Review for Teaching Alec Book 2 of The Last Hangmen M C by Muriel Garcia
This book deals with one mans feelings of inadequacy due to neglect and lack of love given when he was a child by his parents. At a young age he lost the only person he ever cared about so to him it was simple don’t love it hurts but then the world conspires against him to change his mind.

In book 2 we meet Alec and Charline who are the best friends of Ayden and Ant. Charline has been in love with Alec from the first day she saw him, he is attracted to her as well but he doesn’t do relationships. Trouble soon visits in the form of Charline’s ex boyfriend Brian. Why is Brian harassing the couple? What secrets are they all keeping from one another ? Will Charline be able to break down his walls ? Will love truly conquer all? I loved the book and the characters in fact I want to go hang out with them. Muriel Garcia is a wizard at delving into very real and human problems and explains in great depth why the characters are how they are without it being boring. I loved this book 4 ½ stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Forever and always... 23 March 2015
By Rosa Sharon - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Muriel Garcia has an incredible imagination and I'm impressed with the stories that she comes up with. She throws in some twists and turns and keeps the suspense cranked up, especially towards the end. This has been the case with both books so it's not a fluke, it's a talent. However; as with most authors, they need some help to get their masterpieces polished up and ready for their readers. Editing issues can be distracting and pull the reader away from the story so I'm hoping that I'm reading an unedited ARC that will end up more polished before release. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, and the suspense and I look forward to more in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy plot twists! 12 April 2015

Holy plot twists! I started this book right after finishing Saving Ayden the night before, and I read this book in one night too. As an avid reader, I'm a huge fan of stories filled with love, lies, violence, and betrayal - and questionable characters. This series really has all the elements to keep me entertained and on the edge of my seat with some intriguing twists. The story is heartbreaking in its intensity at times, and that's the kind of hurt I adore to experience while reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review 28 March 2015
By Fictional Men's Page For Book Ho's - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I quite enjoyed this and can see an improvement in the authors writing from her debut book, I do believe that once she gets a few habits pressed out that Muriel has the makings of a promising author. I will say that you do really need to read book 1 in the series to be able to fully understand some of book 2, as events from book 1 are just referred to without any back cover which at times does interrupt the flow of the story as you have to stop and recall what is being referred to.

We briefly met Aleck and Charline in book 1 of the series where there was an obvious attraction between them and so in book 2 we get to look deeper into these characters and their relationship or non-relationship.

Aleck has a complicated background and he believes he is incapable of love as a result of bad parenting along with some unfortunate events in his past. As a college dropout he chooses to immerse himself deep in the M/C and club business in order to keep his mind occupied and often as way of keeping his distance from others, including Charline. As such we do get to experience a little more of the M/C lifestyle in this book.

Charline is a good girl from an ideal home with loving parents and after finishing college she returns to her home town to start her career as a teacher, you can almost see her halo shine. Trouble is this is exactly how Aleck sees her, he doesn’t think he and his lifestyle are right for Charline and so continually refuses her advances with his rejections. She is very much on the edge of the M/C as a friend to Ayden the M/C princess and after one too many rejections from Aleck she sets out to find a life away from him and the club. I have to say Charline has way more patience and perseverance than I do, I was urging her to shake Aleck on more than one occasion.

However, these two have secrets that make their paths inevitably cross as much as they try to stay away from each other and soon these secrets are revealed, some quite sweet and some with devastating consequences. As her past catches up with her Aleck is the person Charline reaches out to and every time he faces the inner battle of his feelings for her. But is Charline able to teach Aleck he is worthy of her love?

I have to admit I did find the beginning of this book a little slow and the characters were initially a little juvenile for me which I found hard to connect with but honestly once the twists started coming I was hooked in and enjoyed seeing the characters develop along with the story. Muriel plays the twist and turns in this story well and I really didn’t see them coming. I look forward to more from this series and Muriel and seeing her writing develop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charlene teaches Aleck a thing or two! 23 March 2015
By Author reviewer - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I was given the honor of reading an advanced copy for review of this amazing book by a new very talented author.

