Product Description

Award-winning author Melissa Mayhue returns with a brand new series in a brand new romance genre. This time she's writing a small town saga filled with strong women living out their own cozy love stories. Join her in Chance, Colorado - Where love gets a second chance…

Allison Flynn has spent the last eight years struggling to build the life of her dreams. But a cheating boyfriend, the loss of her beloved job, and her mother’s illness have all conspired to bring her back home again, shutting the door on those dreams.

Logan O’Connor is a man driven by guilt and haunted by the what-ifs of his choices in life. Betrayed by the woman he’d thought he loved, he’s given up any dream of the Happy Ever After he’d once assumed his life would have and devoted himself to his work.

When Allie and Logan cross paths, they’ll need to risk their hearts once more to have any chance at finding what they really want.

Sometimes you have to take a chance to make your dreams come true…

Length: Approximately 300 pages
Ages: 18 and up [story contains sex, mild profanity]

Take a Chance is the first in Melissa’s new contemporary small-town series set in Chance, Colorado. The second book in the series, Second Chance at Love, is scheduled for release in early 2015.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm a fan 5 June 2014

I've been a Melissa Mayhue fan for a while. Her time-travel romances are fantastic. And this new contemporary one - great, great, great. I'm so glad the author took a chance at a new genre and setting. She rocks this new town of Chance, Colorado. I could totally relate to Allison. I felt like I was reading me on the page. Now, if only I had a hottie like Logan to kiss it and make it better. If you're looking for a second chances kind of romance, this is the one you want to read.
5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star read 19 December 2013

I purchased this book for my kindle because I LOVE Melissa Mayhue's -Daughters of the Glen Series and Warriors Series-. I have to say that I rarely give a book 5 stars BUT, once I started reading "Take a Chance" I barely put it down. I couldn't wait to find out how it would end. I love this new series and can't wait for "Second Chance at Love" to come out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money 16 May 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I can't believe this was written by Melissa Mayhue. The characters were one dimensional and shallow. The story was downright boring. It was so horrible, I couldn't finish it. I have over 500 books on my kindle and I have only given a one star rating to two others besides this one. Spoilers: The female lead, can't even remember her name, can never trust again because of something that happened in her senior year of high school. She was dating one boy, pretending to like him, just to get near his brother. Her best friend told the boy the truth. She, deservedly so, became the laughing stock of the small town. That is her big dilemma in life. Poor her. Not the fact that her mother is ill, or the fact that her brother almost died, or the fact that her father was killed in a car accident with his mistress. No, her life was ruined because when she was playing with a boy's affections, her best friend told him. She's a loser. The male lead character is a little better but he is upset because he didn't join the army with his friends and get killed. Nice sentiment but no one thinks like that anymore. Maybe if this book was written in the 1930s that premise would work but in this story it was ridiculous. I was beginning to wonder if this book was written for teens or pre-teens but no where is that indicated. Save your money. Read or re-read the Daughters of the Glen stories. Those are very entertaining.
