He absolutely loved it. His face lit up every night when it was time to read more.
The story was lovely. Fast paced and exciting. I also loved that it had a girl as a protagonist as well as dealt with with social issue of disabilities. It's so important for young children to understand that people are different for different reasons and thats perfectly normal and ok.
Absolutely fantastic all round. I might have cried at the end. It's lovely.
Sadly this book doesn’t live up to his others which had my son in stitches.
It’s a difficult read due to all the varying model numbers one of the characters keeps creating and unless my son (who is 11) slows right down, pauses at the plethora of commas in every line; the story just doesn’t make sense and he’s having trouble following it.
Mr Baddiel writes like he’s talking and while that’s all well and good to listen to; it can be difficult to keep up when reading out loud especially for some children.
He needs to remember children can get bored very easily if they can’t follow the story and every word is a number or every sentence is too much of a mouthful.
His school had started clas reading this latest book but look down had meant all that stopped and my son was so keen to carry on reading the story so we brought him his own copy, it arrived and was read cover to cover with in 4 days.
If David Baddiel is not you type of comedian don't let that put you off as his story writing ability out ways his comedic talents (Sorry David).
Get you kids into this guys books you won't be sorry.
