I've been reading about the adventures of librarian Kathleen in small-town Minnesota since the first book in the series. If you've been hooked, too, I can save you some time: Go right on and order this book. You won't be sorry.
Oh, you want a little more detail? Okay then. In this story -- the ninth in the series -- Kathleen is called upon to help a young woman who works at her library. Mia's grandfather has come to visit -- and so has her grandfather's twin brother, from whom grandpa has been estranged since Mia's father was a baby. When one of them is found murdered... well, you know how it goes. Kathleen is sure that the guy-without-alibi is innocent, and sets out to set things right.
All of which is your basic cozy mystery set-up, but what makes this a sweet, fun, light read are all the regular characters, from Kathleen's detective boyfriend to her best friends' wedding derring-do to, most especially, her two well-drawn cats. NATURALLY they bring their just-slightly-magical powers to help in sleuthing, while still acting like any normal self-respecting cat (by which I mean, knowing when it's time for the treats to come out).
This isn't an important book that will make you think deep thoughts. In fact, that's its charm. A Tale of Two Kitties is cotton candy for the brain, and geez don't we all need that sometimes? Good for a beach read or plane flight. It's also good for procrastinating when you have important deadlines... uh, a friend told me that.
(Start with the first book, Curiosity Thrilled the Cat. You'd be lost if you began here.)
