A Taste of Eden is a contemporary romance by Scarlet Le Clair.
Elman Espana is one of New York City’s premier event planners. He’s incredibly charismatic, very confident, a confirmed bachelor and ladies’ man. He grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, his childhood experiences became the catalyst that made him better himself, to make something of his life and climb his way to the top. Now that he has achieved that, he has a real sense of accomplishment and pride in what he’s achieved.
Always one to network and find the best services to offer his clientele, he has high standards and expectations and prides himself on delivering the best quality in every function he is hired for. At a party one night he meets a caterer who produces the most amazing and mouth-watering delicacies. He is really captivated by her and can’t stop thinking about her. She and her catering company would be fantastic to get on board for his business, but Elman also wanted to get to know the caterer on a more personal level. When he discovers she’s married he is extremely disappointed.
Riley Summers is passionate about food and cooking. She and her best friend Kat opened their own catering company and are making a name for themselves in the catering circles. When Riley meets Elman, she is really excited for the business opportunity that he offers her. She can’t wait to get creative and come up with some new and creative menu ideas. She also notices the spark and zinging chemistry between them. But she’s married and knows that this can’t lead anywhere.
Add an abusive, jealous husband to this mix, and the story gets quite intriguing. I did feel for Riley and was cheering her on from the sidelines. I didn’t like Elman, I did try, but he was just so arrogant and full of himself that I couldn’t connect with him, and this made connecting to the story quite difficult as well.
I thought the storyline was enjoyable and had a great deal of promise, but just needed a little tweaking to be able to reach its full potential. Things that could be improved upon were- the story was a little slow to get going. Some parts were a little disjointed. There was a lot of repeated information, for example; “It was my best friend Luis, we had been best friends since high school, both of us having nothing, and working our way up to being someone…” then one page later the exact same information was given, word for word. The author spends a lot of time going into detail, giving information that doesn’t lead anywhere, I found this distracted from the actual storyline. Some of the dialogue, especially in the first part of the book, felt a little stilted- but this did improve a bit as the story progressed.
I would read more of Ms. Le Clair’s work again, as I think the issues with this book could be remedied in future releases.

I gave this a 5+ rating as the following was on point ....
-Story flowed well and didn't jump around
-there was just enough drama in all the right places
-it had ups and it had heart gripping downs

I loved the story of elman an Riley and there friendships with others the calm before the storm was well done an the drama hit hard but the love for elman and Riley really shone out.

Thank you scarlet for such a great book I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a mystery as a back story as it keeps u guessing

The story A Taste of Eden by Scarlet Le Clair is a wonderful book that I enjoyed reading. It is the first book that I have read by the author and found that she has created a story that had me hooked from the beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. The characters that she has created come alive and I found myself wanting them to find a way to a happy ending. I love the character of Elman Espana. Elman is a man that has come a long way in life to make himself the successful business man that he is today. He takes pride in his accomplishments. He also would be what some would call a player. He knows how to flatter women and has no strings hookups. Now that he has met Riley he finds himself wanting a relationship with her. I also love the character of Riley. She is a successful businesswoman who is smart and beautiful. She feels an attraction to Elman. This is a story about their instant attraction and shows the ups and down that these two go through. The chemistry between Elman and Riley is undeniable. Elman wants to use Riley’s catering business for the events that he plans and uses this as a reason to see her. Their feelings only deepen for each other. There is one barrier that stands between them and their acting on their feelings for each other. Then one night an ugly truth comes to light, one that causes Riley to face making a decision about her future. Will this decision be the beginning of an opportunity for both her and Elman to explore their deepening feelings for each other? Read this book to find out what the future holds for both Elman and Riley. I can’t wait to read more of the author’s stories! This book does have mature subject matter which includes adult language and adult situations. It would be recommended for readers 18 years of age or older.

I read A Taste of Eden by Scarlet Le Clair. I rate this book 5 stars. It's about a guy Elmon and a girl Riley. Elmon is a guy that has a hard time with commitment. That is until he meets Riley. Riley brings out things in Elmon that isn't normally what he's like. He is used to playing the field and not not being in a relationship with someone. Riley is a very sweet girl who has a heart of baking. She works in a cafe that does catering to party. That is how Elmon and Riley met. When they met they had instant sparks. I thought this book was really good. It gave me a good balance between romance and suspense. I loved how every time Elmon went to a party he hosted and she catered, he would always get a treat that she made just for him. I imagined eating every single one of those treats she made for him. This was a really good book!!
