Product Description

What do you do when your boyfriend of five years is sleeping with your best friend and you’re in a dead-end job, breaking your back for mere pennies? I’ll tell you what I did. I did the one thing I’ve been dreading for the last thirteen years, I finally went home. I needed to get back on my feet and I needed my Grams. As much as I wanted to pretend life was working for me, it wasn’t.

The problem with home though is that everywhere I turn, her ghosts were haunting me.
Crazy, crazy, crazy, just like her, just like my momma.
I wanted to pretend that crazy didn't exist, but it was all around me, trying to do its best to pull me under.

There’s one problem with that, Keenan Rys. He’s determined not to let it. And I’m determined to keep him away.

Tainted by Crazy by Abby McCarthy is her brand new book that is partially inspired by true events. A sweet romance that focuses on Maple and her journey back home after yet another disastrous failed relationship in her life. She ends up in her Gram's old house that she grew up in while Grams is cavorting in her condo at the senior assisted living facility.

After just having had a relationship fail she is not ready to jump into another but when kennen Rys shows up at her old Lake haunt, fate has other plans for Maple.

This is one of the few and rare books that I wish I could rate at 6 stars.

This book was AMAZING!!! I was enthralled and amazed and completely devoured every page, every word. There are some authors whose writing styles just absolutely mesh with your own reading style and Abby is one of these authors for me. The way each word is placed on the page paints a picture of what she wants you to see and to feel. I LOVED THIS BOOK and I'm pretty sure you will love it too.

While it definitely falls into the romance category it is so much more - it is a story of healing and letting your demons go. Coming to terms with life when it is throwing apples at you, and turning those apples into apple pie, or fritters, or apple butter (read the book, then you'll get it). Maple's story is beautiful and I hope that somewhere down the road (soon) that maybe the secondary characters in this book start speaking to the author and demanding their own story. I'd love to know more about them.

You're not crazy reading this but mental illness can be referred to as crazy. While this is the underlying theme of the story it is about Maple & the people in her life. After escaping a cheating ex, while dishing out her feelings & being arrested, Maple returns home to her Gram. But things aren't as what they seem.

Rys is the nephew of a longtime family friend helping him out. There's that instant connection between the H & h but it takes awhile for it to develop. Rys is understanding & caring, much like Maple, who has that little fire inside her. Grams, her friends & all the characters are likeable. There is some sadness but it paves the way for Maples future.

I would totally recommend this book. The cover is amazing!

The editing could be better (not that it was too distracting or affected the flow of the story), but it's a mighty fine book. I just loved it. Couldn't put it down!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy, sad, and sweet. 27 June 2016
By Julie Deaton - Published on Amazon.com

This book is a cute and quick read, but also very emotional. Maple has had her heart broken by her long-time boyfriend, but it wasn't the first time.

Moving back home to where her Grams lives, I loved seeing the small town country feel that this book had. Though, poor Maple had been through a lot. Her mom caused so much heartache in her life, but I loved that her Grams always picked her right back up. Grams was an amazing lady that everyone needs in their life. Poor Maple was dealing with so much and the last thing she wanted was a man.

But, Keenan Rhys is not just any man. He's hot, sexy, and such a sweetheart. He fell for Maple at first sight and stood by her side through everything. Even though his crazy ex tried to break them, their bond became stronger than ever.

When Maple's life is thrown another curve ball, he knew when to give her space but not give her up. He was her rock and I loved him for that. This story is sweet, but yet happy and sad and I enjoyed it from front to back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story..... we are all tainted by a little bit of crazy.... 11 July 2016

In a way, we are all tainted by at least a little bit of crazy, but to be able to share that crazy with everyone and to do it so beautifully.... that takes bravery and some serious talent.
In Tainted by Crazy, Abby McCarthy shares with us a little bit of her world. It was touching and beautiful and real. We can all relate to it in some small way or another.
For an author to put a part of herself out there for the world to see, it opens up a connection with their readers like no other.
This is an absolute must read!
Thank you, Abby, for sharing your amazing talent and heartfelt story with us all!
4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and emotional [spoilers in the review] 21 July 2016

Lovely and very emotional novel. I don't often cry when reading but a few scenes really made me tear up.; especially knowing that a lot of what's in the book is connected personally to the author's past. I loved the pace of the book and how events unfold while memories of the past surface up. It's just written so beautifully!
I wasn't big on the boyfriend scenes only because I was so emerged in Maple's emotional development; I wanted to see her grow strong and become independent. At times it felt she became too dependent on a man and I didn't like that side of her particularly.
The ending is beautiful. The story with her dad seems a bit rushed but I can also see how it felt important to bring him in to give her that family and sense of belonging she always looked for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional Read 22 June 2016

OMG! I loved this book!! It made me feel so many different emotions. It was a story about life, love and family. It is about having your heart broke and then slowly put back together piece by piece by something unexpected. It is about taking life's hurts and disappointments and turning them into something positive. It is about letting go of the past and learning to live in the present. This is a must read!!
