I enjoyed the book overall, as my rating shows.
While all my previous reviews of Sword and Sorceress were 5-star this one slipped to a 4.
Just a little too same-same and lacking in oomph.
While reading a few of the stories I found myself wondering if I read it somewhere before...this is not a good thing - even if the story turned out to be great.
Note: I really missed Michael H. Payne's continuing story of Cluny, my only guess was there wasn't a submission this time?
I still recommend this book.

Wonderful Fiction!Reviewed in the United States on 26 May 2019
Every story in this book was a great read! While the nearly eight dollar price put me off from trying anything in this line (the Sword and Sorceress compilations) for quite some time, I now consider the money very well spent. The stories were very well written, and even with a common thread, were as different from each other as are most fruits, such as apples and oranges. These were every bit as good and better than the compilations in the series from which the book TURN THE OTHER CHICK is included, although the story plots usually are much more serious, cover a much wider range of situations, and certainly aren't (often) humorous or tongue-in-cheek, as is the case nearly every time with the stories in the books from the series just mentioned). My wife may not be too pleased to discover so many nearly eight dollar purchases in our Amazon spending initially (usually, I try to keep my ebook purchases under five dollars), but she's a great sport, and if she enjoyed reading as much as do I, she would be (actually, she will be) delighted for me. If the other books in the series are as good as those from this one volume, I have missed out on some top notch short fiction for much too long -- a situation I plan on correcting very soon and often. Highly recommended.
Still very goodReviewed in the United States on 22 January 2019
I worried when I saw a new editor, (Elisabeth Waters has been great), but the quality and selection of stories is close to previous years. I have bought this series since the very first book Marion Zimmer Bradley put out and would hate to see it end.

Always goodReviewed in the United States on 25 April 2019
I have read every Sword and Sorcerous book because, yes, the stories are that good. If you do not like fantasy and strong women, do not bother. If you do, get all 33 because they are great reads.

As always, I have enjoyed the sword and sorceress series. In my opinion, they were better back when Bradley was editing; but that’s not exactly an option anymore!
