Product Description

Possessed by a need to save a beautiful Amazon warrior from the vision he witnessed, Loke snatched her from the midst of the battle between the Third and Fifth realm of the demons, and carried her to his home deep in the black mountains of Hell to protect her. But as the fierce little female awakens, he finds she’s anything but grateful, and his dragon instincts roar to life to warn she might be more to him than an enemy—she might be his fated female.

Anais remembers meeting a handsome warrior in the heat of battle, a man who was her enemy but who looked at her with eyes that held dark heat and wicked promises. When she wakes to find that same dragon shifter has taken her captive, desire is the last thing on her mind, but escaping him to return to Archangel, the hunter organisation she works for, sounds less than appealing when he reveals the reason he took her—to stop her from dying.

Can Loke protect Anais from the dangers of his realm and how far will he go to save her from the future he keeps witnessing? Can Anais resist the fierce attraction that burns between them as hot as fire and stay true to Archangel or will her heart be taken by the dragon?

: 4.25 stars--TAKEN BY A DRAGON is the seventh instlallment in Felicity Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES paranormal romance, fantasy series focusing on shifters, demons, fae, elves, vampires and more. This is dragon shifter Loke, and Anais’s storyline. Anais is a hunter who works for Archangel Industry-a group that studies the supernatural powers and paranormal activity. TAKEN BY A DRAGON can be read as a stand alone although many of the previous storyline characters are beginning to cross over between the novels, along with hints at future matings and relationships.

Told from alternating third person points of view, the focus of the storyline is two fold: The opening finds Anais on the battlefield in the Third Realm of Hell when she is unglamorously abducted and held against her will by a dragon who claims that he has seen the future. Loke felt compelled to save Anais the minute a vision of her death clouded his mind. Anais is unsure as to how to handle the news and attempts to escape only to find herself the prisoner of another dragon who is more than willing to take what he wants-and what he wants will surely end Anais’s life.

Secondly, Anais knows that the people from Archangel Industry will be on the hunt for their missing female and Anais is more than willing to let the people in charge do what they do best. It is only when she and Loke return to the human realm does she realize the gross error in judgment about the people with whom she works.

The relationship between Anais and Loke begins combatively and reluctantly although their attraction to one another is immediate and intense; Loke believes he has found his fated mate but humans rarely survive a mating the a supernatural species and with this comes fear, desire and longing.

Possessed by a fierce need to protect a beautiful Amazon warrior, Loke kidnaps Anais but he’ll have to decide how far he will go to protect her in this spellbinding paranormal romance. I have to say that Loke and Anais’ story may have just became my favorite (so far), I love them all but there was just something about Loke that really struck a chord with me – maybe it was the contrast between vulnerable but fierce- I don’t know but there was no way I could put this book down once I started reading it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Felt like two separate authors 13 March 2015
By Vee Texas Kindle Reader - Published on Amazon.com

I was truly enjoying Loke and his little Amazon. Other reviewers have mentioned Loke's sweetness and sensitivity quite adequately. I mean a truly hot, noble dragon. The little Amazon was believable too. Until chapter 17.
***spoiler alert***
After standing up to the dragon king and an entire village of dragons bent on rape and/or murder and watching Loke nearly die fighting to win her, our little Amazon turned into a mute statue when her commander authorizes a demon to beat the crap out of her love then imprison him. Not a single word? Really? I know the author needed a way to set up the next books, but come on. Not even a whimper? Not even when she saw him in the cell knowing what was planned for him? There had to be a better way to introduce a dazzling array of new characters other than such an extreme left turn. It just felt like another author stepped in without reading the first half of the book. Sorry, I just can't get passed that one. Maybe I'll come back and finish it another time but for now...I feel just as angry and betrayed as Loke.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra 100 pages make a huge difference 10 March 2015
By RabidReads - Published on Amazon.com

Felicity Heaton's out-of-the-box approach to shifters never ceases to amaze, and dragons, the most recent addition to the ETERNAL MATES series, were indeed the stuff made of legends. I loved how the author molded accepted characteristics into supernatural marvels, and the plot was so full bodied that I couldn't even haphazard a guess as to the direction the future installments will take. I'm crossing my fingers for Bleu, but Taryn, Harbin, Emelia, Hartt, Fuery & Ren are all vying for my attention as well, ergo my darling Elf may just have to continue with his walk-on stints for a little while longer.

