Product Description

At some point, right before my memory clicked off, the nightmare fairy must have paid the world a visit. Everything is dead and abandoned. It’s just… gone.

I don’t remember how the world got this way, but my husband and I were lucky to find the deserted theme park when we did.

I thought we were the only survivors, but a new man has come. Shannon. He scares me. He seems weirdly possessive of me.

He’s going to take me out of the park, away from my husband and the only safety I have. I’m terrified to know what’s out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Which reality is real?? 16 June 2016
By Kellybear - Published on

Kitty Thomas is the queen of mind twisting demented stories that always seem to leave your mind reeling at the end of her books, and this book is no exception. Tabular Rasa starts out making you question what's going on seeing as how our heroine awakes in an theme park broken down pirate ship of all places. Oh and the heroine Elodie has no memory of how she ended up here with her husband Trevor, but even more worrisome than the amnesia is the world Elodie wakes up too...

"Now, everything was back to the law of the jungle. And brute strenght was king."

In Elodie's new reality she tries to come to terms with all the changes around her as well as trying to live with a man she can't remember, and now a dark and mysterious man named Shannon enters and reality changes once again.

"You're going to play all my games, Elodie. And you're going to love every minute of it. I'm tired of you being a toy I can't play with. I'm ready to take you out of the box."

Shannon is the real deal a man who takes control of a room as soon as he enters it, and takes whatever or whoever he wants. And as soon as he sees Elodie he decides he wants her.

"It's not all nurture, Elodie. There are predators in this world, and I'm one of them. There's nothing I can do to change that."
"You know you're mine, right? You were mine the moment I laid eyes on you in the Castle."

Shannon takes Elodie into a new reality, and shows her things about the world and herself that she didn't know we're true.

"I think we both know what kind of girl you are, don't we?
Yes, I think we both did know."

"Maybe I should punish you more if this excites you so much"

Watching Elodie and Shannon's relationship grow as well as how Elodie faces her new circumstances kept me riveted throughout the entire book. There was so much passion between these two, but vulnerability on Elodies part where she tried to fight her attraction to Shannon at the beginning. As we find out more about Elodie throughout the book a lot of action plays out and of course Kitty keeps us guessing along the way with a few twists along the way. I loved how this book ended though I could not have guessed the direction it turned when the past catches up with the present. Shannon was so much more than I expected and protected what was his all the way till the end.

"I would take the guilt and pain so you wouldn't have to feel it.

I haven't read a dark book this good in a long time. If your looking for a good book with dubious consent, a man who takes what what he wants, and knows how to wield a flogger, a paddle, as well as his hand on a bare bottom than this is the book for you. There's plenty of action and twists to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last chapter.

Oh my goodness, this book was amazing! It was an emotional masterpiece. It was Dark and Intense and full of Suspense. It was like being on a rollercoaster that you just couldn't wait to stop. Elodie and Shannon were fantastic characters thrown together in unusual circumstances. It was an angsty and edgy read that kept you on the edge of your seat and you just had to continue to find out what happened. As Always with Kitty Thomas Books I could not put it down. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a mind f*** of a read. This story delivers on so many aspects fresh, unique, and intriguing not to mention Mind Blowing.

Wow! I loved it! I had to stay up to finish reading it and I'm amazed! This book was another great mind bender with lots of dark twists. It is still haunting me at night, thinking about it.... Kitty Thomas always manages to surprise me, coming up with great plots, twists and turns that intrigue and fascinate! This is another fine example of this author's writing, provocative, well written, erotic, dark and suspenseful to the last page. I honestly can't wait for Kitty Thomas's next work! 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trippy, exhilarating...and classic Kitty! 17 June 2016

To say I was excited to see Kitty Thomas had a new book coming out would be a understatement. I couldn't wait to see what kind of mind game she was going to give us this time around. Judging by the lovely green cover and the title that had me scratching my head on how to pronounce I figured it was going to be a wild one.

Elodie what a trippy situation she found herself in. Waking up in a strange world not knowing who she, no past memory whatsoever! And to face a man who said she was her husband - I can only begin to imagine the confusion she was experiencing. Her husband, Trevor, how to you handle someone you love but doesn't remember. Do you love the person they are now or do you live in the memory of what they once were. Shannon...where did you come from? Why do you feel possessive? Are you a secret Trevor is hiding? Are you part of Shannon's past..the one she doesn't remember?

You know when your at a funeral and everybody is very somber and you have that uncontrollable urge to laugh? Yeah, I had quite a few of those moments while reading Tabula Rasa. Not sure if they were intended or I'm just disturbed that way but yeah, I found humor in Elodie's very unfortunate world. Everything twists and turns for Elodie. No memory, who is she to believe? I tried picturing myself in her shoes and I find for the most part I would have done exactly what she did. I say mostly. Remember this is Kitty Thomas we are talking about here. Expect everything to get tipped on its axis here because that is what happens to Elodie. Does she stay with Trevor or does Shannon take her away? Careful when you open Pandora's box because what lays beyond the walls of the deserted theme park will blow you away.

On a personal note: Tabula Rasa. What kind of title is that? Really, I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what it was about much less how to pronounce it. So, for S&G I looked it up. Oh. I get it now. I'll leave you with the definition.

ta·bu·la ra·sa  noun - 1 : the mind in its hypothetical primary blank or empty state before receiving outside impressions. 2 : something existing in its original pristine state

5.0 out of 5 stars Darkly erotic with a side order of crazy. Fantastic read from Kitty Thomas! 5 August 2016

I thought this book was brilliant!! One of the more bizarre reads I've enjoyed in a while, once I started, I could not put it down, and weeks later, I'm still thinking about it.

While there were not many times when I felt that I could relate to Elodie, the heroine (and it's not really necessary for me to relate to a protagonist in order for me to enjoy a book), I did very much come to appreciate her reactions to the wildly unique situations that she found herself in, and I absolutely adored her idiosyncrasies--such as her habit of hoarding feminine hygiene products! I think I first fell in love with her character when she raided the tampon vending machine in the abandoned amusement park ladies room. I mean … who among us wouldn't in an apocalypse situation?

I found Shannon’s character to be very intriguing as well. I particularly appreciated his relationship with his unnamed cat and the love triangle of sorts between the three of them.

But what really tipped the scales for me was Elodie’s character arc at the 94% point. That was really a bit of fist-pump genius, in my opinion, how the author just dropped that little knee-jerk character reaction /moment-of-truth on us out of nowhere.

But then… was it really out of nowhere given Elodie’s reactions and choices up to that point?

I loved the premise and creativity of this book, but most especially it’s outrageous, peculiar main and supporting characters and the whole concept of trying to get to know a character who doesn’t even know herself. In summary, this was some twisted brilliance, and I loved every moment of it!! :D
