Product description
TP-Link AC750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender connects to your Wi-Fi router wirelessly, strengthening and expanding its signal into areas it can’t reach on its own while reducing signal interference to ensure reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home or office. The RE205 lets you keep more devices connected at the same time with its 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 433Mbps dual bands. Use the 2.4GHz band to send an email and browse the web and the 5GHz band for gaming and HD streaming. An Intelligent Signal light helps you quickly find the best location to install the RE205. RE205 is more than a wireless range extender. Simply plug an Ethernet cable into its Ethernet port to easily turn your wired internet connection into a dual-band wireless access point. The RE205 works with all Wi-Fi routers. You can use TP-Link's Tether app to set up the range extender from any Android or iOS device in minutes. This feature-rich app allows you to enjoy not only hassle-free installation but also access to advanced network management, all at your fingertips.

Opens with none of the fanfare of an Apple product more like opening a squeaky door in a disused industrial park.
The iPhone app was clearly meant to be a scary ectoplasmic glowing apparition but after some focus groups marketing has reduced this to a colour that could best be described as infected mucus. It appears to be a website, you have to create credentials on tpLink cloud for no reason or benefit at all.
Eventually 4 blue LEDs light up, they are the exact colour of a ghoul, and , for about 5 minutes of the devices life these convey useful information. The rest of the time they make for a ghastly nightlight. There is no way to turn these off. Their only purpose is having your walls painted with a ghostly ghoulish light.
Finally I have things configured and yes the extender extends.
Went to change the password on the pointless cloud thing. Using a long password broke the app, accepted the long password but would not allow log on. Reported it as a bug. It's astounding the number of apps that trip up on a long password. And for a networking app I would expect much better than to fall at the first hurdle. Now of course I can’t log into the device.
Pluses
Perfect if you have a small rodent to bury
Great if you are a fan of ghouls
Wonderful if you love the colour of infected mucus
Oh extends wifi.
Minuses
4 perfectly pointless idiot lights the exact colour of a ghoul.
iPhone app is slow and buggy if that is your thing
Creates some more credentials of no benefit to anyone. Probably be showered with future promo material
Turns out you can turn off the lights in the software. So not so ghoulish after all
Needs careful positioning to pick up enough of your router’s signal to then extend the range further. Try different plug sockets to find the best solution for your installation.
I will need to try it as an extender in another room to see if the speed is improved.
Once done, it works well enough.
I've used an extension cord to mount it up high on top of a cupboard, and this has improved reception immensely.
For the price.... it is excellent.
It enables us to use wifi devices in that part of the house where we couldn’t before.

Intresting thing is APPARIO RETAIL PVT LTD. Is a fully owend subsidiary of amazon ... so amazon should have been easily able to honour the warranty of the product. But they did not.
SO ALL I WANNA SAY IS PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING THE PRODUCT THEOUGH APPARIO RETAIL PVT LTD.

It decreases the internet speed more than 50% but can't extend the coverage area of my wireless router.

1) switch on the repeater/extender
2) connect to WiFi TP_Link_Extender
3) browse to 192.168.0.254 or tplinkextender.net
4) set admin password
5) the extender switches on to quick setup 1st 2.4GHz and then 5GHz and then done. While configuring the WIFI, Ensure you know the password of the wifi you wish to extend. The new wifi would have "_ext" against original SSID but you can always change.
Cons.
I am using Airtel Xtreme fiber with a mac speed of 300 mbps. Now the speed when i connect to the router is 50-60 mbps at 2.4Ghz while it is at 290-305mbps at 5ghz.
When i connect to this range extender, the 2.4ghz becomes 40-45 mbps, which is still ok, but the issue is with 5ghz. From 300mp it becomes 60-70. Why this drop i don't know.
Secondly, I tested with Huawei HG8145V that Airtel used to supply earlier. The channel configuration on the router is set to Auto. For 5 GHz my router is broadcasting on channel 149. THIS TPLINK RPEATER CANNOT DETECT 5GHZ SIGNAL ON CHANNEL 149. Please know the channel your router is broadcasting before purchasing.

Solution : Connect to main Router and modify the 5 Ghz channel to 36, 40 or 44. Then connect back to Repeater on Tether App and follow quick setup. Both bands get connected and will be part of mesh network if your main router also is Tp link.
--- You actually could have used your old router to act as Repeater or Extender but TP link wanted to loot the people. So they have disable WDS functionality on their Tether app though hardware supports it. Instead selling the packagin in the new productline and forcing people to buy this product. So have to throw the old router with no use.
