Dyson Vix. The bad boy of Formula One Racing. The ultimate playboy, there isn’t a hairpin turn he can’t handle or a woman he can’t have. Dyson lives life like he drives – hard, determined, and like it might be his last day.

The first time I met him he was completely naked, and he couldn’t have cared less.

The second time I saw Dyson, he just stood there, staring at me. His fire suit hung low on his waist, and his body was dripping in sweat, grease and… well, you get the idea.

We couldn’t have been more different. After a family tragedy, I’ve been left to raise my nephew, Simon, all alone. Raising him has given me more joy than I could’ve imagined, but it came at a price. He is my entire world, and everything I do is with him in mind. I haven’t had a date in months, instead focusing solely on him. Man troubles are the last thing we need, especially the kind reckless thrill seeker Dyson Vix would bring.

But fate has other ideas.

I’ve been thrust into his fast-paced world, and the more time I spend with him -- the more I see of the troubled man behind the roguish charm -- the more my resolve crumbles. Our chemistry is undeniable but isn’t without risk. Jealousy and threats to my home life mean I could lose everything I’ve worked so hard to protect.

The stakes have never been higher.

Will we make it, or are we destined to crash and burn?

The Fastlane Series books are stand alone romance novels featuring unique lovers and happy endings. No cliffhangers! Surge is Dyson and Ava's story and is Book #1 in the Fastlane Series.

Surge is the first in a new series from Fastline series from Sloane Storm and I enjoyed my first book from this author. There is plenty to love about this book and I can’t wait for more of this series as I loved Ava and Dyson !

Ava Walter is a woman who experienced more then her fair share of bad luck thanks to way life turned out of her. Her mother is no help and she raising her nephew Simon on her own with help from her friend Jillian as Simon’s father is long gone. She given up her dreams in order to provide for him and give him a better life . She is smart but working as a nurse is the only way to provide then so be it . Working at a doctor’s office, she leads an ordinary but tough life never expecting to cross paths with someone who she will have devastating affect on her life. However fate has other ideas.

Formula One has comes racing into Austin , Texas and she gets entangled into this world by chance. As it so happens her boss is a friend of the doctor of the team that Dyson Vix races for and the team Doctor has problems with his passport leaving him unable to join the team. Leaving the team needing a doctor and offer the job to her boss after he takes the Dyson’s and Macro’s physicals.

Unfortunately he can’t join them due to the last minute notice and offers up Ava his more then capable nurse. Leaving her in a rock and hard place as the job is a life saviour offering her much need funds. But then there is Dyson, the man she can’t get out of his head ever since his physical as there was undeniable attraction that she couldn’t shake. However he is the last one she wants to know, as his life is a mess. It might have to do with the fact he might have some fun with his groupies in the exam room or is because he is a bad boy who lives for the fast lane ?

Either way he is bad news but she can’t help desire him despite his actions. Plus the fact he is willing to go after her even what he did. Dyson might not care what he did in the exam room as it was harmless fun right. But he can’t get Ava out of his head and is offering to do things that he never would do for woman and wanting to know her better.

However it isn’t that easy as whilst she takes the position and Dyson woes wanting her to , a streak of problems pop up leaving her struggling to deal with life and Dyson who got his set of problems which seems to fall on Ava’s shoulders. Will they ever sort things out.

It may be a fast sport but this book isn’t any but a fast pace romance. The author does take the time to let us discover the characters and get a good grip on them. HOwver it feels more Ava’s story because Dyson his problems were clean cut. Ava seemed to get tangled into one thing or another and Dyson somehow also did. But she was the glue holding them together and the only peson who understood him. Scary considering that Dyson was all about being fast. The author messed these two perfectly together and

Surge is the first book I have read of this author and hopefully this won’t be the love as I love her brand of sport romance. I haven’t had an opportunity to read much car racing ones and Formula 1 was one I wanted to read as I’m fascinated by this sport and was curious to know. Thank you Sloane Storm for wrtitng this book and hopefully there will be more Formula 1 action in this series as there is a certain someone who looks like they are single just saying. . SO if you love fast cars and bad boys Fastline is the series for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely has potential! Hope Marco's story is up next!! 23 September 2015

Book one of the Fastlane Series, Surge has set a good amount of potential for this brand new racer-romance themed series.

