Product description

Product Description

Darrell is a weapons geek.

Guns, knives, nunchakus, throwing stars, he’s deadly with all of them.

While all seems set for him to pass his upcoming boot camp armory exam, life quickly becomes complicated when curvy, outspoken Julia invades his personal space.

If she doesn’t pass the weapons test, she’ll be sent home and forced into an arranged mating.

That will happen over his dead body.

He has three days to teach her, but she can’t hit the side of a barn in broad daylight with a laser guided missile.

To make matters worse, her intended mate makes an unannounced visit. He’s rich and suave. Everything Darrell isn’t.

Pity Darrell is determined to get in the way of his plans.

I have to admit I was a little leary to read this book at first, I mean really a
Paranormal Boot Camp!!! I sure am glad I did, this book was phenomenal. It was like I was there doing drills. I do recommend reading Vanguard Elite Book #1, though you can read book #2 as a stand alone, you get all the characters and reasoning for Boot Camp with a lot information you don't realize when reading until the next book says something than you go, oh yah!! Going to Boot Camp to be drilled by Pallus who is a Vampire, boy is he a drill Sergeant of course his rules are stricked.
Julia pack was from the old ways, forcing her into positions that she didn't want. Seeing a letter for Boot Camp was ideal for her to escape too.
Darrell was a geek when it came to weaponry, yes that was his forte. Darrell wanted to be good in everything so he could take care of the Pack since Ian and Clare were the Alpha's. He saw what he wanted and she was beautiful. .. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I received an ARC of 'A Taste of Shifter Geekdom' from Annie Nicholas, in exchange for an honest review.

There was just something about the description for this book/series that drew me in, it could have been 1 of many things... Vampires, shifters, the millitary aspect?? maybe all of them. So I jumped at the chance to read this, even though I hadn't read the first book in the series, I hope to change that soon. 'A Taste of Shifter Geekdom' is book 2 in Annie's "Vanguard Elite" series, although you can read this book as a stand-alone, I highly suggest you read this series in order.

Darrell is a weapons geek who comes a very poor pack, he's using his time at the bootcamp to broaden his chances of changing his & his packs lives for the better. Julia ran to the bootcamp, escaping her pack, father & alpha. Excelling in everything at the bootcamp except target practice Julia finds herself asking Darrell for help...

LOVED this so bad, life at the bootcamp for misfits isn't easy as you quickly learn, but somehow the shifters within find themselves in the type of family, pack they don't have in their own. I enjoyed the action, tension, kinship, steamy scenes... everything just came together, especially when Pallus was on the scene. I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

Love these stories. These books kept me interested all the way through, and I love the concept and all the characters so far- but I read books 1+2 between lunch and supper with multiple breaks. The name of this book is a little misleading- the only thing Darrell's a 'geek' for, is guns. He doesn't walk around with glasses, reading all the time, and using big words and concepts at all, but ask him about any gun and he can give you class, history, specs. and probably has a magazine about it. He can also handle, and shoot, just about any gun expertly. He grew up rough and poor. And he's not really recognized for his expertise either, so far. Maybe in the future books. Julia grew up rich, bossed around, but ignored, and just wants out of her pack. After a little hick-up with her 'family-arranged' fiancé- Allister- Darrell and Julia end up together- OF COURSE. These books end rather abruptly with HFN endings, which accounts for the 4 stars. But I hope the next two go on sale soon so I can find out what happens to the other characters. I also hope there will be one about their vampire mentor and trainer- Pallas- and a lot more of his backstory, and how he more or less, picked these particular wolves, (which was a real mystery). He sounds very interesting. If you're looking for a lot of romance and/or sex- these aren't the books for you. There's one scene in each book. These are more about the lead-up to some monumental happening, but the characters do seem to be pairing up. They're all still talking about going back to their respective packs after this training, which I really don't see happening. Like I said- I want to see where this is all leading. You do really need to read these in order and now I think about it- even though each book basically has an ending they really are cliffhangers. If that's not for you- well.....
I definitely recommend this series. More please.

I was gifted this ARC in exchanged for an honest review. Geekalicious.

Julia is a werewolf from a rich culture where money and power is the norm and the lives of the young are used as monopoly pieces to gain more power. What's a girl to do but run away. However running away to a boot camp is the craziest idea yet. Especially when she can't shoot to save her life.

Darrell is the alpha of a small and poor pack. He was born with weapons in his hand as this was their only way of survival. He is now in bootcamp to get official training to help his pack.

When these two meet, the attraction is strong but there is one little problem. Sorry, make that two or maybe three problems. One - she's rich and he's poor; two - she's about to get thrown out of bootcamp; three - she's engaged, and oh yeah! She doesn't believe in fated mates.

What will Darrell do against such odds? Why fight of course, and he's really good at it.

Totally enjoyed this book. Had me in stitches from start to finish. Anyone who reads this book will thoroughly enjoy it. Great short series Annie.

An Adult Paranormal Romance
Liked it. But there were some areas that tended to lag.
A fun and entertaining read. There is suspense and romance and some tense moments. The characters are a lot of fun.
Very interesting.

A Taste of Shifter Geekdom: Shifter Romance (Vanguard Elite Book 2). In this book you add Darrel and Julie to the camp. At boot camp any failure sends you home. You have whose pack is extremely poor and who is trying to better skills to enable him to make a decent living and Julie who is from an affluent pack, and she was to enter into an arranged mating with a uncaring jerk so she ran away. Darrell is strong in most aspects except for swimming which is a weakness of most of the wolves. Ironically Julie grew up around water so swimming is her strong suit but, Julie couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in target shooting. Juile helps Darrell with his swimming and Darrell offers to help her with target shooting. There is the physical challenge of the boot camp itself but, it comes with the continued threat of being sent home. Then one day Julie's supposed fiance' shows up. If you want to know more you will need to read the book. I truly loved this book and can't wait until the next one comes out.

This is again a five star book with three star editing. Please, start having your books edited. It's pretty irritating to have words missing etc. I like that these shifters that their packs pretty much threw away (most of them anyway) are learning to come together as a pack with skills. I like seeing the friendships coming together and them learning to utilize each other's strengths. Again, please start editing.
