I’m like that with my reads sometimes as well – I want the full sweet and salty experience. I want a guaranteed HEA, but I want my heartstrings tugged along the way. I want to boo and hiss then swoon and sigh (I’m complicated). Freddie and Jasmine delivered that with knobs on!
First loves, eh? They leave an indelible mark, don’t they? (Yes, this review shall indeed be riddled with lots of opened ended questions – what of it? *snorts*) A love so great can be hard to forget, or even move on from, no matter the years or distance in between. If you had a second chance with a lost love, what would you do?
We all know my penchant for matching songs with books. So, it will come as no surprise when I tell you I’ve done it again! I’m showing my age (shut it!), but I kept singing Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi when I was reading Freddie and Jasmine’s story. Read the lyrics – ugh, my heart!
Fate aka the ‘M’ dating agency has given them a second chance in paradise. It’s up to them not to waste it.
From the sun, sea, sand, and beauty of the Seychelles to my favourite Scottish city of Edinburgh, prepare to be swept away with this touching and heartfelt second chance romance.
Rachael Stewart never leaves her readers wanting and SRWHC cements why she is one of my all-time favourite romance authors.
Jas is really something. She's pulled herself up from poor beginnings in a bit of a Cinderella story - but her successes are down to herself and not prince charming. I loved her drive and her passion, and how she retained her humanity despite of her changes in circumstance. It could have been so easy for her to become aloof and distant, yet she was so down to earth.
Freddie is a bit resentful of a lot, and cynical to boot. I didn't like how he treated Jas at times, especially after the half way point. I wanted to grab him by the shoulders and give him a good shake. It's understandable why he feels the way he does, but it took him so long to see things from a different perspective.
I loved the past between Jas and Freddie - seeing them work through it all and confront their feelings and their shared past was excellent, and it was messy. I loved their ups and downs and hesitation, and the fierce passionate lust between them
I would love to read more about M, the exclusive dating agency. Their skills are unmatched, and the way they set the scene so romantically was perfect.. Plus, I want more of that opulence. The whole Billion-Dollar Matches series will be going straight on my TBR.
