Product Description

Beware of falling in love with the boy across the street.

Disappearing from their dangerous life in Chicago, Ginny and her mother went from riches to rags by way of a new life in the sleepy, rural suburbs of New York. Under the illusion of safety, Ginny blossomed into a beautiful young woman with hopes and dreams for a future her mother was determined she would have.

Lucas Young, her best friend’s oldest brother, was the dashing hero in all of her dreams. The man she fantasized about sweeping her off her feet and giving her the happily ever after she had only heard about in her mother’s fairytales.

Sometimes, reality wasn’t what we wanted it to be, though.

What would happen when Ginny found out Lucas wasn’t her Prince Charming after all? Instead, he was a rough and tumble soldier in extremely tarnished armor who had a propensity to break her heart.

Maybe happily ever after wasn’t meant for everyone.

Whilst I understand authors needing to make a living off their books, I am sorry but I feel ripped off by this author for this book. This story is in 3 parts for some reason.
I have never and will never buy a book that has been broken down into parts. Will be refunding this book.
I have really enjoyed this author's books in this series and some of her other books but I am so annoyed at paying full price for a third of a story. If you can get the books as soon as they release at a cheaper price, then they are a bargain, but otherwise you are going to pay over the odds for a single book. Shame on you Ms Lane. One story costing AU$12.00 AU. Not fair at all.
The previous three books in this series have been wonderful, full of angst, betrayal, hurt, redemption and finally the type of love that survives.
A pure pleasure to read, every one of them.
I was so excited to finally get another book in this series as it has been well over 2 years since the last one ended and gave us a big tease of Lucas and Ginny and now to be treated like this. I know this is advertised as a cliff hanger and I was expecting it to stop somewhere crucial but really I wish I had waited until all three were written. I found this one going back in time too tame. We know Lucas has had a special female somewhere in his past and whilst it is good to read about that I still think this could have been shorter and the whole story done in two books., a story should be just that, a complete story.

I loved it, but I feel gipped, but I loved it. I know it was advertised as a cliffhanger, I knew it was part of their story, I know all that! But Aaahhhh!!!having to WAIT for the second instalment??!! I love this series. I really do. It's not corny, or gag worthy. The characters stories draw you in, and become part of you. Waiting is hard you know. Only four stars because of that. This back story brings you up to where the second in the series ended, and should be incorporated within the final instalment of Lucas Young and Ginny's HEA as it would make for a smoother read for the audience. Please don't make us wait long...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but sad 1 April 2017

I liked the book and I was warned ahead of time that it would be part of a trilogy and I hated it!!! I hate cliffhangers. I waited until all three books came out and even then, I still didn't read them. So now, a year later, I'm catching up. loved both Ginny and Lucas. Their story is sweet and heartbreaking. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and Lucas young is now very intimately familiar with. His determination to allow Ginny space to grow backfired in a big way. His dreams of joining the military was not all it was cracked up to be and changed him from the boy who was going to be the knight in Ginny shinning amour to the man who breaks her heart. Good book but I really the ending should have been more. I'm now on to the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ginny and Lucas stormed into my heart and have taken permanent residence! 9 June 2016

Ms Lane you about broke my emotions down reading this one. Whoa! I've already read this more than once because, honestly, I was scared I might have missed something. Ok, so maybe not missed anything because I read each and every single word way.too.closely but I got to the end and it had me so wrung out I had no option other than to go back and put myself through it all again. That's how much this book just gripped me from the get go. What can I say about Lucas and Ginny? They were just breaking my heart and yet making it feel like it was going to explode with how much these two obviously loved one another that I couldn't contain the emotions it was evoking. I love the flow of these characters, all the little nuances that you just don't get to see or feel in many reads. I love a book that will not only engage my full attention but get my emotions running wild and this one definitely does that, in spades. It had me smiling, laughing and yes, dammit it had me ugly crying more than once and even yelling out loud, it was an emotional roller-coaster but one that I never wanted to end. Honestly I got to the end knowing it would be a bit of a cliffhanger, and even so when that final page came up and I knew I was going to have to wait a couple of weeks to read the next installment I knew it didn't matter to me in the slightest. Ginny and Lucas reached out during this book and took hold of me to such a degree that they made me their loyal minion - I'd wait any length of time for more of their story, that's just how brilliant this read was for me. I already know this is going to be one series I will be reading over and over again. Ginny and Lucas stormed into my heart and have taken up permanent residence. Bring on the next installments - it's going to be an epic ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing! 16 May 2016
By Barb (Paging Through The Days) - Published on Amazon.com

Holy Heart Shaped lockers! Like, okay, I'm kind of at a loss for words. Anyone that knows me, knows just how impossible that is.

So, let me thank Jessie for letting me have an advanced copy of Sweet Agony to read in exchange for an honest review. And, I hate life kept taking me from the pages of this book. So frigging good. Heart wrenching. Desperate. Full of chaos and the sweetest of agonies. The title is perfection. And now, I frigging need the next installment. Lol

I'm not sure yet my full feelings on a few things but I can say this, I want to shake both Ginny and Lucas. Kick them both in the ass. Then, hug them both. Talk about putting your marbles in a cup and shaking them up. Life is much simpler when you're a kid. The day dreams, the magic of it all surrounds you until you know your knight in shining armor will ride up on his white horse and rescue you. That's how it rolls.

As adults, we know it doesn't happen much. And with Gin and Lucas it's no difference. Their downfall, other than Lucas being a donkey's left nut, is that Gin was too young for him. That few years difference is what started them out on a path meant for destruction. In order to rebuild though, you have to strip down to the bare essentials and rebuild. This is something that they both are facing when the past catches up to Mrs. Dubois and Ginny.... life will never be the same.

With the safe haven of living across form the Young's, life is a battle. One to stay on top of things Ginny, has to play by a new set of rules. Ones set by the one person that can literally ruin her life in ways only satin imagined. But, when all hopes lost, salvation -or what should be salvation- shows up.

With the red flag (so to speak) waving in front of him Lucas is determined to do the one thing he should have some years ago. He's going to get the girl.... or... maybe not...

Sweet Agony is a great read! It has great characters and plenty of back story. Taste of sweet first love, heart break, regrets and hope. Everything needed for a great romance. Throw in a hot alpha ops agent and you have the recipe for a read I couldn't put down. A glimpse of some old friends and it totals excellent read. Not a dull moment. Great read and great job. Bring on the next one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Three parts series 4 June 2016

I had no idea this would be a three part series for Lucas and Ginny. This ends at the same scene Stripping Her Defenses ends. This tells us all about Lucas and Ginny's childhood and when they're young adults. I loved reading the stories from their childhood. I even like Olivia, she's a wonderful friend. This shows how someone's actions, even brief, can change the course of the future.