I've only read one set of novels that featured dragon shifters, and it was Young Adult, so I was looking forward to seeing what Paranormal Romance would have to offer as far as this fabled beast was concerned. I felt like a kid in a candy store with all of the new lore that Heaton infused this universe with. The breathing fire was a given, but the heat and healing aspects were not, nor were the prophetic visions, limitations on travelling between the realms because of witch-y interference, and the treasure hoarding amused me to no end. This book was an absolute riot from the opening chapter!

Loke was a magnificent character; I enjoyed everything about him. He's lived such a simple life, and has for the most part cut himself off from dragon society because after six thousand years of existence, he's grown tired of their frivolous ways. He saved one of his enemies from the battlefield after predicting her death which was an odd move, but it also played on every woman's fantasy. *fans self* Anais' unshakable faith in Archangel, questionable survival instincts, and overall naiveté had me second guessing her decisions; however she didn't make the same mistake twice, so no harm no foul.

This installment had an abundance of action and romance which served as a reminder that even though I liked the previous two novellas, those extra one hundred pages make a huge difference. I thought that the author solved the dragon mortal realm banishment and mating predicaments adeptly, and the latter even lead to some light bondage which I'm never opposed to, especially when it's the male who's getting tied up. Loren, Thorne, Kyter, Cavanaugh & Bleu (have to save the best for last!) admirers will be contended with book 7 because they all turn up, although you might feel conflicted after meeting Loke.

TAKEN BY A DRAGON is a double entendre kind of title which means that Anais was a very lucky girl! ~4.5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 7 December 2016

Masterfully written, Ms. Heaton once again adds other unique world of paranormal fiction. A human fighting in the Hell Realm is abducted while in battle. The male who has taken her is trying to save her from the vision he had of her death.
With twists and turns, the story flows, like a movie playing in front of my eyes. This is a new for me series although I had read her Club series. It does not disappoint.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed with main character at all. 27 May 2016

Okay, I'm sorry *****SPOILER ALERT******

So, I've read all the books leading up to this one. Obviously I like the series, but what the bloody hell. As stated in another review before mine, it is like a total 180 with Anais. She is supposed to be this tough-ass fighter and then BAM in the middle of the book after all the crap Loke has done for her she betrays the crap out of him. She DOES NOTHING. She literally lets a demon beat him the hell up and let her commander put him in lock-up for torture. She is all like "OMG I can't believe I believed them." During this time she is trying to make herself feel better by saying that she "knew" how her organization Archangel tortures supernatural beings. Girl, I do not know how you can stand there and justify this. At this point I'm really disgusted by her. I was almost giving this two stars. The heroine is no heroine. I feel so bad for Loke, he has literally almost died for her and she is like "Let me stand here and let them kill or torture him," boo hoo hoo poor me *waddle runs away. I feel like I can't continue because it is like a completely different character has invaded Anais's body and mind. It doesn't even make sense to me. She is supposed to be this protective individual of her family yet she waylay's the guy she loves? WTH. Okay, I'm done ranting. Plus, come on….this book is at 50% and there is more sexytime then there are dialogue or description of the stakeouts they did. I feel like this book was a jigsaw shoved together. Just saying.

I did not like how some of the females were captured in a previous battle by dragons who in the previous battle had been described as treasuring females to only find out in this book that they don't. The women were caught as spoils of war and will/are being raped. This ruined most of the book for me.
