Sure Thing (Best Laid Plans Book 1) Kindle Edition
Have you ever set out to have a one night stand with a sexy stranger?
No? I’m the only one?
Just kidding, I would never.
But then I figured, why not? My entire life I’ve been good and it’s gotten me nowhere.
I’m owed a little fun, aren’t I? A reward for being good.
Sure, a new pair of shoes would be more appropriate, but Mr. Sexy Stranger is more appealing. And when he speaks—in that British accent—it’s a done deal. Every American woman has a hot British guy fantasy. Well, most do. I haven't taken a poll or anything, but I’m pretty sure it’s a fact.
You know that saying about best-laid plans?
Good, because I don’t either, but I assume they go awry.
Like my one night stand…

Taking a leaf out of her sister’s book, Violet decides a wild night out is what she needs to help her forget about the mess she finds herself in.
Violet is jobless and sleeping on her sisters couch after her boyfriend makes her break up with herself (yep apparently it’s a thing)….
Deciding on a spontaneous one-night stand, Violet arms herself with a cringe worthy pickup strategy based on a women’s magazine and heads to a bar. How this girl miraculously hooks the ‘Hot Brit’ Jennings needs to be read to be believed.
After a night of hot sex, they both go their separate ways, neither expecting to encounter one other again.
As Violet is unemployed, her sister Daisy convinces her to cover for her as a tour guide for a week by switching with her. Pfft nobody will notice she said…
Here commences the chain of event of mistaken identities beginning with the bus driver she supposedly shagged (who wants a repeat) and her one-night stand Jennings who happens to be on this tour. It had me grinning the whole time reading this book.
This book was a fantastic read. Violet was a great combination of awkward without being an idiot and her internal dialogues kept me totally amused. Combined with a totally swoony ‘British’ Jennings who totally adored all of Violet’s idiosyncrasies, it would make any hopeless romantic happy! Let’s not forget to mention how hot this book was.
Violet was a very likeable character, she was hilarious, quirky and had an incredibly close bond with her twin sister Daisy. An epic 'supposed to be' one night stand turns into so much more for Violet and Canon - hilarity and hot times a plenty between these 2 as they fall hard and fast for each other while both keeping secrets.
Identical twins who change places.
A road trip.
An ordinary girl falling in love with a guy she thinks is ordinary too, but really he's a lot more.
The story opens with Violet jumping into her first ever one night stand with a hot English guy, Jennings, she spots at a bar. Violet is still recovering from the double whammy of losing her job and her boyfriend in one fell swoop a few months ago. Now she is trying to prove to herself that life can still be fun.
Violet has also been pressured by her identical twin sister Daisy to take Daisy's job for a week as a travel/tour guide on a bus trip around parts of the US for a group of international tourists. Daisy leaves a set of notes, and promises Violet can easily manage the job. Daisy's reasons are unspecified, but apparently all will become clear in the next book (Daisy's book). In the meantime, Violet agrees.
So, next morning, when the tour starts, funnily enough, Violet's one night stand is going on the tour, with his grandmother, no less. And so begins the road trip. Over the course of the next week (!) Jennings and Violet (or Daisy as she is confusingly referred to on the trip) fall in love. But there is the inevitable misunderstanding and they split at the end of the week.
Funnily enough, (plot contrivance alert), Violet has gained a job interview in London, where Jennings lives. The misunderstanding is sorted out, and they get together for their not-very-convincing (to me) HEA. There is an epilogue which didn't move me much as I hadn't really connected that well with the characters.
I did enjoy Violet's love affair with London, having visited it myself last year, and I had exactly the same experience. So that was real for me. And Jennings did feel English to me. Ms Aston did a reasonable job of establishing that. Although he did called Violet/Daisy 'love' just a little too often. That started to feel overdone. I did also have a bit of a problem with the timeline. Yeah I know the plot was predicated around a road trip, but even so, it all felt a bit rushed. Jennings and Violet's relationship never really had time to grow and develop IMO. It was just there, fully-fledged in a few days. Hmmmm.
And as I said, somehow the book lacked the charm of earlier books. It had some cute moments, and was pretty steamy, but overall was just an 'average' read for me. Still, I will probably read the next book.
When is a one night stand not a one night stand?? When you're Violet or Rose or should I say Daisy... her character is one of my favourites in rom com books this year. Her inner dialogue and hilarious unfiltered one liners made her a character I immediately fell in love with.
📚 His c@$k just thumped onto my stomach. Like, if my stomach was capable of emitting a grunt from the contact, it would. Hell, yes. Keep calm and carry on. God save the Queen. Think of England.
Jennings is your ideal British Book Boyfriend and I absolutely loved his dry wit, his genuine affection for Violet and his delicious bedroom skills. The chapters in his POV were a perfect balance to Violet's hilarity.
📚 "How do you want to f@$k?” I ask and pick up her hand. I kiss the inside of her wrist and meet her eyes. “Soft or hard? Fast or slow? Dirty or dirty?” “Um…” She blinks, her skin flushed. “Yes.”
I also have to say I enjoyed meeting the supporting characters and hope we get their stories too. Lots and lots more stories from this group.
Definitely recommend to fans of Jana's books or in fact anyone looking for a funny, sweet with healthy dose of hot read. I absolutely loved it.

I will definitely be buying more of this Author.
Much love to Jana x
I'm so glad I bought it, what a great read, not only a great romance but it was a very witty read. Love the honesty of Violet even though she is pretending to be her sister. Jennings is my favourite kind of guy, sexy, dirty but caring (his nan) and very successful.
This couple were never supposed to meet but Violet doing a favour for her sister meets Jennings and after what she thinks is a one night stand, they come face to face again, with both of them trying to hide who they really are.
I am definitely going to be reading more from this author, and I suggest you take a look at her too.
Entertaining, steamy romance story.
The idea of Violet and Daisy, twins temporarily changing places, was amusing and interesting and it got off to a great start.
There were a lot of fairly graphic sexual encounters and eventually I thought they got in the way of the story and slowed it down.