In this story we get to learn about Aleck and Charlene whome we met in Saving Ayden. Aleck is mesmorized by Charlene by the first time he sees her in the compound parking lot. She is the most beautiful sight he has ever seen and upon speaking to her learns that she is very shy and finds that very attractive about her. Her age is a very big complication that he is unwilling to compramise on. Through the years Charlene and Aleck become friends and Charlene is holding a big secret that she is madly in love with Aleck. On the day she and Ayden graduate high school they are given a party at the compound and Charlene decides she is going to be brave and tell Aleck how she is feeling about him. Aleck is dumbfounded on her confession, yes he has feelings for her, but she is so long and women only have one use in his life and Charlene is meant for better in her life so he tells her they will never have anything between them. Humiliated Charlen leaves the compound and does not see Aleck for years. One night after coming back to her hometown and getting a job she goes out with the women from her job and runs into Aleck coming out of the ladies room with a woman of the easy veriety. Shocked is an understatement, she thought she was over her feelings for him and is upset that they come rushing back. Aleck cannot believe she is back and is even more upset that their first encounter is her seeing him leaving a restroom with a one night stand.

They again do not see each other for a little while until another chance encounter while she is out at lunch with Ayden and Aleck comes in. As time goes on Charlene keeps on trying to get Aleck to see her as a woman and see her as more than what he is letting on he sees her as. He is determined to fight his feelings for her until he finally offers her one thing, himself in bed but only sexually. Hurt Charlene once again runs humiliated. Then finally temptation gets the best of them and the sexual tension wins over their brains and they cannot help themselves. Aleck is holding secrets, but so is Charlene. The thing is only one of their secrets is out to destroy her and puts her life on the line causing Aleck to question if their relationship should end to protect her. So they do the cat and mouse game of should we shouldn't we until Aleck just can't take it and finally fights for their relationship and Charlene shows him what love is and accepts him for all of him. As they become closer he tells her all of his secrets upon her stumbling upon one he wasn't ready to share. Her acceptance of that one so easily leads him to tell her the rest which she surprises him by standing beside him. He doesn't learn hers until its too late....

This is a phenomenol story of learning to love, accept and trust. This is a book and series I will find myself reading numerous times. 5 stars and a highly recommended read from me!

3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD READ BUT PLEASE READ THE SERIES IN ORDER. 23 March 2015
By Aubrey - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition

First and foremost let me get this out of the way. Teaching Aleck, by Muriel Garcia, is a second book in a series and I felt that it would be most helpful to readers if they read the series in order. So, the first in the series is Saving Ayden. I just think that there were parts of Teaching Aleck, that if read as a standalone, would make the story seem choppy. Ok, enough from me.

Teaching Aleck was a story of an emotionally damaged Aleck and his inability to establish 'real' relationships with the opposite sex. One person in particular was Charline. She was the girl who fell in over her head when she first met Aleck. It was pretty much instant for her. Even though she was a much stronger character in this book than the previous book, I still felt that Charline lacked the tenacity that we see from heroines in romance novels; especially MC novels. The toughness and grit expected from a big bad biker needs his equal in every way. I felt like Charline was way too innocent and way too sweet and way, way too forgiving when it came to Aleck. As many times as he turned her down and embarrassed her efforts for trying to gain his attention she continued to vie for his attention. I don't know about anyone else but that is some serious self-esteem blows if you ask me.

But I digress. This was definitely one of those lessons where you don't know what you had until it's taken away. Aleck and his bad boy protectiveness roar to the forefront and thank goodness cuz I was seriously trying to jump into my kindle to punch him in the face! Lol.

Enjoy the romance and suspense of another edition to the Last Hangman MC series!!

Happy Reading!!
