5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating adventure into dragons and mages 23 April 2017
By DLarios - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I was slow to becoming engrossed in this dragon/mage/human world tucked away in the mountains. Anwen aka Anna is drawn to this region after her father's murder. It is after all where her ancestors were from. But once she reached the little town, strange events start happening. Let's just say that Anwen has no idea yet what and who she really is... Fascinating story. My favorite of the cast of characters is Tyler, the hero to Anwen's heroine. Courtney is at first frivolous and jealous but soon becomes bff's with Anwen. Oh and be sure to purchase book 2 right now while you are buying book 1.

I received this book from Triple A blog in exchange for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is going to be a great YA series. 23 April 2016
By The Review Lady - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I was given a copy for an honest review.

I would have given this book 5 stars except it seemed to stop in the middle of the story. There is an end-of-season type cliffhanger instead of a first-book-in-a-series type ending. Besides that little problem it is a delightful, exciting read. We follow Anwen as she travels to the village that her many times great-grandfather was banished from. Her father's last wish before he died was that she would receive his pendant necklace and wedding ring on her 16th birthday and return to their family's homeland.

On the last leg of her journey she meets a young man named Tyler. She slips and tells him her real name. He makes himself available to show her the sights around the village. As they travel to the ruins of the old city, their traveling companions are not all benign. One of the village girls is very interested in Tyler and doesn't mind if Anwen is jeopardized along the way.

Anwen has no idea who she can trust or even what is really going on. Is Tyler a friend or does he have his own agenda as it seems? Why must she hide her identity? And why is it that everything seems to trigger her phobias and fears? As Anwen comes closer to discovering her family's legacy, she must also discover her own strengths and weaknesses.

The dragons are awakening and Anwen must be ready soon.
5.0 out of 5 stars This book caught my attention from the beginning 4 December 2016

This book caught my attention from the beginning and held it fast for the entire book. When reading books I can often walk away briefly to take care of things and then return 5-10 minutes later to continue reading, but I could not with this book. I just took it with me everywhere trying to do everything while still reading it cause I didn't want to stop or miss anything. The characters were well rounded and seeing their transformations throughout the story was believable and also very gratifying. Plus, it was funny, had moments that made your heart race with concern, and kept you entirely invested in the journey. The story was continually moving, no dead areas or places that lost my attention, and it was a unique and fun idea. I'm dying to read the next book now that I've finished this one and I have no doubt I will read this one again and recommend it to anyone who enjoy fantasy or magical realism.
I read this book by ARC on a voluntary basis

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 23 April 2016
By The Naughty Librarian - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
OK, Ive said this before, guess I have to again. 4.5 stars from me on this one only because its stops right in the middle of a scene. I dont normally mind cliffhangers, but cliffhangers that end in the middle of something is not ok with me.
Aside from that LOVED the book. Wonderful writing style. Really enjoyed the characters. (The jury is still out on Tyler for now) Karlie Lucas does a delightful job of bringing this books world and story to life. What a wonderful way to spend my time.
Anwen is a really great heroine, a little young but still well done. She seems older than her years luckily. No whining and fussing. No nonsense. She is an intelligent, strong independent young lady on a mission.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting world, tons of suspense 17 September 2016

The best part about Tarragon: Key Keeper is the world-building. The terrain is fascinating, the magic feels consistent with the world, and the dichotomy between a modern culture and ancient dragons adds interest. Tyler is a beautifully enigmatic love interest, and he keeps the reader guessing. Uncertainty about loyalties throughout the book adds to the tension. But just as we're starting to get some answers about Anwen's destiny and abilities, about who her true friends are, the book ends! Clearly plenty is planned for book number 2. This one kept me up late, so I can't wait for the next installment!