Ava Walters has had a hard life. Solely raising her nephew, Simon, and trying to provide him with a better life and managing her own dreams and career, has left her at a crossroads in life.

She meets badboy and notorious womanizing Formula One driver, Dyson Vix, during one of his physicals, as she was the nurse administering his vitals, and from there she emits an infatuated attraction for him. But, with his rugged handsome looks, wealth, lag of groupies, and tumultuous dance with the life on the fast lane, she knows that no good can come from getting involved with him no matter how much her inner thighs flush with desire around him.

That’s easier than said, until, she ends up taking the position of his health care liaison while on race tour, and lines become blurred between the two, and Dyson’s fixation and ambition to win become a deadly obsession to reach the top.

Not to mention, when Ava’s guardianship of Simon is jeopardized and Dyson is thrown in the mix of her clusterf*$k of problems 101, how will business and pleasure forebode in this tantalizing read about love, family, dreams, and sacrifice?

A very high staked read with a lot on the characters’ plates. My heart truly bled for Ava as nothing seemed to go right in her life and she always had to put her wants, needs, and dreams on the back burner to being a good aunt and surrogate mom to her nephew.

Her relationship with Dyson was not bad in terms of repertoire and growth. While I did find them a lovely couple, I wish there was more development with Dyson as to how he began to fall in love with Ava. I always felt that Ava, being the selfless lass that she is, always kept giving and giving, and he hardly returned the favor in return.

Dyson, to me, was wrapped a lot in his hard headed and hot blooded ways, and at times, made me feel a disconnection with his character. It almost made me wonder, how the hell would anyone fall in love with him. The man had a chip up his shoulder, annoying sluts causing trouble, and was his own worst enemy. Seriously, he was a good guy with a generous heart, but he was also extremely hot and cold. Wishy, washy to say the least.

Ava, man, I totally was egging and egging for her constantly to set this man in his place, as he was constantly going off and having mood swings. She did not deserve such mundane treatment. And yet, she could see the light in Dyson and what made him redeemable when I as a reader could not understand or comprehend at times.

And lastly, the race scenes. Being that Dyson is a racer and Ava got dragged in to work for him and his team, I really liked how realistic it was. Granted, Dyson wasn’t perfect and had his flaws as a driver, I enjoyed that about him. I just wish that the final and championship race scene did not cut off the way it did. It felt a bit abrupt and made it feel anti-climatic. One second I was in the race, and the next, I was not. I had literally gone back and re-read that part a few times.

Otherwise, all in all, a great read!! I know that I had a lot to say and critique, but, do not misunderstand that I did not appreciate this read. I did. I just had a love-hate kind of relationship with Dyson is all.

I really hope that Marco’s story is up next!! Maybe he will be paired up with Ava’s bestie and roommate? … I also want MORE Ed!! Hot lawyer alert, woohoo!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review: Fastlane #1: Surge 11 November 2015
By Lisa Hines - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
As a recently new fan of Sloan Storm, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this story. As much as I love a good MC romance, these racecar romances are fast becoming a favorite too.

Ava is a single mother to her orphaned nephew Simon. She is a nurse with a few years of medical school under her belt before she had to quit to take car of Simon. Her life is organized, scheduled, and reliable with herself, Simon and her best friend and roomate Jillian coesiting perfectly. But then funding for Simon's private school falls through and Ava is at her wits end with how to cover tuition. This happens right around the time the Formula One races begin their US tour. While at work Ava meets a patient that tests her patience beyond all belief. Dyson Vix. The US's dream driver. naked, but for a hospital gown with his two Russian floozies (AKA Grid Girls) for company.

The chemistry between the two is apparent, but Ava is not going to sell herself short for a quickie with a womanizer, no matter how godlike he looks. But when Dyson reveals himself to be less of a douche and more of a genuine human being she has a difficult time fighting their mutual attraction. Plus, Dyson is not one to give in when he sets his sights on something. Especially if she is as hot as Ava.

With a dramatic twist and some self-destructive behavior and emotional healing we come to the end of a steamy, enticing read - a full-length novel - complete story NO cliffhanger. Thoroughly enjoyable and I cannot wait to read more in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love in the fast lane, full speed ahead. Get ready for a full throttle hot ride! 17 January 2016

Love in the fast lane, full speed ahead. Get ready for a full throttle hot ride!

