I really enjoyed this story, it was captivating, fast paced, well written and I found myself not wanting to put it down. It was full of angst and a few heart wrenching, raw and real moments as well as some sweet ones
Jake started off as an unlikable character (purposely of course). He was the king of the high school and cold, distant, arrogant, the way he spoke about females was hard to hear at times and his hatred for Amalie didn't seem justifiable to begin with but as the story progressed and he slowly let down his walls and the more you got to know him and his back story and where his animosity stems from you start to understand his pain and will surely fall in love with him like i did. I loved watching his character grow and seeing him realise that maybe he was wrong to think and feel the way he did about certain situations at the beginning
Amalie was such a strong and beautiful character. I loved everything about her. Here she is in a new country at a new school after loosing both her parents in a horrible accident and being tormented by the schools hot shot popular athlete for reasons she does not know. I like how she stood her ground and pushed back each time she was pushed even though she couldn't help but be drawn to the schools bad boy Jake
I was also super intrigued by the side characters and can not wait for Paine Book 2 in this series
Amelie is trying to get over the death of her parents and her big move from the UK to the USA. She has to start a new school and basically wants to stay under the radar which isn’t going to happen when Jake takes an instant dislike to her and tries to make her life a living hell. There are some really cruel moments from Jake in this book and the things that not only he does to her but also his gang. Amy is the strong sort though and she isn’t going to let this bad boy best her, if anything she is going to keep pushing at him until she finds out what his problem is.
There is definitely a connection between the two straight away and it is a slow burn to red hotness in 0.1 seconds. There is a lot of development between the two characters and how they feel as well as what has sparked the trauma between the two of them, which in essence brings them closer together.
This is a great bully romance/ enemy to lovers’ book which is an easy read with a great story-line. It would be interesting to pop back in on these characters when they are older to see if any of the issues had been resolved and how they are handling things.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.
I liked this book! I e had a run of bad bully books recently, but this isn’t one of them!
Jake is a great, complex character and his hate is palpable.
I loved how strong Amalie is, standing up to Jake.
Their group of friends are fantastic as well and i can’t wait to read book 2!
There are a few continuity issues, and I really disliked Amalie at the end, but she redeemed herself, thankfully.
If bully romances are your thing, this is a great one!
I loved this book. Jake really has layers like an onion and turns into a good guys. Can't pass up a bully romance and this one had twists and turns. But be warned, it ends with a link to Book 2 - Paine - which is about Camila and Mason. It's not a cliffhanger as such, but an easy link to go straight into the next book. 5/5 and I and trying to wait patiently for book 2.⠀
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There the usual bullying, I like that storyline moves quickly and realty enjoyed Amalie and Jake’s inner monologue.
Overall a great book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series

This is Amalie and Jake Thorn's story and you will not be able to take your eyes of of either of them.
Amalie is a beautiful British girl, the English rose and she has had a complete tragedy in her life and ends up needing to go and live with her gran from London all the way to America and goes to an American school her life has been totally up ended and its hard. Losing her parents, moving to America and going to a new school and now she had the added problem of the unwanted attention from Thorn.
Jake is the king of the school and everyone listens to him, he is also a very tormented dude that also has had things very difficult and he is also an arrogant cocky dude but he is also the extremely popular football player on the team. Jake has also been through a lot in his life like Amalie has but he instantly takes a dislike to her because she reminds him of 'HER' and he is a total ass.
This author has an awesome writing style that is really easy to follow and this story completely flows throughout and she writes these characters absolutely fantastic. At first I absolutely hated Jake and I wanted to throw my kindle he made me mad and I loved Amalie and when an author can make you feel those kind of feelings while reading there books its awesome. The chemistry that these two have between each other is hot and they have a strong connection and even though they both have these kinds of feelings inside each other, I was hooked seeing how these two would navigate each other. I loved how we could see them develop throughout the book and getting to know everything. This bully romance will keep you hooked and reading right until the very end. I loved all the other characters in this book to they are all very intriguing and I cant wait to read more about them throughout this series.
Jake & Amalie
This is the first of me reading this author.
Isn't it great to come across new authors?
And this YA High School Bully Romance was a great read!
Amalia has come across to America from England to live with her Grandmother after her parents were killed in a helicopter crash.
She should be starting Uni, but the education system is different so she's having to do the last American year of High School.
When she gets Jake's attention, and it's not the nice kind of attention either.
She reminds him of a face of the past and what her lifestyle represents.
Amalia isn't the usual spoiled rich princess. She's down to earth, nice, sees the dark, broken boy in Jake and just wants to be there for him.
You have the usual catty it girls, jocks, the usual high school crowd.
Loved Amalies Gran.
Looking forward to the next couple.
First off I’ve finally popped my Tracy Lorraine cherry and I already feel so connected to her writing and especially to the characters in this series. Everything thing in this book is written with the right balance to keep the reader hooked from start to end; giving us a glimpse of the other characters in the books to follow without taking away from the main characters,
I love Amalie and Jake’s story, the angst and tension was there like an undercurrent pulling me under and against the current.
Jake is the King of Rosewood High but had his own secrets he’s hides despite being the popular jock and Amalie the new girl, from London, becomes his instant target. She’s surviving her own personal loss and tragedy and just wants stay out of the limelight and to survive high school until she can graduate.
The tension is high as they collide despite Jake setting out to ruin her, their story hits deep. I enjoyed Tracy Lorraine’s take on the tormentor bully and the new girl in this Enemies To Lovers YA High School romance.
5 Thorn-y STARS!!
As expected, nothing is as it seems, people aren't who you think and circumstances are nowhere near what you assumed!
I enjoyed this read, Jake is the typical 'king of school' but I liked that his circumstances where different! I think Amelia is the only one who could handle him!!!
I'm off now for the next one!!!
