The main parts of the story are good. I'm not at all sure that the "punishments" were entirely necessary. I'm not a fan of BDSM at all, maybe a hint here and there to add credence to the story and romance, but just seemed to me pain for pain's sake. It just made me so angry that they seemed to enjoy her pain! I hate that. Sabine obviously did not want to be committed to them, after all she was their captive, not a guest, she did not choose them of her own free will. They should have understood this earlier in the story and been more patient and clear as to her purpose in their lives. On the whole I enjoyed it and would read the rest of the series, hopefully these teething problems will have rectified themselves by the 2nd book?

I am so glad I found this series. I absolutely love each book and this one was even better than the last. I loved how feisty the heroine was. Plenty of heat and a surprisingly sweet love story to match.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 12 April 2017
By Annie K - Published on Amazon.com

Loved Sabine, Maddox and Ragnvald's story. Sabine is almost the exact opposite of her older sister Brenna. A healer with a sharp tongue and strong will. Kidnapped by Maddax in an effort to heal Ragnvald and save the pack.
Sabine wars with her healer's heart and her earth witch nature. Her attraction is strong to Maddox and Ragnvald. Her need for freedom and to choose her own path, is stronger, so strong she abandons her younger sister to the pack to get it. Maddax and Ragnvald have to work to get her back and agree to her terms.
Forced submission and corporeal punishment.
Looking forward to Muriel, Wulfgar, and Fergus's story.

A Berserker Birth
A free Bonus short story available through Lee's news letter ~ best read after Taken by the Berserkers
Brenna, Samuel and Daegan and the birth of their first child. Sabine, Muriel and Fluer come to aid in the birth. Sabine's mates, Raynvald and Maddax, are tasked with distracting Samuel, who fears losing his mate and child to the birth. While Daegan is tasked with boiling water and finding the perfect pelt to wrap the new born in. Yesult even comes unbidden to the mountain to lend support and aid if needed. A sweet story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 3 February 2017

This was a short quick dark menage read that I liked. Sabine is a very strong willed woman. She take care of her sisters and everything else now that her sister and stepfather are missing and her mother is dead. She Love to be independent and live her own life. But little does she know she is a witch called a Spaewives. she is part of the Earth. She does know however that she is a good healer with herbs. The Berserkers came in the night and took her in the night to help the Alpha of his pack Ragnvald. This was a really good book however I didn't realize that this is a series and that this is book 3 in the series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am going to go back and read the first two books in this series before I continue to read the rest of the books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book. ADULT CONTENT/THEMES. If you don't like such books, don't buy & leave a poor review. This isn't fair to the author! 12 April 2017
By Pam. Stanton - Published on Amazon.com

Taken by the Berserkers is the fourth book in The Berserkers series by Lee Savino. It's the story of Sabine, sister of Brenna (the heroine of the first three Berserker books). Sabine is now the head of her family as Brenna has disappeared and is presumed dead, her stepfather was torn apart by wolves and her mother died after becoming an alcoholic. She has two young twin sisters to think about, Muriel and Fleur. She must focus on providing for her family if they are to survive.

But Sabine has a secret. She has power that waxes and wanes with the moon, a power she doesn't understand but which makes her a healer, a very good healer. This power comes with a downside, something else she doesn't understand, powerful sexual urges that she can't seem to control or satisfy. The village men have become tiresome to her. They think her a slut and whore because she will not marry. The village priest has become wary of her healing and other powers which eclipse his own. He is a dangerous man. Sabine has to walk a tightrope that becomes more difficult by the day.

One night, after returning from the market, she heads for the grove. It is the time of the moon when she needs to go to the forest, to the grove where the spring flows and she bathes in the water to cool her heated blood. While rising from the water, she hears sounds. A wolf stands nearby, quietly watching her as she leaves the water. She slowly moves to leave the grove when suddenly she is attacked and kidnapped. Just before she loses consciousness, she hears her kidnapper call her by name...Sabine.

Sabine awakens to find she has been kidnapped by a werewolf. But this is not just any werewolf. It is Maddox, the Berserker wolf from the second Berserker pack living on the island. He is the one who knew of Sabine's sister, Brenna. He also knows of Sabine and of her special powers. But Sabine, as frightened as she is, remains defiant and demands to be freed. Maddox, arrogant and powerful, refuses. He tells Sabine that "they" need her healing powers and she will help "them." Not knowing who "they" are and being at least temporarily unable to escape, she agrees to help while planning to escape at her first opportunity.

Sabine soon finds out who the "they" Maddox refers to is. Ragnvald is the alpha of the Berserker pack and he is at the end of his control. If he does not find a way to calm the beast within, created by the same tainted magic as that which created Brenna's wolves, Samuel and Deagan, he, Maddox, and his entire pack will lose control and destroy anyone and everyone. Sabine remains captive to Maddox and Ragnvald and slowly comes to care for them. Her healing powers help. Control is within reach. But there are complications, many complications, not the least of which is Sabine herself. She still refuses to accept that she needs or wants a man in her life. Then there are the pack rules and hierarchy. So much to learn and so little time to learn it. Is Sabine even willing to give this a chance or will she gain their trust, run and leave them to destroy everyone around them? And what of her sisters, Muriel and Fleur? What has happened to them since her kidnapping? And her sister, Brenna? Does she, as Sabine suspects, still live and, if so, what has become of her? What will happen to Sabine and her Berserkers? Do they have a chance? Can she heal them and does she really want to? There are so many questions and so few answers.

This was an excellent book and I highly recommend it. Once again, Lee Savino has woven an intriguing tale set in ancient times with many unexpected twists and turns that will keep you totally engaged in the story. I certainly didn't want to stop reading until I finished the book as I was so caught up in the story and the endless possibilities of the final outcome.

One more note before I close. This is an ADULT book. It contains very adult themes and sexually explicit scenes. If you do not enjoy erotic romance with explicit sexual scenes then this is NOT the book for you. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AND/OR REVIEW THIS BOOK IF YOU DON'T ENJOY THIS GENRE AS IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! But if you do enjoy spicy, erotic romance, Ms. Savino's entire Berserker series is definitely one I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes the path chooses you. 4 March 2017

I love Ragnvald and Maddox. They are so strong and loving. The way they are with Sabine is so telling of their love, honour and protective nature.
Sabine is a strong willed beauty. She doesn't want to love or be loved, she just wants to walk the path she chooses not a path chosen for her.
Her mouth and strong will get her into a lot of trouble, and when just she takes her punishment. When she asks and is given permission to return to her home, she finds she is not happy, she needs the love of Ragnvald and Maddox.
The process of her coming to terms with her new life is amazing to read. This series is fantastic and I can not wait to see what happens with the twins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feisty sister! 11 April 2017
By Book Lovin' Momma - Published on Amazon.com

Sabine is Brenna's younger sister. She is much feistier than Brenna, and I loved reading her story to see how Ragnvald and Maddox tamed her as her dominating alphas. They are strong and loving, and very protective of Sabine. But Sabine is strong-willed and not ready to love her Berserkers. She has an affinity for getting herself into trouble, and it was great seeing how she adjusted to her new home and new life, as well as handling her punishments. I loved Ragnvald and Maddox, they were perfect for her. This book was a standalone, but it fits right into the Berserker stories.