Talk about being a bit of (or more like a lot of) a playboy. I mean only track racer Dyson would bring two blonds with him to his physical to show off, only to then get it on with them with a threesome after its done. Seems like he needs a lot of attention and they were only too happy to oblige.

Ava gets quite an eyeful when she first meets Dyson. After opening the door to the exam room before his physical even starts she is confronted by one very sculptured butt – Adonis eat your heart out! If she thought that was the only part of him she would see that day that would make her blush she was wrong – especially when Doctor Wilcox asks Dyson to remove his pants so he can check everything. Seeing his whole package – one he is not shy about showing – is one sure way to turn Ava completely beetroot. Right from the start she can see he is going to be nothing but trouble, but trouble is looking all kinds of good when he starts chasing her down.

From the moment Dyson meets Ava he knows that she is someone he wants to get to know better, and by better he just means to get in his bed. He wastes no time with starting to flirt with her, even with his Grid Girls in the room. Something they don’t like but he is quick to remind them of the rules he has – with them its just sex, nothing more nothing less and they know it. Which is when they decide to show him just what they are good at.

Ava doesn’t think she will see Dyson again but fate seems to have other ideas. When her boss Doctor Wilcox says he can’t go on the road with the team as their physician he suggests Ava go in his place. At first she doesn’t think it will be a good idea – not just because of Dyson and their ever obvious attraction – but the thought of being away from her nephew (who she is the sole carer of) for months at a time is almost too much to bare. But trouble at home with money coming in is enough of a push to get her to go along. She just wonders how long she will be able to hold out with Dyson, as the more time she spends with him on closer inspection the more depth he starts to show.

When a blast from her past threatens to throw her whole world upside down it’s the moment where you see Dyson step up to the plate and take care of something major for her. From that moment on they are connected in a whole new way. What started out as pure electric sexual chemistry between them soon starts to turn into something more – whether either are ready for it or not. But with Dyson taking too many risks on the track, and his old Grid Girls trying to cause trouble between them, Ava starts to wonder whether this lifestyle is really for her.

Loved the chemistry between Ava and Dyson and when they finally get it on it is HOT. But then with this being by Sloan Storm I would expect nothing less. Great bit of writing and a fabulous start to a new series – one I definitely want to continue with.

I received this ARC from Give Me Books for my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun racing read that will be appealing to non-race fans too 25 September 2015
By Alicia Kline - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I received a copy of this book directly from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book in the third series that I have read by this author, and by now I already know that I'm going to get a decent read before I even swipe through the first page. This author is consistently good, and it's almost a relief at times to see another email come through with an ARC because I am confident that it will be of a high quality. That being said, this book is by far my favorite that I've read by this author.

I don't like racing. Of all the sports in the world, it may be my least favorite one. But it was so refreshing to see a new concept for a romance series that I wanted to clap my hands and jump up and down with joy. I feel like some romance subgenres have been done to death, and racing is something unique. So immediately, I was intrigued.

There was a slight bobble early on with some unorthodox handling of a urine sample (please don't ask) which had me scratching my head and complaining a bit. Eventually, I decided that maybe I'm just oversensitive due to my gender, day job, and personal experiences. But still, ewwwww. Real life doctor's offices would be screaming and reprimanding someone for that. Trap doors are in the facility's bathrooms for a purpose, right?

But back on track. Pun intended.

Yes Dyson, a Formula One racer at or near the top of his game, is a wealthy man, but the focus of this story was not his riches, so to me it didn't read like a billionaire romance. Sure, he takes Ava out for an expensive dinner, but it didn't feel over the top. To me, Dyson didn't seem preoccupied with his money, which was a major plus. I could appreciate him racing for the love of speed, and not for the love of cash prizes and endorsement deals, and that made me like him all the more.

Ava was also a character that I could see myself being friends with, so rooting for them to get together was an easy thing to do. I enjoyed that finding a man was not her ultimate motivation, and that she had other interests and concerns outside of the bedroom. Her life did not depend upon hooking up with Dyson, no matter if the attraction to him couldn't be denied.

There were a few nicely steamy scenes in this one, but I didn't feel like the book was all about sex. There was plenty going on plot wise to keep me entertained, and that's what I'm really looking for in a read.

Though this was book one in a series, I felt like this couple's story was wrapped up at the end. It leads me to wonder if the next books will focus on the rest of the racing team members, or on the couple's extended families. I'm not quite certain, but I can't wait to find out.
