful bodies when the protagonists are in their late forties . . . it's a bit less believeable than the whole reincarnated soul mates thing! Similarly, I can't answer for the leisure habits of undercover detectives, but I KNOW most teachers don't have the active social lives (i.e. free time) the teachers in this book did! But all that said, the story was sweet, the main characters, Luke and Emma, are likeable, and there's a nice happily ever after. The secondary characters are likeable as well, and the author writes that she will continue their stories in future volumes. I probably won't look for them myself, but I certainly wouldn't warn anyone away from them. Real reincarnation addicts, however, should look for titles like "Ferney" by James Long - a phenomenal story, albeit a little lacking in the HEA department - if they want a truly unforgetable experience.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drawn out and repetitive 24 October 2015

This book hinted at a past life story line and a current police under cover story line. Both are quickly addressed and wrapped up at the end of the book. The heroine's dream sequence is related over and over and over. Then the two protagonists: OK I get it, they looove each other and they have a hot sex life. But their declarations are way over the top, and fills most of the book. They are both nearly 50 years old but look, behave, dress and have the sex life of twenty somethings. They repeatedly have unprotected sex and do a lot of drinking and driving although he is a police officer. The book was just too mushy, repetitive and boring for me. I doubt I would read a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars You know you want to read this book 17 June 2015

This is the story of Luke and Emma, two extraordinary characters who have an extraordinary connection. As you can probably tell from the title of the book, time is a factor in their relationship. Emma has these dreams about two people from the past that connect her to Luke.

I was blown away by this book. Of course I'm simple and something as complex as time goes over my head. But when someone does it like Dillon did, it makes it easier for everyone else to follow along.

I really loved Emma and I felt her emotions. She felt like my mom and my little sister and my girlfriend- all things that she already is. And Luke... What can I even say about Luke? Amazing? Sexy? Do those words even do him enough justice?

Bottom line, this is a book to add to your book shelf. If I had a hardcopy, I would read it until the pages are torn and the spine is worn. I'm in love with this work of art and can't wait to read Mia and Isaac's story. Now please excuse me while I go read this again.
