Product Description

Do you love a gripping mystery with a huge twist? Then try this book by a best-selling author now. You won't be able to put it down. By an author everyone's talking about.

TWO GIRLS GO TO A PARTY, ONLY ONE RETURNS ALIVE

Toni, the surviving teenager, is found deliriously wandering the muddy fields of the fens. She has been drugged and it’s uncertain whether she’ll survive. She says she saw her friend Emily being dragged away from the party. But no one knows who Emily is or even if she’s still alive . . .

Meanwhile the drowned body of another girl has been found on an isolated beach.

And how does this all relate to the shocking disappearance of a little girl nearly a decade ago, a crime which was never solved? The girl’s mother is putting immense pressure on the police to re-open the high-profile case.

FOUR GIRLS. FOUR DAUGHTERS. FOUR FAMILIES WHO NEED JUSTICE AND CLOSURE.

DI Rowan Jackman and DS Marie Evans of the Fenland police are stretched to the limit as they try to bring the perpetrators of these shocking crimes to justice.

There is evidence of an illegal drinking club run by a shadowy group of men who are grooming teenagers. And the team come across a sinister former hospital called Windrush which seems to house many dark secrets. A sinister man works on the property alone, but the owner appears to be the perfect gentleman.

Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the shocking ending.

'Their Lost Daughters' is my first introduction to Joy Ellis and I will be reading more from her. This is a true page turner. Although it is book two in the series, it worked well as a standalone but I am sorry that I didn’t read 'The Murderers Son' first, only because I enjoyed this one so much.
This is another great British crime thriller set in the East Anglian Fens, featuring police duo D.I. Rowan Jackson and his partner D.S. Marie Evans.

After a missing girl's body is washed up on the beach, Jackson & Evans are tasked with investigating it however they are immediately also allocated a cold case, (a young girl who went missing nearly eight years before). Having barely started their investigation, Jackson & Evans are then asked to assist a neighbouring division in the search for a missing teenager. As they reluctantly begin these enquiries, it soon becomes clear that this and their own new case are linked and involve an illegal drinking club where minors are plied with alcohol and drugs...

The plot had numerous twists and turns which kept me in suspense throughout. The final chapters reveal some totally unexpected surprises and a totally unexpected ending. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I woke up at about 11.30pm and thought I'd read the first few chapters to help me relax and get back to sleep. It's now 4.30am and I have read the entire book. It isn't the usual type of book I would read but I found it captivating. The characters were well developed and I thought the ending was near about half way through the book, but it kept me guessing right until the very end. Well written and worth a read!

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book because, until recently, the crime/suspense/thriller genre wasn't my usual choice.

I enjoyed the interactions between the detectives and their team. Each character was well portrayed and no-one was too over the top or too perfect. The working relationsbhips had a comfortableness to them that I could identify with.

The events surrounding the underground parties is confronting and disturbingly believable. The depiction of the thoughts and actions of these teens is frighteningly realistic. Why some girls went missing and others didn't remained a challenging mystery until the end.

While I felt some characters may have been obvious decoys, I never did figure out who-done-it until all was revealed at the end. The ability to write in this manner left me satisfied and keen to read more books by this author. I'd definitely recommend this book to others.

I quite like these stories by this author. I have read several of her books and every one holds your interest to the very end and this one was no different. Based on the abduction of young girls from rave parties it had a lot of twists and turns and really kept you guessing. If you enjoy a good British mystery then you will enjoy this.

If you don't like sinister story lines with evil characters, this is not the book for you. However, it was exactly that aspect that held my attention so much I could not put it down. The disappearance of teenage girls who appear to be going off the rails and dabbling in drug related parties provided a plot that is so topical, as drugs are the basis for so much crime and victimisation today.
There were lots of twists and turns, particularly in terms of the motivation of a number of characters. The role of a creepy former hospital, Windrush , was significant and helped create the claustrophobic atmosphere of this novel. I loved it.
