Product Description

Twenty-three-year-old Carolina Hawkins needs an experienced Cup driver, or the business she inherited from her father will be facing its last lap on the NASCAR circuit. Approaching her childhood friend, Dell Wayne, is risky - there's a reason he doesn't have a ride in the middle of the season. Carolina pins her hopes and dreams on the man once touted as a brilliant, new style of driver, but whose recent track performance has earned him the nickname – Madman.
After his father's tragic death at Darlington, Caudell Wayne Jr. has done his best to live 'down' to his father's expectations. When Carolina Hawkins hires him to drive for her failing race team, her faith in his ability prompts Dell to dig deep to find the driver she needs in order to save her business and her dream, and if he's lucky, maybe he'll win the biggest trophy of all, her heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Start your engines, you're in for quite a ride! 27 May 2012

A NASCAR themed story. And a romance. And a read-it-in-one-go because I couldn't put it down?
I hit the Trifecta, ladies and gentlemen.
Buckle up, folks, because the author hurls you right into the action, the danger and the drama of high speed stock car racing. It's a knuckle-cracking, metal-screeching, high octane thrill ride that puts us right inside the head of the driver, Dell Wayne. And like the rest of his contemporaries, you might not like what you see.
Dell is arrogant, gorgeous, foolhardy, reckless, brilliant, `driven' ... oh, and did I mention `arrogant'? He's got a racing reputation to live up to ... or live down, the jury's out in everyone's mind but his own. On the track Dell thinks he has it under control, the racing officials disagree, casting him adrift to weigh his options.
Carolina Hawkins comes from a similar racing heritage. Inheriting the family business proved to be no picnic for a young woman with grease under her nails, determination and grit ... and a garage full of misogynistic gents who nay-say everything she tries to do, including her dad's trusted crew chief. The world of NASCAR is a male-only private club and women have their place ... and it's not tightening up a lug nut or designing a fuel injection system.
When Carolina's current driver isn't up to the challenge, she enlists the dubious talents of her former childhood friend. Dell agrees to sign on but not necessarily listen to her sound advice: act less like the `Madman' on the track and more like the brilliant rookie he'd been before his father slammed the wall and died on the track three years before. Did I mention Dell's arrogant?
And hot. Those two might have played together as kids but they're all grown up now and what simmers soon boils. And even with Dell still meeting everyone's expectations--that he's too wild and undisciplined, a danger to all the drivers--Carolina sees more, but can she afford the time to peel back layers when Dell's bad decisions continue to drive her closer to bankruptcy and the machinations of a man looking to acquire her assets?
Dell has his own issues, above and beyond his attraction (lust) for the owner he's racing under. His arch enemy, the man who drove his father's car into the wall, killing him, might be more than he seems. And what Dell knows about his family will change dramatically.
Carolina and Dell must keep their feelings secret, the double standard hard at work, greasing the rumor mill wheels, until it threatens to drive them apart. The business flounders and Carolina has no more tricks up her sleeve. At the eleventh hour Dell steps in, and steps up to the challenge, but when success seems within their grasp bad luck hits with all the force of a front end collision with the wall.
Okay, enough summary...
Do you like characters who are real flesh and blood, who grow, who challenge each other, who challenge *you*? Do you want action so intense you can see it, feel it, hear it? Do you want to stand up and cheer at the checkered flag? Do you want sizzle and zing in your love story?
Sweet Carolina delivers all that and more. So Readers: start your engines because you're gonna be in for a five star ride.

Young Carolina Hawkins inherits a floundering NASCAR team from her father. Few take her seriously, including some of her own employees. Keeping the sponsors happy with a lackluster driver proves impossible, so she takes on childhood friend Dell Wayne to handle those duties. A few years ago he was an up and coming star. Now he isn't as hot, but was the only driver of that caliber available. He tears up Carolina's cars left and right and has no idea how difficult it is for her to keep the wolves at bay. But there's also a driver that seems bent on killing Dell; the same guy that put his father in the wall and killed him. Complicating things even further, Carolina finds herself attracted to Dell, and he to her. Involvement with her driver would cause furor among the NASCAR officials, demoralize her team, and make her a laughing stock of the other team owners. NASCAR racing being a high stakes business where only the savvy survive, she can't afford to appear foolish. This isn't some yarn about rednecks driving beat-up old stock cars `round and `round. It's about the human struggle to succeed, both personally and professionally. And even though I'm biased, since racing was once pretty much my life, I don't believe you have to be an enthusiast of the sport to enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vroom, Vroom! 5 July 2012

Vrrrroom, vrrroom, start your engines with Roz Lee's SWEET CAROLINA! When Caudell (Dell) Wayne gets suspended from NASCAR racing and loses his ride, the only thing he expects to do is sit in his lavish home, drink beer and brood over fulfilling his dead father's prophecy that he would never live up to his arch enemy, Richard Warner. Unbeknownst to him, his childhood friend and gear head gal pal, Caroline Hawkins, has grown up and taken over her deceased dad's racing team. She watches Dell's demise from afar, first with dismay, then with a glimmer of hope for her deteriorating finances. If she can keep Madman Dell from killing himself and wrecking cars, maybe, just maybe, she can bring her family company back from the brink of financial ruin. When she shows up on his doorstep with the outrageous proposal that he should drive for her, she expects him to turn her down. Instead, he says yes and it's not just the metal wheels on the concrete walls that spark. He's an employee, untouchable, or so her brain says. Her body has other thoughts. He knows she's the boss and he thinks she looks sexy in-and out-of greasy overalls. The fire suits won't stop the flames that ignite between these two. Will he win the right races and find his soul and soul mate? Or will their relationship crash and burn on the sharp twists and turns of Roz Lee's unexpected plot twists? I'm not giving you the answers, but I can tell you, I will never look at NASCAR races and racers the same way again after reading this book. Get some ice cubes before you start, it's a scorching read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carolina Hawkins was a woman who was not only smart but good looking 9 November 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
Carolina Hawkins was a woman who was not only smart but good looking. She was determined to make it in the man's world of NASCAR racing. Her dad didn't want this life for her and so to make it harder on her he left his racing team in debt. She knew she needed to get a racer that would help Hawkins Racing team. This late in the season the only person she could approach was Caudell Wayne Jr who was a friend of hers from way back when they were younger. Caudell had been suspended from driving and lost his ride. He didn't need the money. His father Caudell Wayne Sr. was a legend and he was always fighting against a ghost when he went out to race. Carolina knew getting involved with Caudell was a bad move but she couldn't fight her feelings for him. Caudell was known as a ladies man. But what she didn't know was that Caudell was wanting her just as much. They finally admit that there is a strong attraction and they can't fight it anymore. When Caudell starts winning and driving like the man Carolina knows he is, they are accused of cheating. They figure out they are being sabotaged by another racing team. They won't let that stop them from proving their innocence.

I loved this story. I gave this book 5 stars. It revved my engine up. Not only did I like the racing story personally growing up racing with my dad but I loved the hot sex scenes with Caudell and Carolina. I also liked the strong character Roz Lee made of Carolina. She was very intelligent and not going to let some good ole boys club get to her. She would not be stopped. I highly recommend this book.
